'Homeland' Recap, Now With Brody-o-Meter! Episode 5, 'Blind Spot' (VIDEO)
by Michael Hogan, posted Oct 31st 2011 12:10AM
This was a family-oriented episode of Showtime's 'Homeland': We met Carrie's profanity-spewing Dad, Saul's long-suffering wife, and a terrorist who was willing to give up a key piece of intelligence in order to save eight family members, including his wife and kids. Yes, everybody is struggling to balance their family and professional obligations -- for Saul (Mandy Patinkin) and Carrie (Claire Danes), that means protecting the world from bad guys, but what does it mean for Sergeant Brody (Damian Lewis)? Is he really just struggling to adjust to life back at home after eight years in captivity, or is Carrie right that he's slowly and stealthily setting the stage for a follow-up to 9/11?Starting this week, AOL TV's Brody-o-Meter will gauge the rescued Marine sergeant's likelihood of being a sleeper agent for the Taliban on a 100 percent scale. Read on to find out this week's score!

With Her Surveillance Cut, Carrie Makes Contact With Brody on 'Homeland' (VIDEO)
by Jason Hughes, posted Oct 24th 2011 5:15AM
With her hands completely tied by bureaucracy and the law, Carrie had no choice but to remove her surveillance cameras from the Brody household on this week's 'Homeland' (Sun., 10PM ET on Showtime). In four weeks, she'd not come up with a shred of evidence linking him to the growing terrorist plot she's officially working on.But Carrie is certain, so rather than sit at home and stare where all her monitors used to be, she went to his house to stake him out the good old-fashioned way. When he left to go to a support group for veterans -- we admit to being a bit surprised that's where he actually went -- she followed him there and came up with a new plan.

by Jason Hughes, posted Oct 10th 2011 6:45AM
The plot thickens on 'Homeland' (Sun., 10PM ET on Showtime) when one of Carrie's assets in the field contacts her with a confirmed sighting of one of the biggest terrorist figures in the world, Abu Nazir. This is great news for Carrie, but terrifying for the asset, Lynn. She's been acting as a consort of sorts for a Middle Eastern prince, but now that she's seen the prince talking to Nazir, she's terrified for her life. But with Carrie's conviction that Brody is connected with Nazir, the timing of this is too important for her to let Lynn out.

After much anticipation, the star-studded 'Homeland' (Sun., 10PM ET on Showtime) finally premiered, and it delivered on every level. Claire Danes and Mandy Patinkin are a revelation together, with Danes absolutely smashing a very unpredictable and uncertain role.Carrie Mathison is already one of the most fascinating lead characters on television. We come out of this premiere with no real grasp on whether she's crazy and grasping at straws, or crazy but on to something really big. Yes, we're pretty sure, she's crazy, but it's the kind of crazy that draws you into her world.
'Dexter' Season 6 Premiere Recap: Creepy Religious Murders and a High School Reunion
by Alex Moaba, posted Oct 2nd 2011 10:35PM
Season 6 of 'Dexter' jumped forward a year, with Lumen out of the picture and America's favorite serial killer of serial killers back in the swing of things. By back in the swing of things, we mean of course, back to swinging his blade against Miami's murderers and criminals. In one of the opening scenes, Dexter traps two first responders who had been killing patients and shocks them to death, proving why TV doctors must always yell, "Clear!" before using a defibrillator. Later, at a high school reunion, he tracks a jock who killed his wife, and after some flag-football forensics, introduces him to his table, too.
The rest of the episode took us to Dexter's 20-year high school reunion and introduced a pair of creepy, religiously inspired serial killers. Read more about the premiere after the jump.
Cathy Falters at the Marathon Finish Line on 'The Big C' (VIDEO)
by Jason Hughes, posted Sep 27th 2011 6:45AM
In learning to let Lee go this season, Cathy has decided to live life to the fullest while she still has it on 'The Big C' (Mon., 10:30PM ET on Showtime). In this season finale, that meant picking up Lee's plans to run in the New Year's Eve marathon. She actually wound up picking it up quite literally, as she missed the deadline to enter, and took his number and ran it as him. But while Cathy was training for and running the marathon, she was missing some pretty serious stuff going down in the family, and this time it didn't involve Adam. In fact, Adam seems to be getting himself together.
Did the Botwins Reunite and Find Family Peace on 'Weeds' Finale? (VIDEO)
by Jason Hughes, posted Sep 27th 2011 3:15AM
It's been a crazy ride for the Botwin family, torn apart by greed and weakness throughout this season of 'Weeds' (Mon., 10PM ET on Showtime). But in last night's finale, Silas admitted his failings and apologized to Nancy.Nancy got herself out of trouble with Heylia, who told her Silas wasn't happy in the city. So Andy came up with a solution to solve this problem, as well as Nancy's custody battle with her sister over Stevie. That solution jumped us ahead four months to Connecticut.
There we find that the Botwins are living together in a type of compound, allowing them to be a family without having to be that close to one another. But there are still secrets, as Shane is now attending the police academy while telling the family he's going to college.
'House of Lies' Stars Don Cheadle & Kristen Bell Rock a New Promo
by Maggie Furlong, posted Sep 24th 2011 7:00PM
Critics haven't seen more than a quick clip or trailer for Showtime's new comedy 'House of Lies,' but I'm still excited and optimistic for what the show might be.See I love a lot of the network's so-called comedies, but this one -- starring Don Cheadle, Kristen Bell, Ben Schwartz, Josh Lawson and Dawn Oliveri -- has promise to actually be funny.
Proof: This bare-bones but totally adorable promo of the five management consultants letting loose a bit. Sure, the show's description calls them "cutthroat" and says they'll do just about anything for money, but that can be comical, too. And even without showing me a second of footage from the show, seeing Cheadle's silly side and, of course, Bell's usual adorableness has gotten me pumped to see more.
We'll have to wait until closer to the show's Jan. 8 premiere for actual screeners, but stay tuned. For now, just enjoy ...
Lee Tells Cathy He's Ready to Go, on 'The Big C' (VIDEO)
by Jason Hughes, posted Sep 20th 2011 6:15AM
When Lee called Cathy to be by his side on 'The Big C' (Mon., 10:30PM ET on Showtime), you could hear in his voice why he wanted her to come over. He knew it was his time, and no one wants to go alone. The bond that Lee and Cathy shared transcended the clinical trial and became something so much more powerful. Lee called Cathy his "soulmate," and perhaps it is that level of connection that allowed some of his energy and enthusiasm for adventure and excitement to make its way into Cathy's heart.
It was a beautifully written scene, with a truly harrowing performance by Hugh Dancy. Acting opposite Laura Linney, the pair made every beat of his last moments feel authentic and absolutely heartbreaking. Dancy doesn't do a lot of TV, but he's certainly welcome to come back any time.
Heylia and Dean are Robbed by a Couple of Sarah Palins on 'Weeds' (VIDEO)
by Jason Hughes, posted Sep 20th 2011 5:15AM
With next week's season finale looming on 'Weeds' (Mon., 10PM ET on Showtime), things got a little sticky this week between Silas and Nancy. Now partnered back up with Emma, Silas decides he needs to score some more of Heylia's sweet mary jane, which is really just an excuse to get her into New York and some more screen time.We don't mind, though, as long as she continues taking no crap from anyone. When she and Dean were held up at gunpoint for their carload of drugs, we were applauding when she refused to unlock her door, and shot her assailant right in his Sarah Palin mask.
