Talking TV Podcast Takes On 'Sons of Anarchy,' 'Happy Endings,' 'Alphas' and 'Awkward.'
by Maureen Ryan, posted Sep 1st 2011 2:30PM
Things are ramping up on the podcast front as the fall season approaches. But before we're deluged with the comedies and dramas that premiere later in September, Ryan McGee and I thought we'd take another look at three shows that premiered earlier in the year, and one veteran that's returning for its fourth season. We discussed 'Alphas,' the Syfy drama I recently re-reviewed here, in the first quarter of the podcast. Then we talked about 'Happy Endings' and 'Awkward,' both which I recently wrote about as well (and there's a bit of 'Wilfred' chat at the end of the comedy portion of the podcast). Finally, we moved on to a 20-minute (non-spoilery) discussion of the fourth season of 'Sons of Anarchy.'
The running times for the podcast are below.
'Sons of Anarchy' Season 4 Trailer: New Tensions and a Town Transformed (VIDEO)
by Maureen Ryan, posted Aug 30th 2011 1:35PM
The Sept. 6 season premiere of FX's 'Sons of Anarchy' is an exercise in intriguing contradictions. As the members of the biker club emerge from 14 months in prison, there are lots of changes in the club's home town of Charming, but fans who watch the 90-minute episode will see a lot of familiar elements on display as well.
There's a new sheriff in town (Rockmond Dunbar), a man who would be quite happy to put the club behind bars again, and, as you can see in the clip below, there's also a new alliance with Danny Trejo's character, a representative for a Mexican cartel.
I'll post a full review of the first three episodes of the new season early next week, but I can say that after season 3's ups and downs, which included the Sons' trip to Belfast, things definitely appear to be centered on the 'SOA' clubhouse in Charming again. The solid season opener has made me very intrigued to see where things go next for Jax (Charlie Hunnam), Tara (Maggie Siff), Clay (Ron Perlman), Gemma (Katey Sagal) and the rest of the Reaper Crew -- all of whom may well have differing agendas as the season plays out.
'Sons of Anarchy' Season 4 Promo: There's a New Sheriff in Town (VIDEO)
by Alex Moaba, posted Aug 10th 2011 1:35PM
We already heard from Comic-Con reports that Season 4 of the critically-acclaimed biker drama 'Sons of Anarchy' starts with the gang riding out of prison after 14 months behind bars, flipping off the place after their release. But now we're getting more of a look at what's in store for the SAMCRO this season. One big obstacle stands in the way of the Sons getting back to business as usual in California after their working vacation to Belfast. There's a new sheriff in town named Eli Roosevelt, played by Rockmond Dunbar, and he doesn't seem intent on letting the Sons run roughshod over his authority. In the promo, he welcomes the gang back to town with a police cars vs. motorcycles high-speed chase.
Not pictured in the promo is Danny Trejo, who plays the head of a Mexican drug cartel that we've heard the Sons will start to do business with this season.
Check out the trailer after the jump.
Comic-Con 2011: 'Sons of Anarchy' Rides Into Hall H
by Maureen Ryan, posted Jul 25th 2011 2:15PM
'Sons of Anarchy' rolled into Comic-Con Sunday, and the thousands of cheering fans in Hall H seemed to like what they heard about the new season of the FX show, which returns with a 90-minute episode Sept. 6.The first few minutes of season 4 were shown before the panel (by the way, spoilers ahoy). Would it surprise you to learn that the clip ends with club members on their motorcycles, flipping off the prison that they just left after 14 months of incarceration? No, I do not think it would.

by Catherine Lawson, posted Jul 6th 2011 7:15AM
In his glory days, David Hasselhoff was an international sex symbol. Whether strutting his stuff in jeans on 'Knight Rider,' wearing the tightest leather pants on German singing shows, or rocking the red swim trunks on the beach in 'Baywatch,' boatloads of fans swooned at the sight of his manly assets. Now comes news that The Hoff is capitalizing on his well-endowed reputation by taking on a "meaty role" in an episode of the upcoming 'Sons of Anarchy' Season 4.
According to TVGuide.com he will play the part of Dondo, a well-endowed former porn star who is now making major coin by producing sleazy girl-on-girl adult films.
