Rescue Me returns June 12

by Anna Johns, posted May 5th 2007 4:09PM
rescue meYou know what the "regular" television season is missing? Messed up characters like Tommy Gavin. Ain't no one as screwed up as Tommy. Not even Tony Soprano, in my opinion. Luckily, FX has scheduled the return of Rescue Me for one week after The Shield wraps up.

This will be the fourth season of Rescue Me (already?!?) and we'll see some familiar faces such as Susan Sarandon, and newbies such as Jennifer Esposito, Larenz Tate, and Jerry Adler, who plays the firehouse's new chief. The season finale last year left our anti-hero, Tommy, passed-out drunk in a burning building with Sheila.

Rescue Me returns Tuesday, June 12th at 10 p.m. It'll have a 13-episode run that will last to mid-September.

The Simpsons: Homer vs. Patty and Selma

by Adam Finley, posted Aug 18th 2006 9:05AM

(S06E17)

Lisa: Hey, dad, whatcha doin'?

Homer: Daddy has very important work to do. He's looking through the want ads to find a part-time job.

Lisa: Dad, that's a gag paper we we got at the carnival.

Homer: Oh. No wonder I didn't hear about Bart being elected 'World's Greatest Sex Machine.'"

This episode begins in Moe's bar with Homer passing out cigars to his friends. It seems he's found the path to financial success by investing in pumpkins. They've been "going up the whole month of October" after all. Naturally, Homer's plan to sell come January fails and he winds up broke. He comes home to find Patty and Selma celebrating their promotion at the DMV, and eventually Homer is pushed to the edge and throws them out. Marge tries to explain to her sisters that Homer is complicated, and Homer pops his head out the window, smashes a plate on his head and yells, "wrong!"

My own episode of Rescue Me

by Jonathan Toomey, posted Jul 21st 2006 12:07PM

Rescue MeI miss watching television. I miss electricity and I'm sick of taking cold showers. Most of you may have noticed by now that I never got around to posting a review for this week's episode of Rescue Me, "Satisfaction." Well I have a good reason. I left work this past Tuesday at around 6:30. It was just like any other night... until my subway train stalled and I was stuck on it for two hours. After two empty trains finally pulled up behind us, my fellow passengers and myself used the empty cars and trekked through them back to the previous station we had passed. I was then forced to find another station, in a neighborhood I was unfamiliar with. I took a train that I never take and it was only able to get me to within 12 blocks of my apartment. So I walked... and finally I made it home. Success!

Rescue Me: Torture

by Jonathan Toomey, posted Jun 14th 2006 10:33AM

Denis Leary; Paige Turco; Rescue Me(S03E03) This is shaping up to be a pretty dark season. Not to say that the first two were all sunshine and lollipops but we're on course for some pretty big confrontations. The one that has me most interested is Mike. His "probie" status is coming to an end and we know he's been tossing around the idea of transferring to another house. As many had correctly speculated, we found out at the end of the episode that Mike is indeed gay. At least it seems that way. He has some sort of a boyfriend and the two of them like to drink beers and cuddle at the end of the day... so, I'm not sure how else to interpret it.

It would seem then, that his decision to file for a transfer has more to do with his fear of everyone finding out his secret. And they will. We know that this isn't the most tolerant group of guys, but I'm thinking that when they find out, they might cut Mike some slack. He really respects these guys and I think it's killing him that he might lose that respect. Here's to hoping that Tommy and the rest of the crew don't let Mike down.

Rescue Me: Discovery

by Jonathan Toomey, posted Jun 7th 2006 1:26AM

Rescue Me; Discovery; Daniel Sunjata; Susan Sarandon(S03E02) This show does not screw around. Everyone, as of right now, needs to get in the habit of recommending Rescue Me the next time they hear someone complain that there's nothing on TV during the summer months. Besides, you can't deny that a show has made it when you have someone like Susan Sarandon making a guest appearance.

All that being said, I think we're seeing a shift in the stories being told. This was the first episode that I can recall that wasn't heavy into the firehouse storylines. Did they even have a fire in this episode? If anything, I think it symbolizes that everyone is moving on and Franco is the prime example after Tommy discovers that he's studying for the Lieutenant's Exam. "Choices" seems to be a prevailing theme right now. But on this show, no one ever makes the right ones.

Review: Rescue Me comedy short

Anna wrote about this a few weeks ago, and for whatever reason, I only got around to watching it this morning. I guess I didn't realize that it was a fifteen minute mini episode. I just thought it was one of those cheesy three minute trailers that are rarely worth watching. Well this was certainly worth checking out because not only is it laugh out loud funny, but it also highlights the great ensemble cast Rescue Me has. These guys mesh well together.

Um...Rescue Me returns in May?

by Bob Sassone, posted Apr 6th 2006 5:27PM
Denis LearyYou know, I thought this show had been either canceled months ago or had just been forgotten about, but it's good news to hear that the Denis Leary show will return to FX on May 30. Thief, the Andre Braugher drama, will end its run on May 2, and the network will run movies and specials til Rescue Me returns.

Lots of heavy stuff coming this season, as well as a multi-episode guest appearance by Susan Sarandon.
