NBC orders smaller serving of The Singles Table
by Anna Johns, posted Nov 6th 2006 8:03PM
It looks like NBC doesn't have much room for the mid-season comedy, The Singles Table. The network originally ordered 13 episodes of the show, but this week it cut that request down to only six episodes. The Singles Table is about a group of people who always end up at the 'singles table' together at their friends' weddings. John Cho (Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle) and Jarrad Paul (Monk) star in the series-- Alicia Silverstone was a late addition to the cast. Already, five episodes have been filmed. What does this say about The Singles Table? Eh. It pretty much says it's not the best show ever. We all know that NBC is trying to cut costs at every corner, so the network is likely waiting to see whether The Singles Table is a hit before committing to 13 episodes.
Alicia Silverstone signs on to another television series
by Anna Johns, posted Sep 15th 2006 9:33AM
After some rocky negotiations, Alicia Silverstone has agreed to play a role in a mid-season NBC comedy, The Singles Table. The series is about a group of people who bond when they keep getting put at wedding reception tables with each other because they're all dateless. Silverstone will play a doctor who realizes she has no social life. This is actually Silverstone's third attempt at series television. You may remember she starred in the short-lived NBC series Miss Match in 2003 and she didn't make it on to television earlier this year with a failed pilot for ABC called Pink Collar. This time, however, we can expect to see her on television as NBC has already committed to airing the comedy at mid-season.

NBC sneak peek: Tina Fey and Jeff Goldblum yes, Andy Richter no
by Bob Sassone, posted May 11th 2006 3:01PM
We'll have full coverage of all the network upfronts next week, but here's a little preview of the news we might hear.NBC has given the green light to Tina Fey's show about a late night variety show (a lot like Aaron Sorkin's Studio 60, which has also gotten the green light) and the dramas Friday Night Lights, Heroes, and Raines (with Jeff Goldblum), as well as the comedies Community Service, 20 Good Years, and The Singles Table.
The loser in all this? Andy Richter. His Andy Barker, P.I. (produced by Conan O'Brien) has been turned down by the network.
