Suze Orman Does the Suze Smackdown on 'Wendy Williams' (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted May 20th 2011 4:45PM
Suze Orman does the Suze Smackdown on 'Wendy Williams'Suze Orman did her part to fight debt today on 'The Wendy Williams Show' (weekdays, syndicated) with her "Suze Smackdown." The idea is basically that a bunch of people stand up and talk about something they'd like to buy and how much debt they have, and then Orman tells them no, complete with a graphic and sound effect that says "Denied."

Orman "denied" a woman with just $700 in debt who wanted to buy a Lexus SUV, and several other audience members. One who was unemployed even seemed a bit surprised by Orman's verdict. Williams said she shouldn't have been. "You knew the answer before you stood up," said Williams. "You are denied."

One woman who wanted to start a business, had no debts, and got a loan from her parents she did not have to pay back, did manage to get through. Orman noted it was a first, but she was approved.

Journal of a Couch Potato: A Day with the Oprah Winfrey Network

by Bob Sassone, posted Jan 3rd 2011 7:00PM
OWNLike most men, I have a love/hate relationship with Oprah. Nothing against her, it's just that when I watch her show, I have the feeling that I shouldn't be. I don't have addictions, I don't fawn over celebrities; the only secret I keep is that I sometimes watch 'Oprah.'

On New Year's Day, while other men were watching football games or nursing their hangovers, I watched The Oprah Winfrey Network. And I kept a diary of what I saw. No, a journal. Journal sounds more manly.

by Chris Harnick, posted Oct 7th 2010 2:00PM
Suze OrmanDebt. Bankruptcy. Back taxes. Celebrities with financial woes need a hero. They need somebody to swoop in and rescue them, somebody to spout sassy sayings and turn their financial lives around. That hero? None other than Suze Orman.

Why hasn't this happened already? Where's VH1, Bravo or CNBC with this show, 'Suze Orman's Celebrity Financial Boot Camp'?

Ms. Suze could whip even the sloppiest of Joes into shape, it's time to unleash her on the entertainment world. Toni Braxton, watch out.

Suze Orman, Dr. Oz and Dr. Phil Get Together for the Launch of Oprah's OWN Network

by Chris Harnick, posted Sep 14th 2010 11:30AM
Suze OrmanOprah Winfrey is assembling a venerable who's who of self-help gurus to come together for specials on her new network, OWN.

Dr. Phil McGraw, Dr. Mehmet Oz and Suze Orman will film four different two-hour specials with studio audiences in Los Angeles and New York. According to Entertainment Weekly, the specials will air on four consecutive Sundays to coincide with OWN's launch on Jan. 1.

So, who decided to bring these gurus together? Orman and Lisa Erspamer, chief creative officer at OWN.

"It's the dream scenario," Erspamer told EW. "They've never done anything like this together, so God only knows what will happen. They're like rock stars. We feel like it's a great way to kick off the new year and the new network."

'The Biggest Loser' - 'Week Thirteen' Recap

by Jason Hughes, posted Apr 14th 2010 3:03AM
Danny Cahill, 'The Biggest Loser 8'(S09E13) Danny Cahill, who won last season of 'The Biggest Loser,' was so much fun to watch on his journey to success. Who better to come and inspire the current batch of contestants? He was joined by CNBC's Suze Orman, who came back to offer financial advice to the contestants, or at least that's what we were led to believe.

In truth, she did little more than ask a couple of them how in debt they were, and then made her prediction as to who would win based on various financial factors she knew about them. She made a last minute change to her pick based on a revelation one of the contestants made right there.

I remember last year her talking about the financial burden of being overweight, and really getting into some real discussion, but this time she had virtually nothing to say. Maybe they saved all the good stuff for her CNBC show this weekend; which would mean her appearance was little more than another blatant 'Biggest Loser' commercial.

Paula Deen fights off Today Show intruder with knives and coffee cake

by Bob Sassone, posted Oct 13th 2009 6:02PM
This is one of the more enjoyable clips you'll see this week. Paula Deen was on the Today Show a few days ago to make some coffee cake, but things got out of hand after some mysterious guy walked onto the set and laid on the ground behind the counter.

Deen gets off one of my favorite lines of the year, wondering where the guy came from. As a bonus, another TV personality makes a random appearance to try some of the cake and Ann Curry acts all Ann Curry-ish.
