FOX cancels Talk Show with Spike Feresten
by Bob Sassone, posted May 5th 2009 5:30PM
We did a story last year on how FOX had faith in Spike Feresten. Looks like they don't anymore.Broadcasting & Cable is reporting that the network has canceled Talk Show with Spike Feresten after three seasons. This isn't the biggest surprise on the television landscape, of course. The network announced recently that they had signed New Adventures of Old Christine star Wanda Sykes to do a talk show on Saturday nights, and it didn't seem logical for them to keep two late night talk shows on the same night. Feresten's show was paired with Mad TV for the past three seasons and FOX canceled that show, too, after many years.
FOX has faith in Spike Feresten

So Leno decided to stay at NBC and grab the 10pm slot every night. FOX didn't get him but they seem to be happy with Spike Feresten, so much that they're giving him an earlier time slot.Talk Show with Spike Feresten has been a staple of FOX's Saturday night schedule for the past couple of years. It doesn't get the numbers of a Leno or a Letterman or even a Kimmel but the ex-Seinfeld/Late Show with David Letterman writer has his fans. And a lot of those fans are at FOX. The network is moving the show from midnight to 11pm for six weeks on January 17 to see how he does (Mad TV has been canceled). Could this be the first step in giving Feresten his own talk show Monday through Friday?

Episodes of Talk Show with Spike Feresten on MySpace
by Adam Finley, posted Feb 4th 2007 3:02PM
This has probably been available for awhile, but I just found out that full episodes of Talk Show with Spike Feresten are available on MySpace. Feresten was a writer for Seinfeld and his new Saturday late night talk show on FOX is quite entertaining, and also the perfect length: it's only half an hour. The problem is, it's on Saturday nights so most people probably don't get a chance to see it, or they're already immersed in Saturday Night Live. If you're curious, you can watch the episodes here. I'll admit the show isn't flawless, but Feresten is a likable host, and I think the series has potential given some time to figure out what works and what doesn't. Most late night talk shows go through a kind of trial period when they first start out, and this one is no different. Also, the "Comedy for Stoners" bit at the end of every episode is pretty damn funny.TV Squad Hot Topics
