(S06E18) Watching this episode, I got the nagging feeling that the writers made a grave mistake three years ago when they had Jim leave the Scranton branch for Stamford, then come back. When the branches merged, Jim became the branch's number two under Michael, and he actually had a scintilla of authority over Dwight.

Sure, he pulled pranks on Dwight over the ensuing years, and Dwight tried to end Jim on any number of occasions. But there was always an implication that the two weren't work equals. Jim becoming co-manager made things worse.

But now they're equals again. And seeing Dwight's MegaDesk, followed by Jim creating the incorrectly-named QuadDesk, made me realize why the early episodes of 'The Office' work so well. Jim and Dwight getting under each other's skin was a reminder of every irritating cubicle neighbor I've ever had, and that dynamic was missing. It was good to see it back tonight, but it got me annoyed that it really hasn't been around since season two.

Michael Scott is such an idiot! He never fails to impress us with his utter stupidity, as he did by insinuating that Darryl's race had something to do with his new office on 'The Office' (Thu., 9PM ET on NBC).

"How do I put this delicately? Does her family owe your family something in terms of a past injustice?" SUCH an idiot.

(S06E16 / S06E17) Remember how the one hour Pam/Jim wedding episode was considered by many -- including me -- to be 'The Office's' best episode of the season? Well, the one-hour Pam/Jim baby episode definitely isn't in that category.

Why? Because, through a lot of the episode, Pam and Jim displayed none of the charm that made us fall in sitcom love with them in the first place. To compound the situation, they're being written into situations that would make fans of 'Yes, Dear' cringe. But we'll get to that later.

As usual with most one-hour 'Office' episodes, the first half was better than the second. But even the first half of this one had some problems.

In what was probably the toughest pilot season casting decision yet, the choice of actor to play Jim Rockford has gone to... Dermot Mulroney. Yes, that's right. Dermot Mulroney will star in the remake of 'The Rockford Files.' And, no, Alex O'Loughlin was not the first choice. Kidding! Just kidding!

Mulroney did a brief turn on 'Friends' in 2003, but his most famous role was the object of Julia Roberts' obsession -- and Cameron Diaz's fiance -- in 'My Best Friend's Wedding.' 'The Rockford Files' is his first major shot at TV.

Just in time for the release of her new movie 'Date Night,' watch for Emmy-winner and '30 Rock' star Tina Fey to return to 'Saturday Night Live' to reprise her Sarah Palin impersonation. Tina told the AP that she expects to be back on 'Saturday Night Live,' but hedged her betchas about doing former Governor Sarah Palin again, saying, "It's inevitable that we'll try it, at least. We'll see if it makes it to air."

Actually, this is the perfect time to bring out the Palin material again, only now Sarah has given Tina Fey and the writers a lot more with which to work. Since the last time Fey did Palin on 'SNL,' Sarah resigned from her elected office as Alaska's governor (for the good of the people since she felt she was a lame duck), prompting a lot of speculation about her future in politics.

(S06E16) Ahhhhhh.... order has finally been restored to the universe.

Can you feel it? The air is cleaner, food tastes better, and the two feet of snow outside my window is a fluffy dream instead of an icy mess.

It seems like the producers of 'The Office' realized things weren't right in their world and they decided to rectify things. And in the process they made one of the more satisfying episodes of the season.

(S01E15) Why has this season of 'The Office' been so off-kilter? There have been promising episodes but very few that hit the mark. In fact, the only episode that can hold its own with classic 'Office' episodes is the Pam-Jim wedding, and I'm starting to fear that the show really is trying to figure out where to go from that high point.

And Jam may be the big problem here. They're not interesting anymore. But I'll get to them later.

So Dunder Mifflin is now owned by a company called Sabre. We don't quite know what they're all about except that they sell printers and they have a feisty CEO played by Kathy Bates. And in exchange for saving the branch's ass, they've asked for a few very reasonable changes. You'd think that even Michael Scott would embrace those changes. You'd be wrong.

Conan O'Brien couldn't leave 'The Tonight Show' without a nice send-off from a few of his friends.

To that end, Steve Carell conducted an exit interview, and Will Ferrell and friends sang a rousing rendition of 'Freebird.' Conan took the opportunity to jump in and do a few guitar riffs himself.

(S06E14) A clip show? Really?

After being gone for six weeks, and teased by the no good louts at the NBC publicity department that we were getting a "new Office," we get handed a clip show. Not cool.

