With No Place to Go, the Browns Have a Week to Move, on 'Sister Wives' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted May 16th 2011 1:57AM
The Browns, 'Sister Wives'The clock is ticking on the Brown family in Utah. With Kody facing potential arrest at any moment, he and the 'Sister Wives' (Sun., 9PM ET on TLC) reluctantly decide to move to Las Vegas, Utah. And for the sake of the kids and their school schedules, they've got just more than a week to do it.

Things looked hopeful for a bit when they found four houses on the same street in a new development, but their offer was ultimately declined. So, as the episode wrapped, the Browns were facing this stiff deadline and were still determined to move, even if they have nowhere to go.

With two episodes left, where will they land? How will the "small ones" take the news, now that Kody and the wives have decided it's time to tell them? It's a tense and frightening time, and even Kody broke down in tears thinking about the family potentially getting split up.

The Browns Discuss Leaving Utah to Avoid Polygamy Charges on 'Sister Wives' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted May 9th 2011 2:06AM
'Sister Wives'The Brown family took a huge risk legally when they agreed to put their lives on television. The premiere of 'Sister Wives' (Sun., 9PM ET on TLC) brought in solid ratings, which would seem to be accomplishing the Browns' intentions of making more people aware of the polygamist lifestyle.

Unfortunately, it also made the Utah authorities aware of the Browns, and they immediately began putting together a felony case to prosecute Kody for polygamy. As such, the family reached a critical decision just before Christmas 2010.

"Historically, when a family's investigated or prosecuted for polygamy, they break up the family," Kody said. "And so we have decided that we're going to move out of the state."

Kody has also changed through the relationship: He actually admits to being wrong!? On the camping trip, Janelle vetoed buying sleeping bags in favor of using a quilt.

A 'Sister Wives' Daughter Is Badly Injured While Horseback Riding (VIDEO)

by Aimee Deeken, posted Mar 21st 2011 5:50AM
An Injury on 'Sister Wives'On 'Sister Wives' (Sun., 9PM ET on TLC), Kody Brown took his four wives and several of his 16 children horseback riding. "One of the horses was acting up, and we told the kids not to ride it," recalled Kody's first wife Meri.

But teens will be teens. Mykelti, his second child with third wife Christine, didn't heed the warning. "A few minutes later, we see Mykelti's horse come running back -- and not Mykelti."

Kody saw the 13-year-old fly off the animal and come down on her hip. "Hell, you don't know if somethin's broken," he said.

Kody ran to her and helped her stand up, as she cried from the pain. Nothing appeared broken, but she was left with a raw, red bruise down the side of her torso.

The Polygamy Game: TLC's 'Sister Wives' Take Our Marital Trivia Challenge (VIDEO)

by Maggie Furlong, posted Mar 14th 2011 9:00AM
The Brown family of TLC's 'Sister Wives'Most men have a hard enough time remembering special dates like anniversaries ... but imagine if you had four different anniversaries to remember.

That's the dilemma for Kody Brown, the polygamist patriarch of TLC's hit show 'Sister Wives' (Sundays, 9PM ET).

We decided to put Kody's memory to the test, over and over again, asking each of his four wives -- Meri, Janelle, Christine and Robyn -- some basic marital questions. Everything from their song to who's the better driver to their biggest hubby pet peeves, Kody then had to try to guess the correct answers.

Watch our fun 'Newlywed Game'-inspired video and see how well they did. You might just get a whole new perspective on polygamy from the family that's opened their multiple lives to a reality TV camera crew.

Facing Investigation for Bigamy, the 'Sister Wives' Say They'd Do It All Again (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Mar 14th 2011 3:01AM
'Sister Wives'The Browns knew they were taking a risk when they agreed to have their lives filmed and aired on national television. But they told themselves at the time that it was worth the risk to their families and lifestyle to raise awareness of, and possibly tolerance to, their polygamist lifestyle as 'Sister Wives' (Sun., 9PM ET on TLC).

After a successful first season in 2010, what they feared the most is on the brink of occurring. Local police have launched an investigation into their polygamist family and is seeking charges of bigamy. It's up to the prosecuting attorney's office now whether the case will move forward.

"It scares me to death the possibility of being taken away from my family," Meri Brown said. "Or to have Kody taken away from us, you know and the kids needing to be split up." Husband Kody could face up to 20 years in prison, with each wife facing up to five years.

'Sister Wives' Season 2 Preview: Will Kody Take On Another Wife?

by Maggie Furlong, posted Mar 11th 2011 6:45PM
TLC's most talked-about reality series premiered last fall with a swirl of legal scandal surrounding it. Just as we were getting to know Kody Brown and his family, our new TV obsession became slightly tarnished by an investigation of felony bigamy.

Oh yeah, in case you don't watch TV or read the news, Kody Brown's family includes four wives -- Meri, Janelle, Christine and Robyn -- and their combined 16 children. Their show 'Sister Wives' is a real life 'Big Love' story, but exposing their lifestyle to the public was more drama than any scripted TV show could conjure up.

Now they're back, coping with their newfound infamy, their public polygamy and the ongoing investigation, but their show is even more endearing this season (premieres Sun., March 13, 9PM ET on TLC) as fourth wife Robyn is truly part of the family.

I caught up with Kody and the wives to hear about their new season, and then they answered the one question on most people's minds: are they open to welcoming more wives into their lives? Keep reading to find out ...

Kathy Griffin Spoofs 'Sister Wives' on 'Lopez Tonight''Sister Wives' -- the reality show that followed a polygamist and his three wives as they prepared to welcome a fourth -- got everyone thinking: What if the tables were turned?

Kathy Griffin attempted to answer that question on 'Lopez Tonight' (weeknights, 11PM ET on TBS) with a sneak-peak at her new "show." In "Brother Husbands," Griffin (in flannel nightgown, surrounded by three husbands silently shucking corn) discusses their "normal" lives.

Then she admits, "It's really difficult. It sounded like a good idea, but now it just means that I gotta bang like three or four guys a week." Meanwhile, her husbands are sulking because she's bringing in a fourth guy. "I want a little flava," Griffin explains. And in walks George Lopez. Griffin has a specific task for him.

The actual ceremony didn't make it to the small screen, but the reception did. "Sisters" Meri, Janelle and Christine pooled their resources (and husband Kody's, presumably) to buy Robyn a Claddagh ring similar to what they all wear. "It was kind of like I got into the sorority," said Robyn.

Kody said of the event, "Weddings are complicated. You'd think I'd be good at it by now, right?" No comment.
