'America's Got Talent' Backstage Report: Did Piers Morgan Buzz a Little Girl Because of Nick Cannon's Dare?

by Michael Maloney, posted Aug 11th 2011 7:00AM
Breena Bell The audience at home mostly has the final say on whether or not an act progresses to the next round on 'America's Got Talent,' but a strike ("X") from the judges is still pretty much the kiss of death for a competitor.

None of the six performers/acts from Tuesday night that received a dreaded red buzz from judges Piers Morgan (who gave five) and Howie Mandel (who gave one) are advancing to the semi-finals.

The lucky ones that did advance include dancer Beth Ann Robinson, bicyclist Matt Willheim, circus performers Gymkana and singer Kevin Colis.

Morgan pretty much sealed the fate of agile tumbler Breena Bell when he gave her a strike on Tuesday's show.

Why'd he do it?

Royal Pins? Sharon Osbourne Fumbles Interview With Julie Benz (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Aug 3rd 2011 5:35PM
Julie Benz of 'Royal Pains' on 'The Talk'Sharon Osbourne has had her share of flubs on 'The Talk' (weekdays, syndicated on CBS), and she continued her streak with guest Julie Benz. The 'Dexter' and 'No Ordinary Family' alum was on the show to talk about her latest TV role on 'Royal Pains.' Osbourne apparently misread her cue cards.

"Can you tell us about the character you play in 'Royal Pins?'" asked Osbourne. She was quickly corrected by her fellow panel members, and simply asked again, "What is the character?" Benz laughed it off. "For those of you who watch the show, I play the mom to Libby, and I'm a lesbian alpaca farmer," she said.

Sharon Osbourne Talks 'AGT,' Son Jack Being a Cop on 'Chelsea Lately' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Aug 2nd 2011 5:44AM
Sharon Osbourne, 'Chelsea Lately'Sharon Osbourne really does love her job as a judge on 'America's Got Talent,' but she admits it can be a bit taxing at times. When pressed specifically if she ever asks what she is doing there on 'Chelsea Lately' (Weeknights, 11PM ET on E!), she admitted that it happens sometimes.

It's the variety, though, that keeps it fresh and interesting. "Could you imagine if it was just country singers?" Osbourne said. "One whiney country singer after another. I would go insane."

The pair then talked a little bit about Sharon's son Jack, in response to a story that's hit the press about him being a cop, or intending to become on. Sharon dropped the bomb that he's been a reserve officer for three years. How did the paparazzi miss that one? Is Jack not exciting enough to follow everywhere he goes like the rest of his family?

The Women of 'The Talk' Debate Male Birth Control and Celibacy (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Jul 26th 2011 5:45PM
Leah Remini talks male birth control on 'The Talk'With a male birth control pill reportedly well on its way to market, the women of 'The Talk' (weekdays, syndicated on CBS) discussed whether they'd trust men to use it properly, and what the future would look like with more male options for birth control. What they foresaw was not pretty.

On the question of whether she would trust her man to take a daily birth control pill, Leah Remini gave a resounding "Hells no," adding, "I can just see our husbands with the little packet going, 'Uh, okay, missed, missed, missed, uh ... Dude, do we take 29 at the same time?'" Sharon Osbourne also thought less condom use could bring disgusting results. "Everybody would be covered, covered in herpes," she said.

The conversation then turned to celibacy, more specifically, women who have decided not to have sex. "The person really annoys me who says, I won't have sex, but I will do this, this, and this," said Remini. Holly Robinson Peete thought there were good reasons to have sex before marrying a partner. "How do you know if the guy is going to be delivering the goods if you don't take a test drive?" she said. Ladies just might want to check the guy's packet first.

Kevin Nealon and Sharon Osbourne Compare Toilets on 'The Talk' (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Jul 22nd 2011 6:30PM
Kevin Nealon and Sharon Osbourne on 'The Talk'The best part of Kevin Nealon's house, he said Friday on 'The Talk' (weekdays, syndicated on CBS), is the toilet. Or more specifically, the toilet seat, which goes down softly and quietly with just a little push. It might seem like an unusual item, but it wasn't quite impressive enough for Sharon Osbourne.

