Shay Mitchell Talks the 'Pretty Little Liars' Finale, Road Rage and Running in Heels

by Jean Bentley, posted Mar 21st 2011 2:30PM
Shay Mitchell, 'Pretty Little Liars'None of the stars of 'Pretty Little Liars' are very good at sharing -- well, at least when it comes to plot details. We're not saying they're lying like their on-screen alter-egos, but they've certainly mastered the art of the tease.

Shay Mitchell, who plays newly out lesbian Emily on the hit ABC Family series, called up TV Squad last week to chat about the show. Try as we might, the actress wouldn't spill any deets about tonight's first season finale (Monday, March 21, 8PM ET). And we tried really hard.

"I would love to tell you that, but I really want the fans to go into it without knowing too much," Mitchell explained. OK, we can respect that.

Luckily, she did tell us all about what it's like playing Emily, her secret dark side and the cast's reaction to the "crazy" season finale.

One clue she did let slip: There will be more clues. "They find a clue that reveals the huge secret that will change things forever," Mitchell said. Any guesses? Keep reading to hear more spoiler-free goodness ...

'Pretty Little Liars' Stars Tease Next Week's Season Finale

by Breia Brissey, posted Mar 14th 2011 1:00PM
Pretty Little Liars, Shay Mitchell, Ashley Benson, Troian BellisarioAs it turns out, the stars of 'Pretty Little Liars' really can keep a secret.

TV Squad caught up with Troian Bellisario, Ashley Benson, and Shay Mitchell at ABC Family's upfront event last week, and all three ladies were frustratingly silent on what fans can expect during next week's season finale.

"All of the girls have dealt with so much the entire season, but nothing will compare to what they have to deal with in the season finale," said Mitchell, who plays Emily. "And I am talking slow because I totally could tell you everything. But that would ruin it, and I'm not going to. So I have to be very careful in what I say. But it's going to end with a bang."

Fortunately, after a little bit of coaxing the ladies finally dropped a few hints about what will take place during 'For Whom The Bell Tolls.' Benson, who stars as Hanna, specifically said the last five minutes are a must see. "All four girls are put at high risks. We're pushed to our limits. We go through this huge obstacle course," she said. "I really can't tell you too much, but the last five minutes are unreal. You get very close to knowing who 'A' is. Insane things happen!"

On 'Pretty Little Liars,' Toby Gets the Hell out of Town (VIDEO)

by Oliver Miller, posted Jul 20th 2010 11:20PM
On 'Pretty Little Liars,' Toby Gets the Hell out of TownOn the previous episode of 'Pretty Little Liars' (Tue., 8PM ET on ABC Family), we were all sort of left wondering if Emily was dead or not. And here's your quick answer to that question ...

[Spoiler alert.]

... Nope. She's not dead! Duh! Did you really think the show would kill off one of its main characters? But now, on the latest episode, we have a new mystery. After their disastrous prom date, Toby (Keegan Allen) drops Emily off at the hospital. But soon enough, thanks to some TV magic, Emily (Shay Mitchell) is walking around -- looking amazingly unharmed by her near-death experience, except for some fake-looking bandages.

But what of the new mystery, you ask? After leaving Emily at the hospital, Toby skips town on his motorcycle. Then, later on, his bike is found wrecked. IS TOBY DEAD? Look, we don't know. But the Magic 8-Ball in our heads says: All Signs Point to "No." Feel free to fret about Toby if you like, though. But somehow, we predict that we'll be seeing him again.

A Death on 'Pretty Little Liars' (VIDEO)

by Oliver Miller, posted Jul 13th 2010 11:00PM
A Death on 'Pretty Little Liars'It's homecoming dance night on 'Pretty Little Liars' (Tue., 8PM ET on ABC Family). In high school, dances usually lead to drama no matter what. But given the nature of this show, you should expect extra-high levels of weirdness and backstabbing.

[Spoiler alert.]

Emily (Shay Mitchell) brings somewhat creepy guy Toby to homecoming. But then, while they're at the dance, Emily's friends learn some unexpected revelations about Toby (Keegan Allen) -- and these revelations lead them to believe that he is the person who murdered their friend Alison (Sasha Pieterse).

Then, blackmail and accusations of step-brother/step-sister sex are thrown into the mix. All of which basically gives us the perfect 'Pretty Little Liars' dance night.

At the end of the episode, Emily runs from suspected killer Toby in terror. While fleeing, she stumbles -- and falls. Then the screen fades to black.

A Vengeful Message on 'Pretty Little Liars' (VIDEO)

A Vengeful Message on 'Pretty Little Liars'No good deed goes unpunished. Or, no bad deed goes unpunished. Either way, everything gets gossiped about on 'Pretty Little Liars' (Tue., 8PM ET on ABC Family).

[Spoiler alert.]

Emily (Shay Mitchell) has shared a slight kiss with neighborhood girl Maya (Bianca Lawson). Unfortunately, Emily has failed to consider the vengeful powers of the mysterious "A" -- the person who is the nemesis of all the girls on the show. And also, Emily made out with Maya in a photo booth, so evidence exists of of their so-called "scandalous" kiss. Naturally, this leads to trouble.

Now, "A" is sending out photos of the kiss via the Internet. It's all a very big deal -- if you're still in high school, as the characters on the show are. But we have to ask: is a girl making out with another girl really such a problem? We say no. Even though 'Pretty Little Liars' tries to present it as the most shocking thing ever.

Pretty Little Liars, ABC FamilyIf you have a tween girl in the house, you're probably aware of at least a few shows airing on ABC Family -- 'The Secret Life of the American Teenager,' 'Make It or Break It,' and '10 Things I Hate About You' spring to mind.
