by Jason Hughes, posted Apr 5th 2011 4:25AM
Rainn Wilson, 'Lopez Tonight'There are many things that happen on a film set the public never becomes aware of. Rainn Wilson is throwing back the curtain on 'Lopez Tonight' (Weeknights, 12AM ET on TBS) and revealing the true relationships that can occur between stars during those long and exhausting shoots.

After heaping accolades on his 'Super' co-star Ellen Page for her abilities as an actress in the film, he then revealed a more intimate detail of their time together.

"But we get along great. We share a sense of humor," he said. "On the set, we became butt buddies."

'Lopez': Bethenny Frankel Helped Uncover and Bust a Russian Crime Ring (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Mar 29th 2011 6:56AM
Bethenny Frankel, 'Lopez Tonight'Some cop in New York owes Bethenny Frankel a big thank you. Actually, a whole lot of law enforcement officials could give thanks for her perseverance based on the story she told on 'Lopez Tonight' (Weeknights, 12AM ET on TBS) of how she uncovered a Russian crime ring.

It all started when Frankel went to sell her engagement ring on eBay and it got stolen. While the police were doing their thing, Frankel returned to eBay where she found her ring and tracked down the store that had it.

Then she went to the store and found her actual ring and called the police. "I called this guy at the police department who wouldn't help me," she said. "We're getting my ring, and if you don't get down here by 5 o'clock I'm going in and I'm stealing it and then you can take me to jail."

'Lopez' Reveals Video of Mike Tyson on a Foreign 'Dancing With the Stars' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Mar 22nd 2011 6:17AM
Mike Tyson, 'Lopez Tonight''Dancing With the Stars' has managed to get quite an array of talent across its twelve seasons so far. But one name they haven't gotten is the heavyweight champ, Mike Tyson. Or, at least, the U.S. version of 'DWTS' hasn't gotten him.

Tyson admitted on 'Lopez Tonight' (Weeknights, 12AM ET on TBS) that he did participate in a foreign edition of the show, but that his wife struggled with watching him dance with another woman.

But then George Lopez revealed that he had footage of Tyson dancing, and we got to see her struggle first-hand. It may not have been so much that he was dancing with another woman, because you can barely call it that. Tyson's wife probably felt sorry for his professional partner having to dance with him.

by Jason Hughes, posted Mar 4th 2011 3:31AM
Scott Disick, 'Lopez Tonight' 'Keeping Up with the Kardashians'It's difficult to put the demons of your past behind you. Even more so when those demons were broadcast across the nation on one of the most popular reality programs of the past decade. So Scott Disick ('Keeping Up With the Kardashians') wasn't at all surprised when he got a sour reaction from the crowd on 'Lopez Tonight' (Weeknights, 12AM ET on TBS).

"It happens even when I walk down the street sometimes," he said.

"People boo you?" Lopez asked.

"Go f*** yourself," they'll apparrently say to him. As he put it, "You know, the normal stuff. But nothing too bad."

TBS Cancels 'Glory Daze'

by Jean Bentley, posted Feb 24th 2011 3:00PM
Glory DazeIt appears the nostalgia factor wasn't enough for TBS's hourlong comedy 'Glory Daze' -- the show has been cancelled after one season.

'Glory Daze,' from Walt Becker and Michael LeSier, followed the exploits of a group of frat brothers attending an Indiana college in 1986. According to Deadline, despite a low median viewer age and consistent DVR ratings boosts, the so-so ratings weren't enough to bring the show back for a second season.

Martin Lawrence Had Justin Bieber Stop By His House and Surprise His Daughters (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Feb 23rd 2011 6:15AM
Martin Lawrence talks Justin Bieber, 'Lopez Tonight'Martin Lawrence has pull. Now, for all you teenage girls out there, don't expect your own dads to be able to do what Lawrence did for his daughters. He told George Lopez on 'Lopez Tonight' (Weeknights, 12AM ET on TBS) about how disappointed the girls were when he promised a visit from Justin Bieber a couple of weekends ago, and the teen pop star didn't show up.

"You ain't got no pull, Dad!" they told him.

So this past weekend, he made it happen. This time, he kept it a surprise from the girls, too.

"How did they react?" Lopez asked.

Tamra Barney of 'The Real Housewives of Orange County' is Dating a 'Younger George Lopez' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Feb 15th 2011 4:45AM
Tamra Barney of 'The Real Housewives of Orange County' on 'Lopez Tonight'George Lopez had more than his hands full with the cast of 'The Real Housewives of Orange County' on 'Lopez Tonight' (Weeknights, 12AM ET on TBS). They especially got fired up when the recently divorced Tamra Barney started talking about her new "Latin lover," Eddie.

Lopez missed the connection to an earlier conversation about her birthday present being a BMW. "It's a code," she said with a laugh. When pressed she revealed that it stands for "Big Mexican Weenie."

At least they use the cuter term for it. On second thought, that might make it worse.

Lopez was definitely asking for trouble, after the "BMW" reveal, when he asked, "What does Eddie do that your husband didn't do?"

Checking Up On Conan O'Brien

by Stephanie Earp, posted Feb 7th 2011 5:00PM

It was about a year ago that Conan O'Brien was basically ousted from his newly minted role as host of 'The Tonight Show.' For me, the whole incident is forever tied to the Vancouver Olympics, since as soon as the Games were over, we all knew that Jay 'Lantern Jaw' Leno would be back in his old seat at NBC.

