'Teen Mom' Amber Portwood and Gary Fight Over Looming Legal Troubles (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Jul 20th 2011 10:15AM
Amber Portwood, 'Teen Mom'On 'Teen Mom' (Tue., 10PM ET on MTV), Amber Portwood is something of a hot mess. She has some serious anger issues, and can mix them with an unhealthy dose of denial as well.

While Gary was smug and insensitive to the fact that Amber is at risk of losing custody of their daughter, he was right in saying, "Nothing I did should ever provoke you enough to hit me."

In fact, we were flabbergasted when Amber said, "Yeah, everything is my fault for hitting you. But the thing is, Gary, what provoked those situations?" Yup, Amber's blaming him for her lack of self control.

Tyler and Catelynn Struggle Trying to Move a Box Spring on 'Teen Mom' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Jul 13th 2011 5:28AM
Catelyn & Tyler, 'Teen Mom'After hemming and hawing and complaining about apartment sizes, Tyler and Catelynn finally settled on a place they could call their very own on 'Teen Mom' (Tue., 10PM ET on MTV). Now, getting everything moved in proved more challenging than they anticipated.

Primarily, because they decided to try and do it without a truck, and some items simply will not fold down small enough to fit into a car. Luckily, Catelynn proved herself a clever teen mom when she came up with a plan for the box spring.

When it wasn't going to fit into the car, she decided to tie it to the roof, and she would hold the ties on the inside. Okay, so it's probably not the approved method of moving a box spring across town, but it got the job done, and the kids were able to look forward to an uninterrupted night in their own bed, without any parents around at all.

The Original 'Teen Mom' Is Back Tonight, Thank Goodness

by Jean Bentley, posted Jul 5th 2011 1:20PM
Teen MomMTV's original 'Teen Mom' cast returns to the network tonight with the premiere of the third season of its '16 and Pregnant' spinoff reality show.

Although we've seen two more half-seasons of '16 and Pregnant' and an all-new group of mothers in 'Teen Mom 2,' the last time we watched Farrah, Maci, Amber and Catelynn and their parenting exploits was way back in October of 2010.

In the intervening nine months, it's become clearer and clearer how much MTV needs them back. Though the network likely hoped to capture 'Teen Mom''s success with a second group of girls, they just weren't as appealing.

'Teen Mom' Season 3 Trailer: The Terrible Twos

by Jean Bentley, posted Jun 8th 2011 12:30PM
Teen MomThere's plenty of drama in MTV's trailer for the newest season of 'Teen Mom' (original version) -- Amber gets arrested, Maci fails her college classes, Farrah contemplates a move and Caitlin fears for her relationship -- but all of that seems irrelevant because OH MY GOSH, those babies are getting so big!

Little Leah, Bentley and Sophia are now approaching their terrible twos, and have the cute long hair and limited vocabulary to match. As blah as most of the girls on 'Teen Mom 2' are, it could be a good thing that MTV held out on bringing their original cast back for more. This way, there's a noticeable difference in age and appearance for all the tots.

Does 'Teen Mom' Exploit Vulnerable Girls?

by PopEater Staff, posted Mar 30th 2011 5:20AM
Amber Portwood and Jenelle EvansAfter yet another scandal broke this past weekend involving a 'Teen Mom' star, experts are asking whether appearing on the show makes the girls more unstable.

'Teen Mom 2' star Jenelle Evans was arrested for assault after a video surfaced of her brutally beating another teen. She's also been charged with drug possession and breaking and entering.

Her fellow 'Teen Mom,' Amber Portwood, was arrested in December and spent 24 hours in jail on charges of attacking her baby daddy in front of their two-year-old daughter.

Now experts are raising the question of whether 'Teen Mom' is to blame for taking obviously unstable teenagers and thrusting them into a spotlight they are not ready to handle.

"These are not the most stable girls to begin [with]," says clinical psychologist and HealthGuru.com contributor Jeffrey Gardere. "They have a lot of issues and stresses from being teenagers who are pregnant, and now they are in the public eye. Some of them are making a lot of money, and that is a stress in itself, which can cause some real behavioral issues."

'Red Eye' Compares 'Teen Mom' to Panhadling Technique of 'Crippling' (VIDEO)

by Jeremy Taylor, posted Dec 30th 2010 9:05PM
Does the MTV reality show 'Teen Mom,' and the hype surrounding it, suggest to teenage girls that what would otherwise be an unwanted pregnancy can now lead to fame and fortune?

The folks on 'Red Eye' (weekdays, 3AM ET on Fox News) seem to think that it does, with panelist and author Dana Vachon going as far to compare 'Teen Mom' to the barbaric practice of crippling:

"I was in Cairo recently, there's an industry there called crippling," Vachon explained. "These guys are cripplers, and if you are really poor, they'll break your legs in some bizarre way so that you can make a living panhandling. ('Teen Mom') is like the First World American equivalent of crippling."

Are Vachon's remarks just hyperbolic and harsh or does he have a point?
