Taryn Manning Was in the Middle of a Gang War While Shooting a Movie (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Jul 29th 2011 5:16AM
Taryn Manning, 'Chelsea Lately'Making movies can be dangerous work. Actors have gotten injured, and some have even died, for their art. But sometimes it's too dangerous to even start filming. On 'Chelsea Lately' (Weeknights, 11PM ET on E!), Taryn Manning detailed a day of shooting that didn't happen.

To make matters worse for her and the other actors ready to go at this dilapidated strip mall they'd found for the scene, they were all stuck in their trailers, being told they were not allowed to come out because of permit issues.

When Manning just wanted to go for Taco Bell and wasn't allowed, she started to get suspicious, eventually discovering that they were instead in the middle of warring gang territory. In other words, they were actually in danger just sitting there. So they scrapped the day and moved somewhere else.

'Law and Order: SVU' Preview: Ripped From Twitter

by Kelly Woo, posted Jan 5th 2011 3:40PM
Ice T, Law and Order SVU 'Law & Order: SVU' returns with two new episodes tonight (9PM ET, NBC), one of which is not just ripped from the headlines -- but ripped from star Ice T's Twitter.

Ice T told us in November that the show planned to write an episode around a Twitter war he was involved in over the sale of a book called 'The Pedophile's Guide to Love and Pleasure.' During a recent conference call with reporters, executive producer Neal Baer said, "I rewrote a scene for Ice-T to take that position, or Fin to take that position, which actually reflects his own point of view that he says something like, 'I got to tell you that I'm all for the First Amendment, but not when it lets perverts do stuff like this.'"

Taryn Manning guest stars in the episode, 'Possessed,' which is the second of tonight's episodes.

Is Taryn Manning Leaving 'Hawaii Five-0'? Spanish-Language Show Tops Ratings and More

by Chris Harnick, posted Dec 23rd 2010 11:45AM
Alex O'Loughlin, Taryn ManningTaryn Manning has been waiting in the wings for her time to shine on 'Hawaii Five-0,' but now that it's almost here, will it be her last?

Spoiler warning!

According to TV Guide, the Jan. 3 episode of 'Hawaii Five-0' will feature a plot that sees Manning's character MaryAnn get kidnapped. The episode might not exactly end on a happy note. "Steve discovers a tooth on the ground," Manning told TV Guide, "basically establishing that MaryAnn was a badass and fought her whole way through. There's a lot of emotion."

MaryAnn's kidnapping is tied to a bigger story: Wo Fat and the murder of Steve (Alex O'Loughlin) and MaryAnn's mom. The producers decided to shift the focus from Steve's personal life to his professional relationships, leaving Manning and her character in limbo, but under the impression she'd possibly be around for other seasons. "The family mystery was supposed to slowly unfold over the first season and I was going to play a big part in that with my own Nancy Drew mission," Manning said. "It was told to me that the first season would be based around the team more, and I should just hang tight."

Manning said the final scene will see Steve experiencing sadness over a loss.

Drive: No Turning Back

drive
(S01E04) Brett and I are sharing reviewing duties of Drive and I have to tell you right away that I am not as in love with this show as Brett is. I adore Tim Minear and almost everything he does, but I'm not completely sold on this series. Too many of the characters bother me. I find blondie Ivy extremely annoying, and I find Ellie (the soldier's wife) and Violet (the so-called high school Junior) to be over-actors. The reason I'm holding on is simple: Alex Tully. I was intrigued following the last five minutes of last week's episode when we found out that Tully used to be a bad ass bank robber.

Drive: The Starting Line/Partners (series premiere)

The cast of Drive
(S01E01/S01E02)
To be honest, I was sold on this one long before we finally got a look at what the Drive team has been working on all this time. I count myself as a Tim Minear fan, so his involvement was enough to get me interested. Add in a cast including Nathan Fillion (Firefly), Melanie Lynskey (Two And A Half Men), Kevin Alejandro (Sleeper Cell), Kristin Lehman (Tilt), Dylan Baker (The Book Of Daniel), and Taryn Manning (Hustle & Flow), and you really have something.
