'Real Housewives of Beverly Hills': Taylor Armstrong's Husband Said Pressures of Cameras Were 'Overwhelming'

by Chris Harnick, posted Aug 17th 2011 2:05PM
Taylor, Russell ArmstrongPrior to his apparent suicide, 'Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' star Taylor Armstrong's husband said he felt the pressures of being a reality TV husband.

In an interview with People, Russell, who hanged himself on Aug. 15, revealed the pressures of a crumbling marriage and financial problems got to be too much, especially when coupled with TV cameras.

"It got really overwhelming," Russell told People a few weeks before his death. "When you get a TV show involved and all the pressure, it just takes it to a whole new level. ... We were pushed to extremes."

Taylor and Russell Armstrong on 'The Early Show''The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' was supposed to premiere September 5. The apparent suicide of Russell Armstrong, ex-husband of Real Housewife Taylor Armstrong, has put that in doubt. According to The Hollywood Reporter, executives at Bravo are waiting at least a day or so to decide what to do with the season. Wednesday, 'The Early Show' (weekdays, 7AM on CBS) reported on Russell Armstrong's life and death.

The report covered Russell's split with Taylor, including Taylor's allegations of physical abuse, quoting an interview Russell did with Rumorflix.com. "The pressure of being in the TV spotlight was pretty overwhelming," said Russell. "It took our manageable problems and made them worse." They also spoke with Mike Fleeman, West Coast editor of People.com, who said, "We asked him about the allegations of physical abuse and he says, 'Look, things got out of hand, yeah maybe I did some of this stuff."

Will 'Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' Edit Scenes of Abuse in Armstrong Marriage?

by Maggie Furlong, posted Aug 16th 2011 3:30PM
Taylor and Russell ArmstrongBravo has been promoting Season 2 of the 'Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' (premieres Mon., Sept. 5, 10PM ET) with very sensitive footage of a fragile and emotionally broken Taylor Armstrong, dealing with her marital issues and alleged abuse by her then-husband Russell.

Reacting to today's very sad news that Russell Armstrong committed suicide last night, after the dissolution of their marriage and his abusive actions were so publicly reported, Bravo removed their drama-filled Season 2 online promo.

It was the right choice. No matter what happened between the two of them, the last thing anyone wants rehashed in a time of grief is the emotional inciting incident.

But what about the actual show? How much -- if at all -- will Bravo edit the episodes to exclude the late Russell Armstrong and his admitted spousal abuse? And how much should they edit?

Bravo Star Says Beverly Hills Housewife Taylor Has 'Drama,' TMZ Divorce Rumors Agree

by Maggie Furlong, posted Jul 15th 2011 7:15PM
Taylor ArmstrongIf you're on one Bravo show, chances are good that you know everyone else on every other Bravo show. It's a fact -- Bravo-lebrities like to mix and mingle.

Case in point: Any episode of network programming head Andy Cohen's talk show, 'Watch What Happens Live,' where he brings together his network reality stars for fun games and lots of cocktails.

Another fine example: Spying Camille Grammer -- controversial star of 'The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' and Kelsey Grammer's now ex-wife -- in a preview for next week's 'Million Dollar Decorators' season finale (Tues., July 19, 10PM ET on Bravo). Camille is shown hugging one of the show's stars, designer Martyn Lawrence Bullard.

So, when I caught up with Bullard today to hear all about the designer drama, I had to ask about his 'Real Housewives' pals. "Camille and Lisa Vanderpump are both friends of mine, and they show up at my event [in next week's finale]," he confirmed.

With TMZ now reporting that another troubled 'Housewives' couple, Taylor Armstrong and her husband Russell, are splitting, Bullard's only dish on 'RHOBH' Season 2 seems particularly telling. So how much does he know about the upcoming season?

Faye Resnick and Camille Grammer Ignite a Massive Dinner Party Argument on 'Real Housewives of Beverly Hills'

by Oliver Miller, posted Dec 17th 2010 6:40AM
'Real Housewives of Beverly Hills': The Wives Have a Psychic for Dinner, Then Start ScreamingAin't no party like a 'Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' party. On the latest episode (Thu., 10PM ET on Bravo), Camille Grammer invites the other women over for a dinner party. In addition, there are several non-housewife-based guests, including Allison DuBois, the psychic who inspired the TV show 'Medium.' Also attending the party -- Faye Resnick, ex-drug addict, ex-'Playboy' model, and friend of Nicole Brown Simpson, murdered wife of O.J. Simpson.

Wow. Even without the slightly odd dinner guests, having this many 'Housewives' in the same room at the same time can't possibly be a good idea. And this turns out to be the case, as the ladies get pretty tipsy and start screaming at one another.

A Puppy War on 'Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' (VIDEO)

A Puppy War on 'Real Housewives of Beverly Hills'"Diamonds are a girl's best friend," or so the saying goes. But this isn't the case on 'The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.' Especially not when the girl in question is only four years old.

On the new episode (Thu., 10PM ET on Bravo), Taylor Armstrong throws a birthday party for her four-year-old daughter Kennedy. Nothing but the best will do, so Taylor blows $50,000 on a "tea party" themed gathering for Kennedy. That's fifty ... thousand dollars. In a sense, the party isn't really for Kennedy -- it's more so Taylor can dress up in front of her friends.

Kennedy is overwhelmed by the huge gathering and wants to hide upstairs -- a normal response for a little girl. Then, Taylor presents Kennedy with her birthday present: a diamond necklace. But since Kennedy is four, she doesn't really "get" the concept of diamonds, plus she's starting to cry.
