Talking TV Podcast Talks 'Walking Dead,' 'Terra Nova,' 'Sons of Anarchy' and More
by Maureen Ryan, posted Dec 1st 2011 3:45PM
It's mostly zombies, dinosaurs and bikers in the latest edition of the Talking TV with Ryan and Ryan podcast.Ryan McGee and I kicked things off by mentioning a few shows that premiere this week ('The Take,' 'Trek Nation' and 'Weed Wars'). By the way, you can find plenty of other notable December specials and such in this post.
We also talked a little about 'I Hate My Teenage Daughter,' but in a much longer section of the podcast, we discussed the state of genre television and in particular the disappointing first season of 'Terra Nova' and the very uneven second season of 'The Walking Dead.'
Then it was all 'Sons of Anarchy' all the time, as we discussed the latest installment of FX's biker drama. Running times are below.
Talking TV Podcast Talks 'Community' and 'Sons of Anarchy' with Critic Alan Sepinwall
by Maureen Ryan, posted Nov 16th 2011 3:45PM
We're working overtime here at Talking TV headquarters to double your pleasure this week. We've got two podcasts for you, and both of them feature special guests. My talk with 'Burn Notice' creator Matt Nix is here, and if you don't have time to listen to the whole thing, I excerpted some highlights from our chat on that post.
Ryan McGee and I also recorded a podcast with special guest Alan Sepinwall, TV critic for Hitfix.com. Talking TV: Part Deux finds us analyzing NBC's reasons for benching 'Community' and discussing what that means for the future of the show and the network. Alan also joined us for our weekly chat about 'Sons of Anarchy.'
Talking TV Takes on 'Hell on Wheels,' 'Sons of Anarchy,' Fall TV Winners and Losers
by Maureen Ryan, posted Nov 2nd 2011 2:20PM
This week on the Talking TV podcast, Ryan McGee and I discuss AMC's new Western drama, 'Hell on Wheels,' we gab about this week's episode of 'Sons of Anarchy,' and we delve into some of the fall season's winners and losers.Ryan and I each picked two winners and two losers: One of my winners was 'Revenge,' and one of my losers was fall's other woman-with-a-secret drama, the CW's 'Revenge.' Ryan chose ABC's Wednesday comedy block as a winner and 'Terra Nova' as a loser.
To find out what our other winner and loser choices were, grab the podcast and enjoy!
Talking TV Scares Up 'Grimm,' 'Chuck,' 'Allen Gregory' and 'Sons of Anarchy'
by Maureen Ryan, posted Oct 26th 2011 2:45PM
Good news (we hope) for SAMCRO fans: Now that 'Breaking Bad' has concluded its fourth season and we're not gabbing about that drama every week, Ryan McGee and I will be discussing 'Sons of Anarchy' weekly until 'SOA' ends its fourth season Nov. 29. In the final segment in this week's Talking TV podcast, we talk about Tuesday's eventful episode. Before that, behold the magic: We talk briefly about the return of 'Beavis & Butt-head' on MTV on Thursday, the arrival of the new crime drama 'Whitechapel' on BBC America Wednesday, and the debut of 'Allen Gregory,' Jonah Hill's new animated comedy, Sunday on Fox. Then we talk for longer periods about 'Chuck's' return on Friday and the debut of the supernatural detective drama 'Grimm' the same night on NBC.
Running times are below.

by Maureen Ryan, posted Oct 19th 2011 4:00PM
For this week's podcast, we had a special guest for the last segment. Alyssa Rosenberg, a former political reporter who writes about TV and pop culture for Think Progress and The Atlantic, joined Ryan McGee and myself for our discussion of 'Boss,' the new political drama starring Kelsey Grammar (my review of the show is here). Before we got to 'Boss,' Ryan and I discussed 'The Walking Dead's' new season and its boffo ratings, and we also gabbed about the new ABC drama 'Once Upon a Time,' which premieres Sunday.
Running times are below.
Talking TV Podcast Scrutinizes 'Doctor Who,' 'American Horror Story' and 'Breaking Bad'
by Maureen Ryan, posted Oct 5th 2011 3:00PM
This week's podcast focuses on a new show, a program that just had its season finale, and a drama that's heading toward the end of its season. In the first part of the podcast, Ryan McGee and I talked about FX's 'American Horror Story,' which debuts Wednesday (I reviewed it here). In the second part of the podcast, we talked about the season finale of 'Doctor Who,' which I wrote about here.
Finally, we wrapped up with a chat about the penultimate episode of 'Breaking Bad's' gripping fourth season. Just a heads up: After it airs, we'll have extensive coverage of the 'Breaking Bad' season finale, including an interview with creator Vince Gilligan and a 'Bad' Talking TV podcast featuring a special guest.
Further Thoughts on 'Torchwood,' Plus Podcast Chat on 'Falling Skies,' 'The Hour' and More
by Maureen Ryan, posted Aug 5th 2011 6:30PM
I'm a bit behind in posting updates about the last two podcasts, but we've got packed edition of Talking TV with Ryan and Ryan this week.In this week's podcast, Ryan McGee and I talk about TNT's 'Falling Skies,' which has its season finale Sunday, 'Torchwood,' which hits the midpoint of its Starz season tonight, and 'The Hour,' an interesting new drama that arrives on BBC America Aug. 17. I am not sure if I'll get a chance to write a full review of 'The Hour' this month, so if you're interested in the period drama, which stars Dominic West of 'The Wire' as a news anchor in mid-'50s London, you might check out our non-spoilery discussion of the show.
In the last segment, I talk about some of the things that have transpired at the Television Critics Association press tour, which I've been attending for the last two weeks.
I've got a bit more to say about the new season of 'Torchwood' further down in this post, and there are running times for the podcast below as well.
