News Roundup: 'The Real Housewives of New Jersey' Casting Rumors, 'Lone Star' Tanks and More

by Jean Bentley, posted Sep 28th 2010 6:38PM
Teresa GiudiceApparently Bravo likes Teresa Giudice's family -- a lot. According to RadarOnline, the network is now courting Giudice's cousin, Katherina Wakile, to appear on the third season of 'The Real Housewives of New Jersey.'

This news follows reports that Bravo has already asked Giudice's sister-in-law, Melissa Gorga, to join the show. According to Radar, Giudice is not pleased that either woman is poised to become a regular 'Real Housewives' cast member. "Teresa isn't happy that her family is being asked to join the cast," a source told Radar. "She feels as if her entire family is being approached to be a part of the show."

Production on season 3 is set to begin soon, though Giudice has still not signed her contract for the show.

In other TV news ...

'Lone Star' tanked in the ratings yet again, falling 23 percent from last week's dismal debut. NBC's 'The Event' was also down, but 'Castle' and 'How I Met Your Mother' were both up. [The Hollywood Reporter]

'The O.C.' veterans Rachel Bilson and Josh Schwartz have teamed up again for a new NBC show called 'Ghost Angeles.' The Schwartz-written show will star Bilson as a woman who can communicate with the dead. NBC committed to a producing the pilot despite the fact that no script has been written yet. [Deadline]

Yet another report is claiming that 'The Real Housewives of Miami' is a done deal. Like previous stories, an anonymous source claims the series was originally intended to be another reality series for Bravo, but the network decided to expand its franchise instead. [E! Online]

Andy Cohen Says Shove by Teresa Giudice Doesn't Make Him Weak (VIDEO)

by Donald Deane, posted Sep 16th 2010 2:30PM
Host Andy Cohen complained on 'The Wendy Williams Show' (weekdays, syndicated) that people think he's a "weakling" after getting shoved and knocked back by Teresa Giudice on 'The Real Housewives of New Jersey' reunion. But, Cohen said, things would have gone differently if he had a chance to prepare.

"I was shocked. She was very strong, she was very angry and I got between her and Danielle," Cohen said of Giudice. "But, the truth is, I was shocked and amazed. And people think I'm a weakling, and had I been ready, had I had a stance ... I would not have fallen back."

Does Teresa Giudice Deserve a Raise on 'The Real Housewives of New Jersey'?

by Chris Harnick, posted Sep 1st 2010 1:00PM
Teresa GiudiceTeresa Giudice has been making waves on the Internet thanks to her outrageous spending -- even after filing for bankruptcy -- and hot temper on Bravo's 'Real Housewives of New Jersey.' But that could all change if she doesn't get a raise.

According to TMZ, Giudice wants more money or she's walking away from the Bravo reality series. And not just any kind of raise, either -- she wants 'Jersey Shore'-like money.

Popeater's Rob Shuter says the cast of 'Real Housewives of New Jersey' make $3,333 per episode. That's peanuts compared to the 'Jersey Shore' kids, who reportedly get close to $30,000 per episode -- not to mention 'Shore' cast member Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino and his reported $5 million payday from endorsement deals and appearances.

Should Giudice and the other ladies get a boost? Heck yes!

Teresa Giudice Nephew Mention Sets Off Intense 'Real Housewives' Fight (VIDEO)

by Aimee Deeken, posted Aug 31st 2010 12:20PM
Teresa Guidice Gets Ugly on 'Real Housewives' of NJMuch of this two-minute clip involves Teresa Giudice cursing at Danielle Staub. On 'The Real Housewives of New Jersey' Reunion show (Mon., 10PM ET on BRAVO), Danielle said that Teresa barely acknowledged her own nephew. Teresa responded by launching from the couch, looming over a seated Danielle and repeatedly yelling, "Do not break up my family! You [beep] bitch!"

