The last song on The O.C.
by Julia Ward, posted Feb 15th 2007 11:23AM
Which indie darling will be chosen to accompany the inevitable series finale montage of The O.C. on February 22nd? Stereogum knows. The show responsible for bringing Death Cab for Cutie into mainstream consciousness has dubbed neo-folkie Patrick Park the lucky recipient of this most coveted of pop culture moments. You can hear singer/songwriter Park's "Life is a Song" on MySpace. It will be available for purchase in July on Park's forthcoming album, and quite possibly on iTunes before that if The O.C. has anything to do with it. Apparently, the folks at The O.C. weighed Jeff Buckley's "Hallelujah" and Imogen Heap's "Hide and Seek" before going with the LA-based Park's ditty. It's good to see them spread the love to a lesser known commodity. Congratulations, Patrick. You're destined for graduation mix CDs everywhere. Personally, I can't wait. There's nothing better than a tear-jerking montage accompanied by a certifiable indie hit. I give you as evidence E.R.'s Green Day "Time of Your Life" montage. TV this sappy - it has to be good.
Bo Bice on American Idol tonight (wahoo!)
by Anna Johns, posted Mar 9th 2006 10:31AM
Finally. A reason to watch the American Idol results
show. Tonight, Bo Bice makes a special appearance on the show that made him famous last year. He'll perform his new
single, The Real Thing (no, it's not a Diet Coke ad). Bo's album of the same title is nearing platinum, with
550,000 copies sold. The video reached No. 1 this week on MTV's TRL. Will he wear shoes? Maybe. A shirt made by his
grandmother? Probably. Will he call someone "cat"? Certainly. After Bo's performance, four contestants will be booted off the show and we will finally have our Top 12 Finalists.
Nicole picks a Dandelion

"I thought he was a flower, but I found out he's a weed."
Damn girl, that's deep. Wait, no it isn't. That's a line from Nicole Richie's new single, "Dandelion" yet another attempt by someone who isn't famous for any reason to break into the music biz. Hell, Paris and K-Fed did it, so why shouldn't Nicole get her chance to sing through her nose to pre-recorded audio tracks? Actually, the production values on the song are pretty good, and like most pop songs there's enough filtering and vocal modulation to make it sound decent, or at the very least it blends nicely into the ignorable white noise that is mainstream pop music.
Warning: your ears may bleed

Poor Kevin Federline can't catch a break. His new rap single, PopoZao, is being trashed by music critics.
Entertainment Weekly said it was worse than expected and Billboard calls it "a monument to mediocrity." The
song has Brazilian stylings and, although it's three minutes long, K-Fed only raps for one minute, in which he explains
what 'PopoZao' means. He raps, "In Portuguese, it means bring your ass." Niiiice. The rest of the song is just
him whooping and grunting. You can see (and hear) K-Fed rockin' out to his new single here.Maybe all that bad karma that is catching up with K-Fed. You know... leaving your girlfriend when she's seven months pregnant with your second child, and mooching off your rich wife. His crap single could be payment for all that.
