Here's why we're REALLY doing the TV Squad Live! Sketch Project
by Joel Keller, posted Feb 17th 2006 10:47AM
Earlier this week, we introduced our
comedy sketch project to you, giving you a very measured and careful explanation for why we're doing this: we love
our readers, we think they're very funny, we want to utilize new wiki technology, etc., etc., etc.All of this is true. But the real reason we decided to start this project is much simpler than that:
We think Saturday Night Live stinks.
Introducing TV Squad Live! The TVS Comedy Sketch Project
by Joel Keller, posted Feb 14th 2006 11:12AM
One of things we love about doing a TV blog is that we can utilize technology to do some
interesting projects, like our chats and podcasts. We also happen to think that we have some of the funniest readers
out there. So what we've decided to do is put both to the test. We'd like to see what happens if our witty and wonderful readers help us collaborate on an SNL-style comedy sketch. Our plan is to utilize the wiki technology at The TV IV (www.tviv.org) to allow everybody to write and refine the sketch, while giving us some control over the content.
But first we need some ideas. The TVS staff has been batting around some ideas in private, but we're curious as to what you can come up with as well. Please leave your sketch ideas in the comments; the ideas should be no more than a couple of sentences, and you really don't have to go into details about characters, settings, etc. Just the concept is fine, thanks. No topic is off-limits, but try to keep the concept within the limits of network late-night broadcast standards, please.
We'll be discussing the ideas we gather in about a week or so and narrowing them down. If we choose your idea, we will notify you by e-mail and give you a writing credit.
Keep in mind that the script will be placed under a Creative Commons license, with TV Squad and The TV IV being the licensees. We don't intend on selling the script or the idea, and placing these items under this license will help us protect that right. More information about a CC license is here.
Ok, it's time channel your inner comedian and send us your best. Good Luck!
(NOTE: Sorry for the repost -- we meant for this post to run this morning, not last night)