Host Andy Cohen tried to restrain her. With a single shove, Teresa threw him back into his chair. Danielle left the stage as Teresa continued a slew of profanities. Caroline Manzo finally stepped in, coaxing her to calm down by saying, "Teresa, we know that."

Andy implored Teresa to not leave the couch again. Meanwhile, offstage, Danielle regained composure with the assistance of a man repeatedly assuring her, "Amazing things. Amazing things happening."

Joe Guidice Explains His Car Accident on NJ 'Housewives' (VIDEO)

by Aimee Deeken, posted Aug 10th 2010 7:20AM
Joe Guidice Explains Car Accident on NJ 'Housewives'To hear Teresa Guidice's husband Joe tell it, his major car accident stemmed from "a deep yawn." He didn't drink at all that evening, he said on 'The Real Housewives of New Jersey' (Mon., 10PM ET on BRVO). He was just tired. "I shut my eyes for a second" and hit four trees. "I get through the trees, I hit the pole."

The accident happened in front of a house belonging to a friend of his father's. Before the cops showed up, Guidice helped himself to several shots of the man's Scotch. That's not as stupid as driving drunk, but surely that's unwise.

To Danielle Staub, it's all karma. "Karma's a real big bitch ... It will catch you," she said.

Teresa Giudice Tells 'The View': 'I Always Live Within My Means'

by Ryan McKee, posted Aug 3rd 2010 2:20PM
Bankruptcy is not just something that happens out of nowhere -- a serious life-altering event or a series of bad financial decisions have to occur. However, on yesterday morning's 'The View,' 'The Real Housewives of New Jersey' star Teresa Giudice maintained that her family's bankruptcy was not their fault: The reason they don't have money is because of their tenants' inability to pay rent and a lawsuit from her husband's ex-partner.

Giudice's statements seemed rehearsed. When the hosts ashed her to elaborate, she became flustered. In an moment of actual TV journalism, Elisabeth Hasselbeck pressed Giudice about whether her outrageous spending could be the problem.

NJ 'Housewife' Teresa Gets Copter Ride, Big Ring from Bankrupt Hubby (VIDEO)

by Aimee Deeken, posted Jul 27th 2010 10:00AM
Teresa's Big Anniversary Gifts on NJ 'Housewives'Teresa Guidice says husband Joe's business has been effected by the economic slump. But you'd never know it: For their 10th wedding anniversary, they go for a helicopter ride above New York City.

"We were supposed to do that on our honeymoon in Hawaii, but he backed out at the last minute," says Teresa on 'The Real Housewives of New Jersey' (Mon., 10PM ET on BRVO). The couple sips champagne and enjoys the view. (Surely Joe knows that is Central Park, right? Right?)

Later at dinner, Joe asks what she'd like for dessert. She answers, "You." The (uncomfortable) waiter instead gives her a chocolate cake, within which sits a ginormous yellow-diamond ring.

Fast forward to July, and the couple has since filed for bankruptcy. The Guidices will auction off many of their possessions in August. Joe, you would've saved a lotta money if you'd given her the dessert she requested...

Incredibly Rude on 'The Real Housewives of New Jersey' (VIDEO)

by Oliver Miller, posted Jun 22nd 2010 3:45AM
Incredibly Rude on 'The Real Housewives of New Jersey'It takes special effort to be more rude and more tacky than a 'Real Housewife.' But on the latest episode of 'The Real Housewives of New Jersey' (Mon., 10PM ET on Bravo), party planner Elvira Grau accomplishes this difficult feat.

Housewife Teresa Giudice decides to throw a housewarming party -- even though she and her husband may actually be broke. She's not throwing a party at the house that she might have to sell in order to cover her debts. And the party isn't at the second house she has to sell to pay off her debts. No; the party is at her other other house. Ah, good times. Nothing like owing $10 million and still deciding to throw a lavish celebration.

Teresa invites party planner Elvira into her house to assist with the affair. Unfortunately, Elvira turns out to be awful. Elvira gives Teresa a hard time for not having her own personal nanny, maid, driver, and cook -- while somehow not understanding that other human beings can manage to drive and cook and clean for themselves.

