'Life Unexpected' Series Finale: Were You Satisfied?

by Jean Bentley, posted Jan 19th 2011 10:15AM
Life UnexpectedLast night, The CW aired what is likely (but not officially) the series finale of 'Life Unexpected.' While the family drama was full of throwback WB charm, it failed to connect with enough viewers to keep it on the air.

In the two-hour episode, the series wrapped up all of its loose ends in a giant bow fit for a Christmas car commercial. But you know what? It was satisfying to find out what happened to the characters we'd grown to know and love. The ending wasn't all happy, but it sure was neat. Guess that's what happens when you know how much time you have left.

'Undercovers' Series Finale: The Show Comes to an End -- Sort of (VIDEO)

by Oliver Miller, posted Dec 30th 2010 1:31AM
'Undercovers' Series Finale: The Show Comes to an End -- Sort of Every story is a mystery story -- even if the tale itself doesn't involve clues or a crime. Whether it's a sitcom about mismatched roommates, a game show, or a reality show about people living in New Jersey, we still watch every TV program for the same reason: to find out what happens at the end.

It's a natural human desire to learn what happens next. But this might be a problem where 'Undercovers' is concerned. You see, the spy drama has been canceled. Tonight's episode (Wed., 8PM ET on NBC) is the 11th installment of the show. Two episodes remain, but they might never be aired. So, this could be the end.

Every story is a mystery story, but the latest (and maybe last) episode of 'Undercovers' gave us a literal mystery as well. ... What was in the locker?

7 Reasons the 'Lost' Finale Was Satisfying and Disappointing

by AOL TV Staff, posted Dec 17th 2010 3:00PM
'Lost' series finale
Countdown to Festivus on Dec. 23: On the seventh day of Festivus, TV gave us to ... seven ways the 'Lost' finale satisfied and seven ways it disappointed.

For some fans of 'Lost,' last May's series finale brought relief in the form of answers to longstanding mysteries and tear-inducing character moments.

But for other fans, the finale produced only disappointment.

As it had for its entire run, 'Lost' divided viewers over its finale. Did the ending provide enough of a pay-off for sticking through six seasons filled with unlucky numbers, a smoke monster, time traveling and a four-toed statue? Two of our writers take opposing viewpoints ...

On His Final Show, Larry King Says Goodbye to ... Larry King (VIDEO)

by Oliver Miller, posted Dec 17th 2010 1:40AM
On His Final Show, Larry King Says Goodbye to ... Larry KingIt was like looking into a mirror -- a mirror of journalistic awesomeness. On the final episode of 'Larry King Live' (weeknights, 9PM ET on CNN), Larry welcomed a parade of special guests, including former President Bill Clinton, Tony Bennett, Regis Philbin, and Arnold Schwarzenegger -- all of whom paid their respects to the host, as he ended his CNN talk show after 25 years on the air.

But perhaps the most "special" guest was ... Mr. Larry King himself (played by comedian Fred Armisen). Fake "Larry" interviewed real Larry, and asked the host some probing but severely odd questions, including, "Now, Larry, what's been my favorite interview?" and "What's the most interesting thing about me?"

Real Larry also complimented fake "Larry" on his outfit -- which, of course, included his trademark glasses and some brightly colored suspenders.

'Big Love': The Endgame

by Gary Susman, posted Nov 7th 2010 4:00PM
Big Love
Now that we know that the upcoming season of 'Big Love' will be its last, there are still plenty of questions about how -- and even why -- the show will end after the fifth season, which premieres Jan. 16.

For one thing, did HBO kill the once-groundbreaking polygamist drama, or did the series commit suicide? Did fan disappointment over season 4 affect the decision to bring the show to a close, or influence the way the show will tie up its many narrative loose ends? How will the show resolve all those dangling plot strands? And what legacy will 'Big Love' have left for the rest of television?

Here are some possible answers.

'Warehouse 13' Season 2, Episode 12 (Season Finale) Recap

by Mike Moody, posted Sep 22nd 2010 6:35AM
'Warehouse 13'['Warehouse 13' - 'Reset']

'Warehouse 13'
shut the door on Season 2 with an enormously entertaining final hour. The season ended with an emotional cliffhanger that ruptured the show's warm and fuzzy family dynamic and left some of our major players in tears. It's gonna be a long, long year waiting for it to return to the tube.

So Artie was right after all: H.G. Wells turned out to be a bitter Big Bad waiting to happen, and her tricky turncoat ways caused Myka to doubt her role as a Warehouse agent. It's easy to sympathize with Myka's decision to leave the Warehouse and go on a vision quest: Her choice to trust H.G. almost led to the end of the world as we know it. That's gotta be a heavy load to carry. It certainly makes sense that Myka wasn't able to instantly forgive herself for allowing H.G. to weasel her way into the heart of the Warehouse.

