Colbert ignores U.S. speed skater who called him a jerk, for now
by Danny Gallagher, posted Dec 9th 2009 8:03PM
It's been two days worth of new episodes now and Stephen Colbert has suddenly stopped talking about his beloved Olympic speed skating team. It's a surprise since the man has given more props to his sponsorship of the team than Gatorade does for the Super Bowl. That may be because team member Shani Davis called Colbert a "jerk" for running his smear campaign against the Canadians, a smear campaign that seemed to get the Canadians to back and give his team practice time on Canada's ice. It even almost seemed as though Colbert was going to address the name-calling in his opening "Who's Attacking Me Now" segment on Monday, but instead went into the comments made by White House Recovery Act Coordinator G. Edward DeSeve.
Should Colbert call out Davis for his name calling and more importantly, will he?
Stephen Colbert makes Canada jokes, speedskater calls him a jerk
by Bob Sassone, posted Dec 4th 2009 4:29PM
As you've probably heard, Stephen Colbert is sponsoring the U.S. Olympic speedskating team. He raised around $300,000 for it. But that's not good enough for at least one of the players, Shani Davis. At a press conference yesterday, he called Colbert a jerk for making jokes about Canada in an episode of The Colbert Report last month. Here's the segment. You be the judge.

The Olympics: Day 12
by Anna Johns, posted Feb 21st 2006 12:11PM
The event that usually garners the most talk is women's figure
skating, and it begins tonight with the short program. With Michelle Kwan out of the competition due to injuries,
American skater Sasha Cohen gets the spotlight. And, Emily Hughes, the younger sister of 2002 Olympic gold medal figure
skater Sarah Hughes, will also hit the ice. No pressure, Emily. Despite all the excitement over Sasha's modeling
contracts and Emily's famous sister, Russian skater Irina Slutskaya is still favored for gold. Also on the ice tonight, speed skaters Chad Hedrick, Shani Davis, Joey Cheek and Derek Parra race each other in the 1500m. Hedrick, Davis, and Cheek have all won gold medals so far in these games.