The 'Real' NJ Experience: Partying With 'Housewives of New Jersey' on Their Turf

by Sandra Deane, posted May 4th 2010 2:05PM
The author's mother with Teresa Guidice of The Real Housewives of New JerseyI'm a Jersey girl, born and raised and, with the exception of a two-year exodus to Northern California, a life-long resident. I was born here and I plan on dying here in the house my mother grew up in. Yep, I'm THAT kind of Jersey girl. Needless to say, a girl like me doesn't say no to an invite to The Brownstone in Paterson, NJ to attend the official 'The Real Housewives of NJ' premiere party.

So, with my mom in tow (natch; that's her in the photo next to star Teresa Giudice), I hit the biggest party in town Monday night. The Brownstone is a beautiful venue in the state's third largest city. After checking in, we noticed a massive spread - a very Italian feast including calamari, eggplant parm and a stunning arrangement of cured meats and fresh mozzarella.

While most of the cast was holed up on another floor with press, Teresa and her daughter Gia were mingling with diners, graciously taking photos and answering questions. Despite her fabulous new "bubbies," it was her amazingly styled hair that seemed to draw the most attention.

Jersey 'Housewives' Are Coming Back May 3

by Allison Waldman, posted Mar 26th 2010 10:47AM
real_housewives_of_new_jersey_standingIn anticipation of the new season of 'The Real Housewives of New Jersey,' the restaurateurs in the Franklin Lakes vicinity have decided to anchor all dining tables to the floor like McDonald's and Burger King. That way, Teresa can't be doing any table-flipping unless she's wearing a cape with a giant 'S' in red and has an aversion to Kryptonite.

No seriously -- and table-flipping is hardly that -- those Jersey women are coming back. Bravo's 'The Real Housewives of New Jersey' returns Monday, May 3 at 10 PM ET. And unlike some editions of the 'Real Housewives,' all the principals are part of the action.

The Twelve Days of Festivus: Nine on-air breakdowns

by Danny Gallagher, posted Dec 15th 2009 11:00AM
Glenn BeckOn the ninth day of Festivus, TV gave to me... nine on-air breakdowns.

Director Alfred Hitchcock once said, "Television has done much for psychiatry by spreading information about it, as well as contributing to the need for it."

Yes, having a camera stuck in your face for an hour or more a day must take a toll on your sanity. Your privacy is virtually limited. Your every move is scrutinized and criticized by faceless meanies. Your therapist is one session away from owning his own fishing trawler.

It's only a matter of time before the grasp of sanity is clipped away like a loose thread on a homemade snowman sweater and you turn into a blubbering, snotty, incoherent mess for all the world to enjoy. These are the personalities who lost it and may or may not have gained whatever "it" is back.

Hair-Pulling Drama Hits 'The Real Housewives of New Jersey'

by Amy Kuperinsky, posted Dec 4th 2009 4:15PM
Danielle StaubProviding a clue of what's to come in the second season of Bravo's 'The Real Housewives of New Jersey,' star Danielle Staub, the center of much of the drama last season, says another housewife's daughter pulled her (fake) hair out by the (fake) roots.

According to The Record newspaper of Bergen and Passaic counties in NJ, where much of the reality series is filmed, Staub filed a complaint in municipal court in Wayne, NJ, alleging that during a fight at a country club last month, Ashley Holmes, 19, pulled one of Staub's hair extensions out. Holmes is the daughter of Jacqueline Laurita, another housewife on the show who had previously demonstrated a friendship with Staub despite pressure from her husband's family -- including housewife sisters Caroline Manzo and Dina Manzo -- to cut ties with Staub.

Staub -- who arrived in court yesterday with three friends and Bravo cameras -- was the main event last season when it was revealed, via an uncovered old book penned by an ex-boyfriend, that she reportedly had a questionable past, including another name and an arrest on what she said were false charges.
