by Gabrielle Dunn, posted Jul 30th 2010 2:30PM
CrystalyzeWe weren't exactly the biggest Lee DeWyze fans during this past season of 'American Idol,' but we'll admit that after we interviewed him last week, we're ready to call him our new BFF.

As you'll see after the jump, the interview turned out to be, as Lee might put it, amazing. (Though, as he told us, he's ready to pick a new favorite word.)

In this special SomethingPitchy interview, watch as the season 9 champ dishes on getting new tattoos, what it's like to be the star of the 'American Idol' tour and what his new album is going to sound like. (Get ready for lots of polka!)

Then, stick around for SP's favorite girl Crystal Bowersox, who told Gaby about her son's cute mispronunciations, her budding romance with TV host Jimmy Kimmel (not!) and her thoughts on the new Janis Joplin biopic. (How was she not cast, Hollywood?!)

'American Idol' Contestant Aaron Kelly on Songwriting, Going Country and Becoming an Uncle

by Gabrielle Dunn, posted Jun 21st 2010 2:00PM
Aaron KellyAaron Kelly has certainly been working his tail off since his run on 'American Idol' ended.

The 17-year-old high school student has already been writing songs for his upcoming album, which he hopes to release in the ever-lucrative modern country genre. (The male Taylor Swift anyone?)

Kelly, who finished in fifth place this season, spoke to TV Squad about his passion for songwriting, his new baby niece and which other 'Idol' contestant he doesn't want to bunk with on tour.

(As an aside: Kelly also called this reporter "ma'am" twice during our conversation, despite an age gap of only five years. What a gentleman ... I think?)

'American Idol' Contestant Siobhan Magnus on Meeting Hanson, Corsets and Writing Music

by Gabrielle Dunn, posted Jun 18th 2010 3:00PM
Siobhan MagnusSiobhan Magnus, a quirky girl from Massachusetts with a big voice, certainly brought her dramatic flair to season 9 of 'American Idol.'

Magnus was smoky and dark on Chris Isaak's 'Wicked Games,' hit an insane high note on Aretha Franklin's 'Think' and even got emotional on a cover of Whitney Houston's and Mariah Carey's 'When You Believe.'

Still, in our interview last week, Magnus kept mum on which songs she'll be singing during the Idols Live tour this summer, which officially kicks off Jul. 1 in Auburn Hills, MI.

She did, however, give her thoughts on crying when she met her favorite band, Hanson, her crazy costume changes on tour, what inspires her to write angry songs and her weird choice for who should replace exiting 'Idol' judge Simon Cowell.

Katie Stevens on Prepping for the 'American Idol' Tour and College

by Andrew Scott, posted Jun 16th 2010 3:00PM
Katie StevensKatie Stevens wowed the judges during the early rounds of 'American Idol' season 9, and after Hollywood Week, Kara DioGuardi was ready to peg her as the "potential winner."

Unfortunately for Katie, things didn't quite work out as Kara predicted; she was eliminated during the Top 9 reboot, alongside Andrew Garcia. (Read our interview with Andrew here.)

Still, Katie made a lasting impression on America, with solid performances of songs like 'Chasing Pavements' and the Beatles' 'Let it Be,' and by the end of her run, the 17-year-old proved that age really is just a number.

Last week, Katie spoke to TV Squad about her preparations for the 'Idols Live' tour, whether her grandma will attend the show and her plans for college.

Siobhan Magnus Performs 'Paint It Black' on 'American Idol' (VIDEO)

by AOL TV Staff, posted Mar 16th 2010 10:00PM
If 'American Idol' has taught us anything, it's that Siobhan Magnus can do no wrong. After weeks of performances, Magnus has yet to deliver a clunker, and tonight was no exception.

Magnus, who was a goth vision in a dark blue dress and black combat boots, gave a dramatic rendition of 'Paint It Black' by the Rolling Stones that started with strings and evolved into an up-tempo song with a piercing, sustained note at the end. For sure, it was dark and exaggerated, but we've come to expect nothing less from Magnus, and the judges ate it up.

by AOL TV Staff, posted Mar 10th 2010 10:00PM
Credit goes to Michael "Big Mike" Lynche for easily providing the strongest performance on 'American Idol' tonight. Lynche belted out an emotionally-connected rendition of Maxwell's 'This Woman's Work' that drew rave reviews from the judges and even brought Kara DioGuardi to tears.

"One of my favorite songs and, oh my God, that was so beautiful and it feels like the show just began. You are the one to beat now," Ellen DeGeneres said, borrowing a comment that Simon Cowell made last night to describe Crystal Bowersox as a shoo-in to win.

Siobhan Magnus Performs 'Think' on 'American Idol' (VIDEO)

by AOL TV Staff, posted Mar 3rd 2010 10:00PM
We agree with Simon Cowell that there's something decidedly strange about 'American Idol' contestant Siobhan Magnus. Perhaps it's her spacey, slow-talking manner of speech, or her peculiar job as a glass blowing apprentice. Still, there's no denying that Magnus sure can belt out a tune.

Magnus delivered a powerhouse performance of Aretha Franklin's 'Think' on 'American Idol' tonight, hitting a high note that bowled the judges over.

by AOL TV Staff, posted Mar 2nd 2010 10:00PM
It was, without a doubt, a night of mostly mediocre performances as the top 10 men hit the stage on 'American Idol,' but Lee Dewyze stood out with a rendition of Hinder's 'Lips of An Angel' that earned high marks from all the judges, including a compliment from Simon Cowell that Dewyze is "the best singer" among the group of men.

"A couple little pitch problems, but it doesn't matter," Ellen DeGeneres said. "There was so much passion and intensity ... It came out as a great performance because you were just really in that song. I thought that it was great."