"I'm in bed by the time it hits the porcelain," boasted Nealon. That sparked a couple of questions. Julie Chen asked if it was heated. Osbourne then asked, "Does it blow dry?" as the panel looked at her like she was crazy. "No, I have a toilet that blow dries!"

"How much hair do you have back there?" Nealon replied. Leah Remini thought Osbourne might have been thinking of a bidet, but Osbourne said no. She has a toilet that is heated, lifts, blow dries, and washes. Beware of the bathroom in the Osbourne house. Particularly if you're Ozzy.

'America's Got Talent' Backstage Report: Will Steven Retchless Change Who He Is?

by Michael Maloney, posted Jul 21st 2011 7:00AM
Nick Cannon and Steven RetchlessIt's not a given that there will be a "wild card" episode of 'America's Got Talent' so ejected acts can come back and try again to compete for the $1 million prize, but eliminated magician Landon Swank is reason enough to have one this year.

The judges had to decide tonight between Swank and Smage Bros., the motorcyle stunt team, as to which act would make it through to the semi-finals. After judges Piers Morgan and Sharon Osbourne split their votes between the acts, it was left to judge Howie Mandel to break the tie -- and he chose the Smage Bros.

"I don't want to be the person responsible for sending someone home," Mandel sighed to AOL TV after the taping. Still, he feels he made the right decision.

EXCLUSIVE: Sharon Osbourne Confirms She's Taking a Break from 'The Talk'

Sharon Osbourne
The soap-themed Web site Daytime Confidential reported earlier this week that Sharon Osbourne, who's pulling double duty as a judge on 'America's Got Talent' and co-host of 'The Talk,' soon will be leaving the CBS daytime talk show.

Last night, Osbourne confirmed exclusively to AOL TV that the buzz is true -- however, she says that she won't be making a complete departure.

When the talk show returns from a summer vacation with new episodes in September, Osbourne will be taking a break from the show so she can spend more time with her rock star husband, Ozzy Osbourne.

'America's Got Talent' Backstage Report: Why 'Those Funny Little People' Might Go to the Finals

by Michael Maloney, posted Jul 13th 2011 7:00AM
Those Funny Little PeopleA dozen of dynamic (and some not so dynamic) acts appeared in the first quarter-finals on 'America's Got Talent' last night. 'Miami All-Stars' is arguably the best dance group that's ever appeared on the show while 'Sandou Trio Russian Bar' performed a death-defying act that served as a memorable show-stopper.

But it's 'Those Funny Little People' that may stand the best chance of advancing to the next round. Why, you ask? The over-sized puppets managed to not only entertain with their homages to 'Singin' in the Rain' and 'It's Raining Men,' but, perhaps more importantly, the group, which was supported by judge Howie Mandel, truly got under the skin of judge Piers Morgan.

And while viewers watch 'AGT' to see the next million-dollar act get discovered they also tune in to watch the bickering between Morgan, Mandel and fellow judge Sharon Osbourne.

AOL TV was on the scene at the show's taping in Hollywood last night and spoke to the judges after the show about the funny big effect that 'Those Funny Little People' have on Morgan.

Cedric the Entertainer Previews New 'It's Worth What?' Game Show on 'The Talk' (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Jul 12th 2011 6:40PM
Cedric the Entertainer previews 'It's Worth What?' on 'The Talk'Anyone wondering what Cedric the Entertainer's new game show 'It's Worth What?' will actually look like got a preview Tuesday on 'The Talk' (weekdays, syndicated on CBS). Cedric gave the ladies a preview, challenging them to guess the prices of several items that could either be junk or expensive antiques.

Cedric had with him two items -- a black velvet and white taffeta gown once worn by Princess Diana for a charity event in 1985, and an acoustic guitar signed by Elvis Presley. The hosts were charged with figuring out which item was worth more. Leah Remini was the tie-breaker, and went with the guitar.

The signed guitar was worth $30,000, a lot of money to be sure. But the dress was worth twice as much. Sharon Osbourne, who had voted for the dress, was not happy. Hopefully the contestants on Tuesday's 'Worth What?' premiere will be less contentious.

