It was announced that the sequel to the recent Star Trek movie is going to be released on May 29th, 2012. This means we'll be able to catch the next Star Trek movie before the world ends, according to the Mayans.

Of course, a sequel was inevitable due to the fact that Star Trek was pretty much the biggest (and in my opinion the best) movie of this past summer. Paramount likely signed all the actors involved to multiple-movie contracts, so getting them back isn't an issue.

In mid-October, spoilers about the Sex and the City movie sequel started to leak as shooting begun. It won't spoil the fun if I confirm that the four ladies -- Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, Kim Cattrall and Kristin Davis -- are back and so are Chris Noth, Evan Handler and Jason Lewis.

Almost a year ago, it was announced that there would be a movie sequel for the hit TV series Sex and the City. It took years for producers and actresses to agree to a first movie, but a few months to decide a sequel was needed. Then again, with the popularity of the Sex and the City movie, it was inevitable that a sequel would follow.

Production is underway for the movie, set to be released at the end of May 2010, which means spoilers are leaking on the web! As expected, all four main ladies are back. But what is in store for them? Who, besides the ladies, will star in the movie?

It worked for Star Trek, right? The CW has gone to the next generation well with both 90210 and Melrose Place the past couple of years, to less than stellar results. So would it even be a good idea for TNT to pick up a sequel series to the '80s classic Dallas?

The premise of the relaunch would be for the show to focus on the next generation of Ewings, featuring J.R. and Sue Ellen's son John Ross and Christopher, the adopted son of Bobby and Pam, as the new leads. The producers have already been in touch with original actors Larry Hagman, Linda Gray and Patrick Duffy to discuss their possible involvement.

While there's no guarantee of a series, it does look like a pilot at least will be filmed. They'd have to be careful to make sure it appeals to people who've never seen Dallas, because that's getting to be a long time ago now. But there's always room on television for a well written family soap opera. Me, I'm still holding out for a next generation iteration of Soap.

So William Shatner says he hasn't seen the new Star Trek movie yet. But he says that he knows it has gotten some great reviews and he's really looking forward to seeing it. He also says he'd delighted to be in the next movie.

So what do you think? Is having Shatner in the next movie a great way to please old Trek fans or do you think having yet another character from the original series would be pushing it, considering they already had Leonard Nimoy in the first one (which is pretty much how I'm leaning)?

This summer, I wrote about my love for all things V -- including lizard babies and future Freddie Kreuger aliens -- when the buzz was that there was a V movie script out and about, one that would lead to a sequel series.

Not sure if that script has become a future movie, but Jason tells us there is some more fun news on the front for V fans, and if ABC doesn't let down its fans yet again, then we could be seeing a remake of the original V series on ABC sometime soon.

Me? I say ... yay! But that's a yay with caution. Just because ABC has ordered the pilot doesn't mean it will get any farther than that. And there are pilots made every day that no one ever gets to see. Furthermore, the support that ABC has shown its quirky shows this year -- and V could be seriously quirky -- has not been stellar (Pushing Daisies, Eli Stone and Dirty Sexy Money, anyone?).

Both Toon Zone and ICv2 have written of a supposed Entertainment Tonight report that there will be a sequel to the recently-released Transformers movie (which has already been a line of toys, several animated TV series, a comic book and a feature-length animated film).

However, my scan of the ET site has not brought up anything of the sort, and while a couple articles from other sites do allude to the possibility of a sequel, I see nothing that could be construed as an official announcement.

That's "V" as in the letter "V," not the Roman numeral for "five." Otherwise, I guess the sequel would be "VI."

Now, the original V aired when I was about seven, so I never watched much of the original miniseries, or the TV series that followed. It's not like I couldn't have watched it as a seven year old, but I was kind of a wuss when I was a kid and those scary lizard people were too much for me. If any of you would like to go back in time and heckle me as a seven year old, feel free to do that. Seriously, that kid needs some toughening up.

So anyway, TV Filter hepped me to information about a possible miniseries sequel to the original series, helmed by original writer and director Kenneth Johnson. Right now it seems they're trying to secure the finances needed to do the series, but before that happens you'll be able to purchase the novel based on Johnson's screenplay by early 2007. According to the IMDb trivia page for V - The Second Generation, several original cast members have signed on to the project, including Robert "Freddy Krueger" Englund. This is IMDb, so I don't necessarily trust the information completely, but if all of this turns out to be true, it could be a very cool thing for fans of the series.

You might think that fifteen years is too long to wait to make a sequel to Backdraft, but that's only if you're Ron Howard. If you're alternative comics Eugene Mirman, Jon Benjamin, and Sam Seder, you forge ahead and make a sequel anyway, despite not really knowing a whole lot about the original film. It's called Backdraft II: Backdraftier, and I haven't seen anything this funny in quite some time. Please, won't you share in my joy? Mirman explains he wanted to make sequels to movies that didn't need a sequel. That makes absolutely no sense, and that's why it's brilliant.