Like many others, I supported O'Brien's cause. Looking back on it now, I realize I was incensed on behalf on my generation; Conan's plight was a vivid example of how we young folk labor for years under the promise of an eventual promotion, only to have it snatched away (or, at least, we feel like that's what happens). If NBC was truly bowing to audience pressure in reinstating Leno as host, it was a clear victory for the boomers in the intergenerational war.

Isaiah Mustafa on Funny Commercials, 'Chuck' and Being "The Old Spice Guy"

by Joel Keller, posted Dec 16th 2010 2:30PM
Isaiah Mustafa, the If the name Isaiah Mustafa doesn't ring a bell, then all you need to do is think of the words "Old Spice." Since February, Mustafa has been the very manly face of the venerable brand's line of body washes, appearing in a series of very funny ads that have gone viral in a big way. The first ad in the series debuted online before reaching people's television screens, and each of the ads in the series have multiple millions of views on YouTube.

The ads, which have paired Mustafa's hilarious over-the-top characterization of "the man your man could smell like" with creative visual effects, have propelled the former NFL practice-squad player to "That Guy"-level of stardom, one he has capitalized on with a role in 'Chuck' and upcoming roles in the films 'Horrible Bosses' and 'Mededa's Big Happy Family,' among others.

Tonight at 10PM ET, he'll be hosting 'Funniest Commercials of the Year: 2010.' And, while his ads will undoubtedly be in the mix, the self-described "big TV fan" is passionate about all the other ads on the special, many of which can be seen at TBS's website VeryFunnyAds.com.

'Glory Daze' Is a Campus Comedy in Search of Laughs

by Maureen Ryan, posted Nov 16th 2010 9:45AM
The bar for fraternity comedies isn't exactly set high.

Sure, 'Animal House' is a classic, but since that delightful film debuted 32 years ago, college comedies have become increasingly predictable. They feature wild parties, of course, but also the usual campus suspects: the wide-eyed freshman ogling campus babes, the stoner sage dispensing baked wisdom, the weird roommate, the uptight preppies, the charismatic bad boy who educates newbies about Greek life and beer bongs, etc.

Done with the right amount of energy and heart, even a formulaic combination of those elements can end up being rather charming, as is the case with ABC Family's slight but decent college soap 'Greek.'

If you were hoping 'Glory Daze' (10PM ET Tuesday, TBS) would do anything remotely creative with the usual roster of campus standbys, however, consider your hopes dashed.

'Conan,' Night 2: That's More Like It

by Maureen Ryan, posted Nov 10th 2010 11:30AM
Not surprisingly, the second outing of 'Conan' was much better than the first.

As I wrote here, in Conan O'Brien's unimpressive TBS debut, he was straining to conform to the well-established rules of a typical late-night talk show. It was all about making the trains run on time, but Conan works much better when he doesn't have to watch the clock.

Of course Conan's chat with Tom Hanks killed. But Tuesday's pre-taped segment with a TBS censor was just as enjoyable.

Meet the New 'Conan' - Very Similar to the Old Conan (VIDEO)

by Maureen Ryan, posted Nov 9th 2010 1:30AM
All the turmoil and all those Twitter frenzies... for that?

Given a chance to reinvent himself on basic cable, Conan O'Brien offered up a standard-issue late-night show on Monday's 'Conan' debut.

He kept his post-'Tonight Show' beard, and he has a fancy new (and very blue) set. But despite the nervous energy of the host, much of 'Conan' felt very predictable. There was little of the surreal, weird or goofy humor that so endeared Conan to his loyal audience.

Let's face it, there are a lot of people out there who can interview nervous starlets. Conan O'Brien doesn't need to be one of them.

The Inside Word on 'Conan' From Writer Brian Kiley

by Nick Zaino, posted Nov 8th 2010 2:37PM
Conan on TBSAs a writer on 'Late Night with Conan O'Brien,' Brian Kiley used to share an office with the Masturbating Bear. It was disconcerting, he told us, to try write monologue jokes while sitting across the desk from a guy in a bear suit wearing a diaper.

Times have changed for Kiley and the Masturbating Bear. First, O'Brien moved from 'Late Night' to 'The Tonight Show,' bringing Kiley, but not the Bear, with him. Then Conan was dumped from 'The Tonight Show' in a controversial move by NBC, and he and his staff found themselves homeless, just months after hauling their entire operation across the country from New York to California.

But now Conan is back on TBS with a new late night show simply titled 'Conan,' and Kiley is, too.

Pre-Programming 'Conan': What TBS Should Program at 10PM

by Rich Keller, posted Nov 8th 2010 11:35AM
TBS needs to get quirky in order to fill its 10 p.m. slot with original programming.Countdown to 'Conan': Get ready for Conan O'Brien's TBS talk show debut on Nov. 8

For TBS, a golden opportunity has arisen. With Conan's new show premiering tonight, the network is in prime shape to compete with cable powerhouses TNT, USA and SyFy for a stake in the weeknight original programming race. Specifically, the 10PM slot, which will determine the eventual lead-in ratings for 'Conan' after the initial hype wears down.

However, adding new programming isn't as simple as you think. Adding a standard sitcom or sketch show just won't do. What will be needed is programming just as quirky and absurdist as the gangly O'Brien in order to draw in and keep the audience for not only his program but for 'Lopez Tonight,' which will be taking the midnight spot.