A Fond Farewell to 'As the World Turns'

by Michael Maloney, posted Sep 17th 2010 1:40PM
As the World TurnsThe world is no longer turning. At least that's how it feels for the countless fans of 'As the World Turns.'

The historic soap opera ends its 54-year run today. Legendary serial queen Irna Phillips created the ground-breaking drama, which debuted on April 2, 1956, on CBS. As times changed, so did the show, but the family unit was always at the core of the beloved series.

"'ATWT' was a trailblazer," reflected Emmy-winning writer-producer Jonathan Reiner, who spent seven years at Soap Opera Weekly. "It was one of the first half-hour shows and used hallmarks and techniques that the genre became famous for, such as the lingering close-up, exposition over coffee, a greater depth of character so that we knew motivations. This was all thanks to Irna Phillips, writer Bill Bell and director Ted Corday."

'As the World Turns' Finale Tribute: The Soap Opera's Top 20 Moments

by Michael Maloney, posted Sep 15th 2010 3:00PM
As the World TurnsNarrowing down the thousands of memorable moments to a mere 20 from 54 years of 'As the World Turns' is no easy feat.

It's especially tough to do since actors on the show are still turning in powerhouse performances. (Note to Kathryn Hays: Your performance as Kim dealing with her son Chris' heart condition on Sept. 2 was Emmy-worthy. Consider submitting yourself next year.)

There were many shocking moments and storylines that didn't make the list: Hal and Barbara's love story, Jack accidentally killing Brad, Bob and Kim finding Sabrina, John and Lucinda in the hot tub, Shannon's "shrunken head," Tom and Margo battling Mr. Big, Tad Channing's murder ... well, you get the idea.

Read on for a list of 20 memorable favorite moments from the beloved CBS soap opera, which will exit the airwaves on Fri, Sept. 17.

10 Things I Learned From 'Freaks and Geeks'

Freaks and Geeks
It's been 10 years since 'Freaks and Geeks' ended (the finale aired July 8, 2000). The last we saw of Lindsay Weir she was heading off into the sunset with her Deadhead classmates.

Looking back at the show, it's evident that the short-lived series had a pretty profound impact on pop culture. Not only did the show give viewers a closer look stars-in-the-making Linda Cardellini, Seth Rogen, James Franco and Jason Segel, but it also showcased some great music. There was something for everybody in 'Freaks and Geeks' and its themes still resonate today as much as they did 10 years ago.

Could Tonight be the Series Finale of 'Party Down'?

Jane Lynch in Party Down
'Party Down' has been the little show that could for two years, but this might be the end of the line.

Don't get me wrong, I love the series, but it seems that it's just me and about 200,000 other people who regularly tune in for the smart little comedy.

Tonight, Fri., June 25 at 10PM on Starz, Jane Lynch returns to the show for the second season finale and possibly series finale. Why is a show with so much praise staring cancellation in the face? Well, a few reasons.

'Lost' - 'The End' Recap (Series Finale)

by Jason Hughes, posted May 24th 2010 2:31AM
'Lost' - 'The End'(S06E17/18) I was right! I was right! Well, I was probably more wrong than right, but I was right about one key thing, which makes me very happy. Happy not just because I'm right, but because what I'm right about is just so appropriate; so perfect for this series finale.

As finales go, 'The End' will definitely go down as one of the more satisfying ones; even though it didn't come close to answering all of our questions about the Island and its special properties. But creators Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse promised that we would be satisfied with the conclusions of the character arcs, and in that regard I think they're right.

At two-and-a-half hours, I'm still digesting everything they threw at me. I struggle at times to sort out a typical one hour episode, much less a feature film length one. But I'm glad the finale will linger with me in the weeks to come, because it is bittersweet saying goodbye to 'Lost.' There has been nothing like it on television, and there may never be again. That it succeeded at all is a miracle.

He sends it to Gawker, of course (see also iPhone, Apple's new). And it looks like it's the real thing because ABC contacted Gawker and they want the call sheet back.

'Ugly Betty' - 'Hello Goodbye' Recap (Series Finale)

A really wonderful thing happened at the end of the series finale of 'Ugly Betty.' Betty Suarez got a new beginning. In the tradition of many television series finales, there were many loose ends tied up, and because 'Betty' was more comedy than drama, it only stood to reason that they were mostly happy endings.

All they needed was Liza Minnelli to sing about it, but alas, there was no musical number to sum it all up. However, there was plenty of character development and plot turns. For more on that and how even Halston got a fashionable farewell, read on after the jump. However, if you don't want to know, consider this a SPOILER ALERT!
