The OC: The Dream Lover

by Jonathan Toomey, posted Jan 18th 2007 11:41PM

The OC(S04E11) Lots going on here, a pretty jam packed episode. As usual, I loved it but there were a few things that irked me. I gripe because I love. Like all fans of The OC, I'm savoring every second of it though. Only five more episodes and it's over.

Just look at how much the show has evolved though. Stuff that happened in this episode would have never occurred in the first season. It's changed a lot and I'm all for it. The show is done. Might as well go out with a bang.

The OC: The Chrismukk-huh?

by Jonathan Toomey, posted Dec 15th 2006 8:33AM

Ryan and Taylor argue as they decorate for Chrismukkah.(S04E07) This was an interesting episode. It's not that I didn't like it, but I just found it a little disappointing. I say that because this episode didn't really do anything to advance the plot of our season. A season, I should remind you, that will only have 16 episodes and may very well be The OC's last. With that in mind, I guess I just expected Josh Schwartz and Co. to give us 16 jam-packed episodes. Up until now they had. This one was fun, it was gimmicky. But it didn't do it for me.

Centering around Ryan and Taylor, the two of them had been fighting about Taylor's "girlfriend status" and whether or not Ryan would be inviting her to Chrismukkah dinner. They were decorating the Cohen's house and in the heat their argument, Taylor tumbled off the ladder and Ryan fell off the roof trying to stop her. Now they're both in comas and when they wake up, nothing is as it seems.

Really old cop in FOX's New Amsterdam

by Adam Finley, posted Dec 13th 2006 2:01PM

FOXFOX has ordered a pilot for a new cop show with the working title of New Amsterdam. The new series is about a cop who, unbeknownst to everyone, is actually centuries old because he's cursed with immortality. I always thought that was the plot of Colombo, shows what I know. Allan Loeb and Christian Taylor wrote the pilot script, but beyond that not much is known about the series. I like to think the cop will spend most of the episodes lusting after septuagenarians who are way too young for him.

Also, it took me longer than I care to admit to piece together that "New York" used to be called "New Amsterdam," hence the immortal cop has been there a long time. I'm a bit slow at times, but I get there eventually.

The OC: The Summer Bummer

by Jonathan Toomey, posted Dec 8th 2006 3:29PM

Sandy and Ryan in the poolhouse.(S04E06) I'm really frustrated that no one is watching this season of The OC. The ratings have been blah since the premiere and I know it's up against Grey's Anatomy and CSI, but c'mon people! This show is good again. It deserves to be watched. Honestly. I doubt very much we'll see the episode order jump from 16 to 22 but at least FOX isn't giving up. They did throw their own petition together... odd. But hey, I'm not complaining. It's something.

OK, so there's my piece on that whole mess. On to the episode.

Chat live during American Idol

AI;
american idol; logo; moobyPickler's gone! I'm not nearly as torn up about that as I would have imagined I would have been if I knew that 3 months ago. She came across as way too ditzy and not nearly as innocent as we had all originally thought. Plus, I've heard she's absolutely hell on wheels in real life. Oh and her singing yada yada yada, but let's be honest, that's not what this competition is about. Come join me and the rest of the American Idol fanatics tonight as we chat live during the show. As with all of our chats, you must have AIM or a compatible chat client (Trillian, GAIM, etc), once you have that, meet back here to this very post at 8pm ET, and that's when I'll unveil the location for our super secret chat room. See you then!

The poetry of Randy Jackson

by Bob Sassone, posted Apr 27th 2006 1:52PM
American IdolFunny post over at EW's PopWatch blog, printing the eloquent, beautiful poetry/reviews of singers from American Idol judge Randy Jackson. On Chris Daughtry:

Yo, yo
Yo, yo
Amazing, amazing
Loved the jacket
Loved you
Amazing

Actually, I'd much rather see Paula's rambling in poetry form.

If Kellie doesn't go home tonight, there's something wrong with Idol voting

by Bob Sassone, posted Apr 19th 2006 6:40PM
She did indeed butcher that song last night. She sounded like someone trying to do a sexy song for a Disney cartoon about animals.

Chris, Paris, Taylor, and Katherine all did great. I'm not the biggest Chris fan because I think if he wins he'll do songs that sound like Creed or Lifehouse, and I'd rather jam pencils in my ears, but he sang that song perfectly. Taylor and Katherine both did really well, and Paris? Paula actually nailed it (yeah, surprising!) when she said that Paris should release an album of standards. I said that on the night Paris auditioned. She really sings that type of song great, and it will make her timeless. I hope they don't ruin her by making her a "pop" star.

The bottom three will probably be Kellie (definitely), Eliott, and Ace. If Kellie stays, the voters are insane, and I'm never watching this show again. (Elliott and Ace will be going home in the coming weeks though - no way they'll win).

Oh, and on another note: how in the world was last night a "Rod Stewart Night?" Seriously, the guy releases a few albums of standards and that qualifies as "Rod Stewart night?" Maybe they should have just called it "American Standards Night" or something. But I guess they want the big name and want to push his album. Hell, a few years ago, Pat Boone released a album of hard rock covers. If they have a "Pat Boone Night," will it be all hard rock songs?

Stewart was right when at one point he said "you sang that better than I do!" Um, yeah Rod, everyone sings these songs better than you.

Chat live with the Queens of American Idol

AI;
american idol; logo; moobyNo, that title isn't saying that the girls are all divas or calling anyone's sexuality into question, it's just referring to the fact that tonight our favorite eight contestants get to rock out to the legendary music of Queen. This is honestly the most excited I've been over a theme since the first time they did the country night. Tonight's performances will probably either be brilliant and inspired, or utter train wrecks, and I can't wait to watch both. Come join me and all the other American Idol fanatics and we'll chat live along with the performances. Join me right back here to this very post at 8pm ET, and that's when I'll unveil the location for the super secret chatroom. As with all of our chats, you need either AIM or a compatible chat client (GAIM, Trillian, etc) to join the room. See you tonight!

The OC: Kaitlan Returns

by Lacy Hall, posted Jan 19th 2006 11:07PM
kaitlin before and afterTonight was the triumphant return of Kaitlan, Marissa's once invisible sister turned jailbait sister. Awww, the magic of TV speed-aging. When last we saw Kaitlan, she was wearing pink sweatsuits, and complaining about not getting to ride her hairless pony enough. All the while, her older sis was overdosing in Tijuana, and almost being raped by her boyfriend's brother. Yup, it's about time for Kaitlan's return.
