'The Big Bang Theory': Leonard Stands Up to His High School Bully (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Dec 9th 2011 12:30AM
'The Big Bang Theory' - 'The Speckerman Recurrence'This week's episode of 'The Big Bang Theory' (Thu., 8PM ET on CBS) kept the boys and girls completely separate throughout, as if the writers are testing to see if the trio of Bernadette, Penny and Amy can sustain their own plots. Spin-off brewing maybe?

While the women were busy talking about who was bullied and who was a bully -- one guess which was which -- Leonard found himself faced with one of his high school tormentors. It turned out that Jimmy Speckerman wanted a nerd to flesh out a rather simplistic idea he had so they could make a fortune, but Leonard was more interested in facing his fears and forcing an apology.

Sheldon Crashes Amy's Date With Stuart on 'The Big Bang Theory' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Nov 18th 2011 1:00AM
'The Big Bang Theory' - 'The Flaming Spittoon Acquisition'While it's unlikely there's any real danger of a 'Moonlighting' situation with Sheldon and Amy on 'The Big Bang Theory' (Thu., 8PM ET on CBS), they nevertheless moved their relationship forward by the tiniest increment. It has been a year after all, so why not?

Because they weren't really anything official, Amy was receptive to Stuart asking her out on a date. Sheldon found himself consumed with anxiety and jealousy and finally decided that he had to act fast. So he crashed their date.

Sheldon's Machine to Scare Away a Bird Backfires Destructively on 'Big Bang' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Nov 11th 2011 12:30AM
'The Big Bang Theory' - 'The Ornithophobia Diffusion'Sheldon Cooper was crippled by the presence of a bird he described as a bluejay, but our non-expert eyes thought it clearly looked like something at least a bit more exotic than that. Nevertheless, the bird tormented him through the window on 'The Big Bang Theory' (Thu., 8PM ET on CBS), until he rigged a machine to scare it off with soundwaves.

Unfortunately, the machine proved far more effective in cracking all of the glass in the boys' windows, while the bird was completely unperturbed. But while the bird was as calm as a cucumber, Leonard and Penny put their friendship to the test, and nearly something more.

Amy and Sheldon Negotiate Their Level of Intimacy on 'Big Bang Theory' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Nov 4th 2011 1:00AM
'The Big Bang Theory' - 'The Isolation Permutation'Amy Farrah Fowler is definitely more in touch with her humanity than Sheldon on 'The Big Bang Theory' (Thu., 8PM ET on CBS), but that's not to say she still doesn't have a long way to go. Particularly, she needs to learn a little something about boundaries when it comes to her infatuation with Penny.

We think that she'll drag Sheldon kicking and screaming at least a part of the way with her on this journey, as evidenced by his willingness to negotiate a level of intimacy with her when she was having a rough time, emotionally.

Sheldon Claims to Be Too Smart to Scare on 'The Big Bang Theory' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Oct 28th 2011 1:00AM
'The Big Bang Theory' - 'The Good Guy Fluctuation'While Leonard was struggling, and losing, in his love life, Sheldon was struggling to win the great Halloween Prank War of 2011 on 'The Big Bang Theory' (Thu., 8PM ET on CBS). Leonard, Howard and Raj started it with an elaborate prank in the halls that didn't scare Sheldon at all; only startling him a bit with a flying skeleton.

But it was all a misdirection to a simple stunt of having Leonard stand behind him with a mask on. That one dropped Sheldon to the ground, and then they kept getting the upper hand on him throughout the episode.

Sheldon Finally Gets His Mother to Himself on 'The Big Bang Theory' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Oct 21st 2011 1:00AM
'The Big Bang Theory' - 'The Rhinitis Revelation'Sheldon Cooper is unlikely to ever change, but the Mary Cooper that appeared on this week's installment of 'The Big Bang Theory' (Thu., 8PM ET on CBS) seemed even sweeter and open-minded than we've seen in the past.

She had an opportunity to pass judgment on Penny for her skimpy clothing, and instead virtually encouraged it for this stage of Penny's life. In fact, she seemed to enjoy the company of all of Sheldon's friends, much to his chagrin.

So it's no surprise that he tried to hoard her to himself when he started getting sick toward the end of the episode.