And... and... when was the last time you saw a sitcom do a clip show, anyway? Friends, maybe? I thought in this new era of "creativity" in the sitcom world clip shows were more mocked than embraced.

Ok, ok. Enough bitching on my part. I guess this will be the shortest Office review ever, because there wasn't all that much new material to talk about.

While promoting his new, self-titled animated HBO show based on his podcasts, Ricky Gervais hinted that his boss character of David Brent may make an appearance on the American version of The Office. Gervais and his writing partner and co-creator Stephen Merchant have already been associated with the show, having written two episodes, including the pilot.

Can you imagine the sort of repartee between Michael Scott and David Brent? Would they be friends? Would they be enemies? Does anybody remember the bit from the Emmy Awards in 2008 when Gervais demanded he be given Carell's Emmy? I'm not even watching it right now and that bit still has me laughing hysterically.

Sure, NBC doesn't need the promotion right now what with the late night controversies going on, but soon Conan will be gone and Jay will take back The Tonight Show. They'll need a new event to get people excited about something on their network and this could be it (well, I don't know about everyone else but at least I'd be excited).

NBC just can't seem to get its peacocks in a row lately.

After announcing the controversial (but unsurprising) decision to pull Jay Leno from its primetime line-up at the TCAs this weekend, the network will look to scripted dramas to fill at least some of the void.

According to Variety, NBC has already greenlit half-a-dozen drama pilots in hopes of quickly filling the 10 PM slot.

But will it be enough to save the network in the ratings race? Business Week reports that NBC has seen a 4.6 percent drop in primetime viewers since Leno began airing at 10, causing a domino effect that resulted in a dip in audience numbers for NBC's affiliate news stations and late night programming.

It was a low-key night for the 2010 People's Choice Awards, the 36th annual gala celebrating fan favorites in movies, TV and music. Nothing particularly amazing or outlandish happened, and most of the stars donned conventional gowns, including host Queen Latifah, who looks fabulous these days. She started the show off with a musical medley, including Susan Boyle's hit 'I Dreamed a Dream,' then launched into the presentations.

We didn't see all of the awards being presented, including Favorite Talk Show Host, won by Ellen DeGeneres. But, of course, she had a few words to say about it. "Oprah, I love you, and I'm sorry your show got canceled." Then she added something about winning eleven times, "one for each of Sandra Bullock's toes." Maybe that was a private joke between the two?

If you want to be a great comedic actor, you can never let on that you know you're being funny. Your character never knows what the joke is. That's why Rodney Dangerfield was a great, legendary stand-up comedian, and a fairly poor comic actor.

Everyone on this list excels at the comedic poker face. Steve Carell and Ricky Gervais, in their Office boss characters, don't know that most of the rest of the office is laughing at them. Or at least they don't understand why. Stephen Colbert, despite all of the attention The Colbert Report have received, may be the most underrated comic actor, because the character is so seamless, sometimes it's hard to tell it's a character. Shatner is a legend for playing campy with a poker face. And Neil Patrick Harris as a cad? A straight cad? Perfect.

Here are a few of our favorite comedic actors from the past decade, and may their characters never realize the joke's on them.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas over on Moviefone's Inside Movies.

That's because the busy elves over there have re-imagined classic Hollywood movie posters as inappropriate holiday movies. Hey, you looking at the Christmas-themed movie poster for 'Taxi Driver'? Then we have Christmas classics re-imagined as action flicks. Take a gander at Rambo as Scrooge.

Also on Inside Movies, Ivan Reitman confirms that there will be a Ghostbusters 3 and that Bill Murray and Sigourney Weaver are on board -- but not in a way you'd might expect.

(S06E13) After the cringeworthiness of "Scott's Tots," seeing an episode where Michael merely acts like a petulant child is almost refreshing.

But Michael's petulance had a purpose. Dunder Mifflin is in trouble. Office morale is at an all-time low. So, while Michael was still acting like a baby, he was doing it because he wanted to be the one to lift everyone's spirits. Still, it's funny to watch childish Michael, especially when we can see big ol' Kevin act indecisive while crushing Michael's lap.

I loved seeing Phyllis as Santa. She's right; she has the temperament, the figure, and she's got bad-ass Bob Vance to back her up in case anyone objects. And to think, at one time Phyllis Smith was a cheerleader for the NFL's St. Louis Cardinals.
