'Survivor' Exit Interview: Risky Business Doesn't Pay
by Audrey Fine, posted Apr 23rd 2010 4:00PM
Bold moves. This 20th all-star season of 'Survivor' has been chock full of them and last night's episode of 'Heroes vs. Villains' was no exception. Fans witnessed one of the gutsiest plays of all time.
Last week, humble Hero John "J.T." Thomas handed off of his immunity idol to consummate Villain Russell Hantz, and the move backfired. Big time. And it led to the 'Survivor: Tocantins' winner being sent to join Courtney Yates and Benjamin "Coach" Wade on the jury.

'Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains' (8PM, CBS) season 20 premiereThey've already done the all-star season, and they've already been in Samoa, but CBS' venerable reality competition calls re-do on both with this season, which pits 'Survivor' "good guys" (and girls!) against the "bad guys" (and girls!) and sends them off to Samoa to see who can get the best of who and, of course, who can emerge as the million dollar winner. Among the players for season 20, where the "Outwit, Outplay, Outlast" slogan has been replaced with "Return, Revenge, Redemption": Rupert Boneham, Colby Donaldson and Candice Woodcock for the Heroes team, and Russell Hantz, "Boston Rob" Mariano and Jerri Manthey for the Villains. Of course, there's no guarantee that the contenders will remain heroes or villains as they duke it out in what is sure to be a particularly tough season ...
'Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains': Who Will Be Cast?

During last night's telecast of the 'Survivor: Samoa' reunion (full recap here), CBS premiered a teaser for the upcoming 20th cycle of the show, confirming that it would be a second "All-Star" edition after all. Officially titled 'Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains,' the clip showcased virtually every prominent player who's ever been on the show -- certainly more than could fit within the 20 contestant limit.Fans of the show have been working for months, tracking contestants' Twitter and MySpace accounts, interviewing crew members and possibly even digging through the trash to find out who will actually be cast for next season. In the process, some have wondered whether 'Samoa' runner-up Russell Hantz would be able to appear, the same way Rupert Boneham went straight from 'Pearl Islands' to 'All-Stars.'
Survivor 20 could be All Stars: Heroes vs. Villains

Apparently first season winner Richard Hatch, who's serving the last three months of his tax evasion incarceration under house arrest, petitioned the court to try and get out early so he could participate in the forthcoming ten-year anniversary cycle of Survivor. While CBS and Richard Hatch attempted to keep their efforts to get Hatch on the show private, apparently the U.S. Attorney's office wasn't so careful as Providence's NBC affiliate got their hands on the request and went public with it.
