David Carradine dead at 72
by Bob Sassone, posted Jun 4th 2009 11:45AM
Kung Fu star David Carradine has been found dead in a Bangkok, Thailand hotel. The cause of death hasn't been confirmed yet. First reports said that there was no cause of death, then his manager said it was natural causes, and now some news outlets are saying he committed suicide by hanging. I'm sure we'll find out more news later today.
Besides his run on Kung Fu, Carradine made a ton of movies, including the Kill Bill films, Crank: High Voltage, Death Race 2000, Mean Streets, Bound For Glory, The Long Riders, Grey Lady Down and many others. He was also in many TV shows over the years, including Alias, Night Gallery, Ironside, Gunsmoke, Medium, and King of the Hill. He also has a role as Gideon in FOX's summer series Mental.
Carradine was in Thailand to film a new movie.
YouTube faces a new round of lawsuits
by Brad Linder, posted May 5th 2007 10:13AM
Viacom was just the beginning. Sure, the parent company of MTV and Comedy Central sued the bejesus out of YouTube for $1 billion in copyright infringement. But did you really think other entities would stay out of the action? The Football Association Premier League is threatening legal action, as is the country of Thailand.
The Premiere League is ticked off at YouTube for the usual copyright infringing stuff. They say the video-sharing site is violating the league's distribution rights of soccer matches, and have set up a website to encourage other copyright holders to join their suit against YouTube's parent company Google.
As for Thailand, they're upset about video clips that made fun of the country's king. Thailand banned access to YouTube, and the site eventually agreed to block pages with the offensive videos from Thai users. While it seemed like that would be the end of the story, a Thai official now says the country plans to file a suit against Google.
Maybe this wasn't the best time for Google to start paying independent video producers. They might need to save the money.
The Daily Show: March 1, 2007

Rob Corddry recently appeared on FOX News to promote his new show, The Winner. He ended his interview with "This crawl is chafing my nipples!" Aww. I really love Rob Corddry, and that's why I'm so disappointed that The Winner is a load of crap. I started watching a few episodes online and I couldn't make it through the first ten minutes of any of them. Sad."Ebony and Irony": The Whistlin' Dixie was all right. Reverend Al Sharpton was a good sport for agreeing to come on The Daily Show. This must have been such a crazy subject to talk about. I think both the Reverend and Jon handled it very well.

The man television writers call the devil, Mark Burnett, has yet another show up his sleeve. Mr. Reality is taking The Contender worldwide.Instead of boxing, the international edition of The Contender will feature Thai boxing. Yes, martial arts fans, it's The Contender Muay Thai. You're going to have to wait for it to show up on YouTube though. The show will only air in Asia, Europe and Latin America.
Tsunami survivors uncomfortable with mini-series
by Anna Johns, posted Jun 5th 2006 10:14AM
Survivors of the 2004 tsunami that killed more than 216,000 people in 12 countries are uncomfortable with the mini-series being filmed about the disaster by HBO and BBC. Filming began last month in Phuket and Khao Lak, two places among the hardest hit in Thailand. People are particularly unhappy with the casting calls for actors to play corpses. Reportedly, some of the fliers had pictures of a tsunami and, on the bottom, said 'Victims Needed'. Understandably, living victims find it completely insensitive. HBO and BBC insist the mini-series is meant to be educational and to bring to light some serious issues that have arisen since the December 2004 disaster. The film includes actors Tim Roth, Sophie Okonedo, and Toni Collette. It will air on HBO and BBC2 later this year. The Amazing Race 9: I Think This Monkey Likes Me!
by Deidre Woollard, posted May 11th 2006 1:56AM
(S09E11) This week's penultimate episode has the sole purpose of eliminating one last team from the race so they try to make it interesting with stunt eating and monkeys and a couple of rather tepid challenges. With one million dollars on the line and only four teams left, it seemed like a strange time to bring out challenges like fruit arranging and Buddha painting. What's left for the finale, the great knitting challenge? As we begin, this time the Hippies not only need money, they need clothes. Yolanda donates purple pants and Eric and Jeremy throw in a couple of sandals. BJ and Tyler are really excellent beggars. If they don't win the million they could have quite a brisk panhandling career.
Finally, an eating challenge comes in the form of a fast forward. The first team to eat a bunch of deep fried crickets earns the prize. Ray and Yolanda and BJ and Tyler sit down to a meal of crickets. It takes one cricket for Yolanda and Ray to ditch the crickets.
Eric and Jeremy are enthralled by the monkeys of Thailand, partially because the life of a monkey involves lazing around and scratching fleas, pretty much their dream gig. The roadblock involves preparing a feast for the monkeys, which Eric and Jeremy are happy to do. It's pretty cute watching the monkeys sneak away with the food as fast as the teams can put it on the table. It's not so cute watching the predictably petulant Monica sulk on the sidelines when she and Joseph arrive late.