Sheldon Makes a New Enemy, Wil Wheaton and Brent Spiner on 'Big Bang' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Oct 14th 2011 2:00AM
'The Big Bang Theory' - 'The Russian Rocket Reaction'Every time Wil Wheaton makes an appearance on 'The Big Bang Theory' (Thu., 8PM ET on CBS), it's been a blast. He seems to have embraced the notion of him being Sheldon's mortal enemy, which actually made this week's episode almost strange.

First, he invited Sheldon and Leonard to his place for a party, where we kept waiting for him to dig into Sheldon in some way. But maybe we've misunderstood him all this time. He's crazy-competitive in bowling, but he doesn't have anything personally against Sheldon.

He even fulfilled the broken promise that sparked Sheldon's anger all those years ago by giving him a signed Wesley Crusher figure in the packaging. It was a genuinely nice moment. But what's 'Big Bang' without a 'Star Trek' nemesis for Sheldon? Enter Brent Spiner.

Raj Goes On a Date Without Having to Drink on 'Big Bang Theory' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Oct 7th 2011 2:00AM
'The Big Bang Theory' - 'The Wiggly Finger Catalyst'The women of 'The Big Bang Theory' (Thu., 8PM ET on CBS) cracked the code of how to get Raj to talk to women without being drunk. They set him up with a deaf girl, played by Katie Leclerc ('Switched at Birth'). To facilitate communication, Howard joined them on their first date.

There, Raj was probably happy that Emily couldn't hear his attempts at flirting and boasting, as he couldn't have possibly sounded more ridiculous. Luckily, Howard toned it down a lot for him in translation. Unfortunately, Emily turned out to be a less than desirable girlfriend.

Kaley Cuoco Almost Wasn't on 'The Big Bang Theory' (VIDEO)

by Alex Moaba, posted Oct 4th 2011 7:30PM
'The Big Bang Theory' star Kaley Cuoco seemed pretty comfortable on 'Live With Regis and Kelly' (weekdays, syndicated on ABC), possibly because she co-starred with Kelly Ripa on the sitcom '8 Simple Rules.' After a brief bit of reminiscing, Cuoco talked about the important role that family plays in her life, and revealed that she almost didn't get the part of Penny on 'Big Bang.'

Regis asked Cuoco about her family, and her dad, who she recently took as her date to the Emmys. As it turns out, he's never missed a taping of any of the three sitcoms she's been on. "It's just the cutest thing ever," she said. Her family lives close by, and while she used to go to her folks' place for family dinners, they're now coming to her "dream house" instead. "I order in ... I don't cook anything," she joked.

'Big Bang Theory': Is Bernadette Turning Into Howard's Mother? (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Sep 30th 2011 1:30AM
'The Big Bang Theory' - 'The Pulled Groin Extrapolation'The old adage that men marry women who are like their mother didn't seem to be true on 'The Big Bang Theory' (Thu., 8PM ET on CBS). And yet, when he suggested that Bernadette spend the weekend with him as a trial run for possibly living there permanently after they get married -- Run, Bernadette! Run! -- the transformation took just one night.

At first, Bernadette was understandably freaked out by Howard's relationship with his mother, but by the next morning she was yelling across the house like an old pro. Howard seemed at parts delighted by their connection, and a little disturbed.

Sheldon Loves, Then Hates, Penny's New Chair on 'Big Bang Theory' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Sep 23rd 2011 3:00AM
'The Big Bang Theory' - 'The Infestation Hypothesis'Trying to escape Leonard video-chatting with Priya, Sheldon made his way over to Penny's. There we experienced something that blew our minds on 'The Big Bang Theory' (Thu., 8PM ET on CBS) season premiere. He liked a chair he was sitting in.

We also loved the pretend married couple schtick the two of them carried on through this scene, as Sheldon first liked the chair, and then completely freaked out when he found out she'd picked it up from the trash.

Of course, later, when the chair turned out to have something living inside it, which bit Amy, maybe Sheldon's overreaction was a bit more warranted.

We can't help but desperately hope that the chair is sitting in Leonard and Sheldon's apartment at the start of the next episode -- Raj and Howard picked it up out of the trash where Penny had left it.
