Stargate SG-1: The Road Not Taken

(S10E13) When I read the description of this one, I couldn't help but think of the alternate universe Star Trek episodes. I was a bit worried that it would be an episode of unethical commandos. Thank god, none of the main characters was sporting a goatee. (I'm not counting our bumbling scientist) Instead, I was treated to a rather interesting exploration of a very plausible alternate (but stargatified) Earth.
Stargate SG-1: Line in the Sand

(S10E12) When I first saw this episode of SG-1, it was a review copy. Usually these are pretty rough. They lack special effects, final editing isn't quite done, and there's usually the random bad voice over. Since Sci-Fi has had so much time to get these ready for showing (not to mention the fact that the show was already on in the UK) things were a bit different. I found myself reaching for the fast forward button a few times, but things turned out pretty decent in the end.
Stargate SG-1: The Quest (part 2)

(S10E11) Stargate SG-1 came back with a freakin' good episode. Before the credits roll we're treated to a nice review of the past and the team is back to being chased down by a rather grumpy dragon. It's an intense start, and the rest of the show delivers on the promise of a great final run for the series.
The new Stargate series now has a name
More news is coming out about the third Stargate series that is currently under development. According to our friends at Gateworld (we're just saying they're our friends -- they may despise us) the show now has a working title. The name is . . . drum roll, please . . . Stargate Universe.
That's actually just the working title, according to executive producer Robert C. Cooper. It sounds like a decent title anyway, and they aren't making the mistake like Paramount did when they named the last Star Trek series just Enterprise. Editorial over, back to the story. Cooper says that the new program was originally conceived as a stand-alone movie, something that would fit into the scope of the Stargate universe. However,Cooper and producer Brad Wright were able to tweak the idea enough to turn the concept into a weekly series to the glee of the studios.
Universe will be set in the current Stargate continuity but, according to Robert, it will not relate to anything that has been in any previous series. In other words, there's probably a slim chance that you'll see any crossover from older sibling Stargate Atlantis. As to when the show will air, Cooper says he and Wright will concentrate on the Universe pilot after wrapping principal photography on the two new SG-1 movies in June.
Stargate SG-1: Counter Strike

(S10E06) SG-1 is back from it's plot hiatus for 200. Morena finally makes her appearance in the show as Vala's huggable but evil genetically altered daughter. I was happy to see the editors put together a more meaningful 'previously on Stargate' showing.
Stargate SG-1: Insiders

(S10E04) The opening Stargate scenes caught my attention. O'Neill getting mind smooched with the repository of Ancient knowledge happened a loooong time ago.(Like back in season seven) Quite a bit of time was spent explaining that Baal was stealing Stargates.
I've got to give Baal some credit. He does know how to make an entrance. He makes his way to Stargate Command by flying a small ship straight at it. He's like an evil alien Count of Monte Cristo.
Stargate SG-1: The Pegasus Project

(S10E03)If you were getting tired of SG-1 getting pushed around by the Ori in the last couple of episodes, this one helps make up for it all. The team is finally doing some proactive stuff right from the beginning.
Oh, and Daniel finally gets to Atlantis.
He keeps Vala on a pretty tight leash, but they still have some fun. Meanwhile, Carter and Mitchell have made off with McKay and a load of citrus fruit. Ok, not really, but the lemon comes in handy.
Sci-Fi Channel wants you to watch your favorite shows live
No, Sci-Fi Channel isn't talking about a live broadcast of Stargate SG-1 or Battlestar Galactica (although it would be interesting). What it really wants you to do is watch SG-1 and its companion Stargate Atlantis when they actually air, rather than recording them on your Tivo or DVR.
Stargate SG-1: Morpheus

(S10E02) We started our episode with a nice recap. Vala gives birth to the new leader of the Ori invasion fleet, and we re-visit the search for Merlin's weapon (A.K.A. the Sangrail). Because the first scene was of Vala's baby, it's was pretty easy to just ignore the recap and miss the Merlin thing.
The rest of the episode follows two story lines. SG-1 searching a planet and Vala trying to... well, get a job with Stargate Command. Meanwhile, SG-1 is off to search a planet for Merlin's weapon. Since everyone on the planet is dead, Vala's efforts help keep the ep from getting too dark.
Stargate SG-1: Flesh and Blood (season premiere)

(S10E01) This season's premier of SG-1 felt like the first half of a two hour episode. My Tivo's description has it dead on. "The team struggles to reunite after an Ori defeat." That's pretty much the entire episode. I'll get some grief because I'm going to be complaining about some details on this one. If you're a fan of the show, you'll still enjoyed watching it.

Stargate SG-1: The Fourth Horseman, Part 2
The
second-half of the season premiere of SG-1 aired last night, and I, for one, am dissatisfied with both this episode and
the Stargate Atlantis episode that I will comment on in a post following this one. The Stargate
series, to me, has always been a good episodic Sci-Fi series, in that they had a consistent big bad guy and each
episode is a nicely contained unit that I can watch at any given point in syndication and not feel left out if I hadn't
seen the previous or later episodes. Now, what bothers me about this season, is that they've eliminated all their
previous big bads in one fell swoop before this season began, so that we are left with a brand new big bad in the form
of the Ori, the evil twin siblings of the Ancients.TV Squad Hot Topics