Piers Morgan Remembers His Rough First Meeting With Sharon Osbourne (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Jul 11th 2011 5:15PM
Piers Morgan and Sharon Osbourne on 'The Talk'Dainty. Shy. Well-heeled. These are descriptions that do not apply to Sharon Osbourne. Just ask Piers Morgan, who described his first meeting with Osbourne Monday on 'The Talk' (weekdays, syndicated on CBS). The two work together as judges on 'America's Got Talent', but according to Morgan, Jerry Springer needed to be led away from the scene of their first meeting for fear it might scar him emotionally.

The first meeting was a dinner, and Morgan said Osbourne had had a glass of wine or two, and ended up sneaking up behind him. "It ended up with her coming up behind me," he said, "in front of all these executives from NBC, strangling me, trying to kill me, and screaming, 'You're just a Simon Cowell wannabe.'"

'The Talk' Ladies Discuss Mark Halperin's Presidential Gaffe (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Jun 30th 2011 5:50PM
Leah Remini, Sara Gilbert, and Sharon Osbourne on 'The Talk'Thursday morning on 'Morning Joe,' Mark Halperin of Time Magazine and MSNBC said he thought President Obama was "kind of a dick" in his recent press conference. Halperin was quickly suspended by MSNBC, and critiques of his comment poured in from all corners, including a couple on Thursday's edition of 'The Talk' (weekdays, syndicated on CBS).

Holly Robinson Peete started the discussion on a lighter note, saying, "There hasn't been a man called 'Dick' in the oval office since President Richard Nixon." Leah Remini said she liked the fact that the president could be kind of a dick. "I don't know, I like to hear that people are like hard-asses a little bit, especially our president," she said.

Sharon Osbourne said that wasn't the context in which Halperin used the term. "He didn't say 'this guy is a ball-buster, he's a toughie,'" said Osbourne. "He did it in a very disrespectful way."

by Nick Zaino, posted Jun 24th 2011 5:35PM
Jackie Evancho on 'The Talk'Jackie Evancho has had quite a few adventures since rising to fame last year on 'America's Got Talent.' The 11-year-old singer released a best-selling Christmas album and more recently released her major label debut, 'Dream With Me.' Friday on 'The Talk' (weekdays, syndicated on CBS), 'Talent' judge Sharon Osbourne asked Evancho about the favorite people she's met and places she's been.

Evancho has been enjoying a slice of Hollywood life. Her favorite place? "I love being in Malibu," she said. "It's so cool there, and the water is just, it's nice and, and I love the beach. And I found a sand dollar there."

She also got to meet Oprah Winfrey, Mohammed Ali, and President Obama. Evancho sang at the White House and got to meet the Obama girls. "They're really nice," she said. Just your normal kid stuff.

Sharon Osbourne Has a Gross Theory About Lindsay Lohan's Positive Alcohol Test (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Jun 23rd 2011 5:10PM
Sharon Osbourne talks about Lindsay Lohan on 'The Talk''Lindsay Lohan was supposed to sit down with Matt Lauer of 'Today' on Tuesday for an interview, but it got called off. Then came the story that Lohan had failed a urine test, which came up positive for alcohol but was otherwise clean. Thursday on 'The Talk' (weekdays, syndicated on CBS) Sharon Osbourne expressed sympathy for Lauer having flown 3,000 miles for an interview that was canceled. But she also had an excuse for Lohan, albeit a convoluted one.

Osbourne joked that she thought Lohan's "wee wee" was tainted by a feminine hygiene product. "I don't think she was drinking," said Osbroune. "I think she was cleaning her ... with a feminine wipe. They have alcohol on them."

Around that time, Osbourne said she had someone in her ear telling her "enough about Lindsay Lohan." Which is OK, because her co-hosts needed a minute to catch their breath from laughing.

Sharon Osbourne Wants to Lick Shemar Moore (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Jun 21st 2011 5:40PM
Shemar Moore on 'The Talk'Shemar Moore caused a bit of a stir with Sharon Osbourne, not to mention Holly Robinson Peete's mother, when he appeared on 'The Talk' (weekdays, syndicated on CBS) Tuesday. Moore, who plays FBI agent Derek Morgan on 'Criminal Minds,' made the cover of Maximum Fitness magazine, appearing without a shirt. He joked that he wasn't in that kind of shape at the moment, but then displayed his abs anyway.

That's what made Osbourne swoon. "You need a really good licking," she said. When Moore reminded her she was married, Osbourne said she couldn't help it if Moore made her feel "funny in certain places."
