What's It All About?
Based on a series of young-adult novels by Sara Shepard, 'Pretty Little Liars' is the story of four high school friends, Aria, Spencer, Hanna and Emily, who reunite one year after the disappearance and presumed death of their friend and "queen bee," Alison. The group ends up being involved in a mystery stretching across the entire town of Rosewood.

Followers of the British series may scoff and declare there's no need for an American version of this show, but I, who is mildly obsessed with the original (which airs on BBC America), encourage my fellow Tony Stonem fans to give this faithful-in-spirit adaptation a shot.

At the very least, it's refreshing to see a teen drama that doesn't focus solely on the melodramatic lives of the rich and privileged.

In case it wasn't clear about three minutes in, this series makes 'Glee,' with its occasional references to losing your virginity, girl-on-girl hook-ups and teen pregnancy, look like a Saturday-morning cartoon.

Every once in a while The O.C. likes to have episodes that are sort of a downer. I think of them as bummer episodes. Nothing goes right, and all the characters are really bummed out about their lives. There is usually a sad music/blank face montage at the end of the show to make us feel sad and bummed out about our own lives too. This was one of those episodes. It's Kaitlin's 15th birthday, but nobody cares. Nobody feels much like celebrating, including Kaitlin, who would rather spend her time seducing Johnny. Does she like Johnny or is she just trying to make Marissa jealous?
