A Sacrifice on 'Saving Grace' Series Finale (VIDEO)

by Chris Harnick, posted Jun 22nd 2010 9:50AM
Saving GraceIt was the end on 'Saving Grace' (Mon., 10PM on TNT) and Grace (Holly Hunter) went out with a bang.

[Spoiler warning!]

Grace made good on her word from the first episode and sacrificed herself in the name of God. She went out in a blaze -- literally -- of glory. She sacrificed herself and vanquished the evil from Baltimore.

But, where did that leave her friends? In mourning. Where did it leave you, loyal viewers?

June 2010 Premieres, Specials and Finales

by Jason Hughes, posted May 29th 2010 10:31AM
'True Blood' / 'Hot in Cleveland' / 'Futurama'
There's no reason to go into TV withdrawal now that so many of your favorites have had their season finales. We've still got 'Glee' to go yet. But more than that, June offers such a plethora of new series and season premieres, you'd think it was premiere week in September. HBO is back in a big way with new seasons of 'True Blood,' 'Hung' and 'Entourage.'

'Burn Notice,' 'In Plain Sight' and 'Royal Pains' kick off their summer runs on USA. Perhaps a little higher on the anticipation ladder is the long-awaited return of 'Futurama' on Comedy Central. Also returning to television is Betty White, This time she's teaming up with three comic vets on TV Land's first-ever scripted comedy, 'Hot in Cleveland.'

There are series finales ('Saving Grace,' 'The Tudors') and sports finals (NBA, NHL) as you'd expect this time of year. More surprising, perhaps, is the networks debuting several new scripted series for the summer season, to join their reality staples. NBC premieres 'Persons Unknown,' while ABC brings 'Scoundrels,' 'The Gates,' 'Rookie Blue' and 'Boston Med.'

Click on through to see all the premieres, specials and finales for June 2010.

Larry David, 'Curb Your Enthusiasm'Larry David has made my life complete once again with the announcement that there'll be an eighth season of his whining and complaining on 'Curb Your Enthusiasm.' So what's bugging curmudgeonly LD lately? And who is his dream guest star? I've got his perfectly matter-of-fact answers.

Then I talk to 'Dancing With the Stars' host Tom Bergeron (a.k.a. one of the best interviews ever) about his biggest shock of the season and his secret past with co-host Brooke Burke. I've also got a treat for 'Saving Grace' fans before the last six episodes of the series air. You want Butch's cowboy hat? Tell me why and it could be yours, right off star Bailey Chase's head.

'Family Guy' Actress With Down Syndrome Diffuses Sarah Palin's Latest TV Outrage

by Danny Gallagher, posted Feb 23rd 2010 10:00AM
Family Guy, Down Syndrome, Sarah PalinSarah Palin, a media gadfly who seems to have found more things to be offended about on television than the Parents Television Council, seems to pop up every time there is a joke about her and her family.

This time, Ellen, a character with Down syndrome voiced by actress Andrea Fay Friedman who also has Down syndrome, goes on a date with Chris and says that her mother is "the former Governor of Alaska." This sent the Palin family into an anger spiral that prompted her to trash the show and characterize it as an attack on her young son Trig, who also has Down syndrome, and everyone suffering from mental illness.

However, what Palin and the rest of the outraged among us fail to realize is that they suffer from a far greater disability: a lack of a sense of humor.

Mayim Bialik talks about her faith and her return to acting

by Kona Gallagher, posted Jul 14th 2009 1:00PM
saving grace mayim bialik
I suppose if you want to be cynical, you could say that Mayim Bialik is in the midst of a comeback, with several recent television roles, including guest stints on Bones, Secret Life of the American Teenager, and now, Saving Grace. However, it's not as though the erstwhile star of Blossom has spent the last fifteen years sitting around waiting for the phone to ring. After the series' end, she attended UCLA, got married, had two children, and even earned her PhD last year.

Ms. (er, Dr.) Bialik has indeed been busy, but she is now looking to make her way back into Hollywood. She's guest-starring on Saving Grace tonight as Esther, a Hasidic Jewish mother of seven, whose own mother is found murdered in a field full of dead cows. I spoke with Mayim about Saving Grace, the lasting legacy of Blossom, and how she hopes people see her today.
