Jaclyn Smith will host Shear Genius

by Brett Love, posted Jan 14th 2007 4:01PM
Jaclyn SmithMy second favorite angel has been named as the host of Bravo's upcoming reality show Shear Genius. Kevin mentioned the show in an earlier TCA post, but upon hearing the idea I wasn't that interested. I'm a guy that wears a Crimson Tide ballcap for about 18 hours a day, so hair, and the styling thereof, isn't really in my wheelhouse.

The addition of Jaclyn Smith as host though, that's enough to get me to tune in at least once and give the show a try. She'll be joined on the show by celebrity hairstylist Sally Hershberger as the head judge. According to NBC, the contestants will "go head-to-head in creative challenges that require more than just talent with a comb and scissors." If you have seen Top Chef or Project Runway, I think you have an idea about how this one is going to go. Although, it's one thing to watch Vincent make a model look ridiculous for 2 minutes in his "crap glued on poster board" getup, it is a whole other deal to watch someone get their head mutilated by a contestant's artistic vision. The potential for cringe inducing comedy is high.

Slew of old & new reality shows coming from Bravo - TCA Report

by Kevin Kelly, posted Jan 12th 2007 2:46PM
Bravo! For more reality ...Bravo announced a plateload of new shows and seasons coming down the pipeline this year. They include returning seasons of Top Chef, The Real Desperate Housewives, and the final season of Queer Eye. New show lineups include Shear Genius, a reality competition show involving hair-dos and hair-dont's, Tim Gunn's Guide to Style, which is all about makeovers and fashion, and a new show that will follow American Idol judge Paula Abdul around on a daily basis, showing us all what her life is like. Hopefully we'll find out what sort of wacky meds or liquid libations she has before each episode. Fingers crossed.
