'Hung' is the Best Show on Television ... About Dicks

by Dr. Ryan Vaughan, PhD (no, seriously), posted Jun 25th 2010 5:00PM
Hung
With so many shows about male genitalia ('The Bachelorette,' 'Entourage,' 'Cake Boss') it's difficult to sift through them all and find the cream of the crop. Well, sift no longer because HBO's 'Hung' blows them all away ... and if you're waiting for a third penis pun, here it is: The show is kind of weird when you first see it, but when you realize what it's trying to do, it feels good.

Starz Eyes 'Insatiable'

by Brad Trechak, posted Apr 13th 2010 3:00PM
InsatiableLeave it to a premium cable network like Starz to figure out a way to combine The Food Network with Cinemax. They will be producing a series based on former New York magazine writer Gael Greene's 2006 memoir of her time as a food critic.

Greene has most recently been seen on television as a judge for 'Top Chef Masters' on Bravo. She's been writing about food for over 40 years.

But don't let her career as a writer fool you into thinking of this as another cookbook. She slept with porn stars, famous chefs and the Studio 54 set (including a tryst with the King of Rock and Roll). In other words, it's perfect fodder for one of those cable adult dramas that creep into the softcore porn territory (and can use the analogy of eating as sex).

Starz itself is becoming a player in the game with the success of its 'Spartacus: Blood and Sand' series. It looks like the network seeks to continue the streak.

Do They Really Have Sex on 'The Bachelor'? (VIDEO)

by Jane Boursaw, posted Mar 16th 2010 2:26AM

The Bachelor, Sex, 20/20It's that question burning a hole in everyone's mind. Do the guys and girls on 'The Bachelor' really have sex? In a word, yes, as we learned on '20/20' ( Mon., 8PM ET on ABC).

But, really, it's not like that's a big shocker. A guy and a girl. Skimpy outfits. Champagne. Steamy hot tub ... um, no, they just look longingly at each other and call it good.

And who had the most sex out of all the bachelors? That would be Bob Guiney, who bedded down five and a half women. Wait, what? Five and a half?

The World Is Ending, So Have Sex With a Stranger (And Drink Pepsi Max!)

by Bob Sassone, posted Feb 22nd 2010 2:03PM
I'm not quite sure how Pepsi Max even fits into the commercial below, except in a "yo, we just did something awesome, high five and let's drink Pepsi!" sort of way. It shows a bunch of people in a bar who see a TV report that the world is ending. Some freak out, some decide to have sex. This takes the term "wing man" to a whole new level.

A Pastor on 'Judge Alex' Can't Remember Having Sex With His Wife (VIDEO)

by Harley W. Lond, posted Feb 18th 2010 7:18PM
A pastor attempting to reclaim a loan from his ex-wife on 'Judge Alex' (weekdays, syndicated) was questioned by Judge Alex Ferrer about his philosophy on sex, marriage and consummation. "What is your viewpoint about premarital sex as a pastor," Ferrer asked.

"According to theology, it's consummation that makes your marriage anyway," the pastor replied. "So is that a yes or a no for premarital sex," Ferrer asked. "I believe in it," the pastor responded." "You have to try it before you buy it." But when he was asked if he had had premarital sex with his ex-wife, the pastor conveniently drew a blank.

Whoopi Goldberg on Multiple Sex Partners (VIDEO)

The View, Whoopi Goldberg, Multiple Sex PartnersOnly on 'The View' (weekdays, 11AM ET on ABC) could a discussion on cats and dogs in bed turn to multiple sex partners.

When Whoopi Goldberg started talking about having "people" in her bed, the conversation screeched to a halt until she could explain herself. Has she had more than one person in her bed at the same time? "This is not a visual any of you want," said Whoopi. Yeah, we'll agree with that.

Australian Yaris commercial yanked after complaints

by Bob Sassone, posted Dec 15th 2009 4:06PM
Some commercials are just suggestive when it comes to sex and others are just up front and blunt about it. Like this Yaris ad from Australia. I had to watch it twice to hear what the guy says at the very end.

Oh, the commercial has been pulled because of protests but lives on via YouTube!

Vamps Aren't Tramps: Why Vampires Rule Right Now

by Stephanie Earp, posted Dec 8th 2009 11:55PM

What is the deal with vampires? That seems to be the question on everyone's lips this season. Not just us commoners either - last week George Stromboulopolos asked Shawn Ashmore for his opinion (who is apparently qualified to answer based on his appearance in the 'X-Men' movies) - and Shawn had no reply. When such great minds as these are flummoxed, who am I to tackle the subject? And yet, here we are.

I think we all know that vampires in pop culture are metaphorical, but we're not really sure what they're standing in for. With zombies, George Romero pretty much decided it for us. In fact, the idea that zombies stand for consumerism is so entrenched that one of the few moments of purposeful comedy in 'New Moon' has Bella's friend dismissing the latest horror flick for being so predictable.

HBO: Sex! Hollywood! Vampires!

by Jane Boursaw, posted Aug 2nd 2009 11:02AM
True Blood - Sookie Stackhouse and Bill ComptonI must confess that I really don't pay that much attention to TV ratings. I realize that I'm just one girl, and whether I love a show or not doesn't make a wit of difference as to whether other people will love it -- and love it enough to keep it on the air. As a TV writer, I've pretty much resigned myself to the fact that TV shows come and go, and sometimes nobody watches the good ones, which results in them leaving the air far too soon.

But I've found myself gravitating towards HBO shows, because they seem to be consistently good, no matter the ratings. Sometimes I'm crazy about the shows right off the bat. Such was the case with True Blood, which I review here on TV Squad.

Miami Social: Liar Liar (series premiere) - open thread

by Bob Sassone, posted Jul 15th 2009 8:00AM
Miami Social

How many reality shows featuring beautiful people going to parties and arguing do we need? How many does Bravo need? I really hate the direction that the cable channel has gone in the past several years. An endless supply of Real Housewives shows, NYC Prep, America's Next Top Model, The Fashion Show, Flipping Out, Make Me A Supermodel, Millionaire Matchmaker, Tabatha's Salon Takeover ... make it stop!

Having said that, did you watch Miami Social? And if so ... why?

Here's a sneak peek of tonight's Miami Social premiere

by Bob Sassone, posted Jul 14th 2009 10:36AM
Since Bravo doesn't think there are enough people to dislike on television, here comes Miami Social. Vapid women? Check. Guys with their shirts off? Check. Dumb conversations? Check. Too much drinking and partying? Check?

I just realized that all of the negative things I just mentioned will probably make you want to tune in. Here's a preview. The only way I'll watch this is if they do a crossover with Burn Notice.
