'The Celebrity Apprentice' Season 4, Episode 7 Recap

by Katy Kroll, posted Apr 18th 2011 5:45AM
['The Celebrity Apprentice' - 'Raising the Steaks']

Last week, two players went into 'The Celebrity Apprentice' boardroom and only one came out -- the wrong one.

Donald Trump's firing of Mark McGrath over Gary Busey left the men's team reeling over the fact they'd have to work with the wild card actor once again.

When Gary emerged victorious from the boardroom, his teammates looked defeated. The women, on the other hand, were ecstatic because they saw the strife creating an easy win for them. And they were right ...

'The Celebrity Apprentice' Season 4, Episode 6 Recap

by Katy Kroll, posted Apr 11th 2011 2:00AM
['The Celebrity Apprentice' - 'Australian Gold']

Things are heating up on Donald Trump's 'The Celebrity Apprentice,' especially since the women's team has mostly dropped its dead weight. This week, the men's and women's teams each had five players, making it the most level playing field in weeks.

In the last task, the men were completely blindsided when the women bulldozed right over them by raising $1 million selling artwork, crushing their seemingly impressive half-million-dollar payday -- and they lost not one but two players when baseballer José Canseco dropped out and reality star Richard Hatch was fired.

Donald Trump Says 'Celebrity Apprentice' Prevents Him From Declaring Presidential RunOn 'Today' (weekdays, 7AM ET on NBC), Donald Trump of 'Celebrity Apprentice' said the reality show is preventing him from declaring his candidacy for President in 2012. Any such plans, he said, will have to wait until after the show concludes.

"You're not allowed to have a show on and be a declared candidate," said Trump. "Until that show is over, I can't declare because, otherwise, NBC would have to take that show off the air and I think that would be very unfair to NBC."

Six Shows That Don't Match the Cable Channels They're On

by Joel Keller, posted Mar 26th 2011 10:00AM
Pawn Stars on Lifetime?Over the last week, I've been talking about the concept of channel drift, when a channel strays away from its original reason for being.

In a way, almost every cable channel has drifted in format. HBO only showed uncut theatrical movies at one time; now they're more known for original series than they are for the uncut movies. One of the by-products of channel drift is that you can identify shows that make you scratch your head as to why they're on a particular network.

These could be shows that have held on for dear life as the channel it was on changed formats, or it could be a show that a channel wanted to test out in order to expand its audience. In a few cases, corporate synergy made for strange bedfellows, allowing channels to rerun shows from corporate cousins that don't seem to fit.

In all of these cases, their presence on their particular channels make a person scratch their heads. But in a lot of cases, they're not going anywhere.

The 'Celebrity Apprentice' Premiere Was a Ball of Crazy ... and Things Are Just Going to Get Crazier

by Joel Keller, posted Mar 7th 2011 2:30PM
If Donald Trump and Mark Burnett's aim in putting together the fourth 'Celebrity Apprentice' cast was to up the show's profile, then they've done a great job of it.

The cast is such a big ball of crazy that NBC's promos -- and Trump himself in interviews -- have been promoting that fact, emphasizing the screaming matches with Patsy Cline's classic song 'Crazy' as the soundtrack.

But from the first minute of the premiere, the nuttiness factor was amped up a few notches, and not just because Gary Busey talked in a language only Charlie Sheen could understand. By the end of the first task, the entire men's team -- Backbone -- already hated Richard Hatch, who was the project manager. And on the women's side, Lisa Rinna was already at odds with Star Jones, who was the project manager for the team, who called themselves ASAP.

As screwy as things got in the first week, things are only going to get worse, and there are a few glaring clues that this is going to be a heck of a ride:

'The Apprentice' Season 10 Finale -- The Winner Is Revealed As we all know, each episode of 'The Apprentice' ends with the dreaded words "You're fired!" from Donald Trump. But once every season, we get to mix it up, as the most promising candidate is actually ... hired.

Tonight's finale (Thu., 8PM ET on NBC) came down to a choice between Brandy Kuentzel and Clint Robertson, the two survivors out of the sixteen original contestants. Clint and Brandy sat nervously in the wood-paneled boardroom, as "The Donald" glared down at them from his high-backed chair. The pair made their final pitches, and then Trump made his final pronouncement.

And the winner of 'The Apprentice' Season 10 was --

Holly Robinson Peete Blames 'Apprentice' Editing, 'Loves' Cyndi Lauper (VIDEO)

by Aimee Deeken, posted Jul 22nd 2010 7:00AM
Holly Robinson Peete on 'Lopez Tonight'Holly Robinson Peete admits she wasn't "Miss Congeniality" on 'The Celebrity Apprentice,' as evidenced by the conflict between her and Cyndi Lauper. But she loves and admires her former cast-mate.

The runner-up explains on 'Lopez Tonight' (weeknights, 11PM ET on TBS) that the show is "a lot harder than it looks on TV. You have a very small window of time to complete these tasks. They put you with people who get on your last nerve."

Speaking of which, she says, "There's a little learning curve with reality [TV] ... Sometimes the editor is the writer. If you give them eye rolls and neck twists, they will cut to it. But I love Cyndi ... I really do respect her." The actress then went on to compare Lauper to Sly Stone, Peete's favorite musical icon.

Reality Check: Both Holly and Bret Won 'The Celebrity Apprentice'

by Joel Keller, posted May 24th 2010 1:09PM
Holly Robinson Peete, Bret Michaels and Donald Trump in the finale of 'The Celebrity Apprentice'After a pretty interesting season, the finale of 'The Celebrity Apprentice' took a left turn when Bret Michaels' health problems began. Think about it for a second: When Michaels and Holly Robinson Peete were executing their finale tasks sometime last fall, neither of them thought they'd be sitting at the live finale talking about anything but how they did in the finale and defending the moves they made.

But, months later, all anyone could think of and talk about was Michaels and how miraculous -- and risky -- it was for him to be sitting across the table from Donald Trump last night, just over a month since suffering a brain hemorrhage and less than a week after suffering a mini-stroke. Indeed, seeing him shuffle to the boardroom table, the hospital visits having taken a toll on his weight and strength, was a pretty inspiring sight.

The Unlikely Comeback of Bret Michaels

Getting sick just might have been the best career move Bret Michaels made since signing up for VH1's 'Rock of Love.'

Sorry if that sounds ghoulish. News organizations everywhere were in a full-tilt Bret Michaels death watch mode during the weekend of April 22. Michaels was rushed into a hospital with a massive subarachnoid hemorrhage in critical condition.

Folks, it was bad, especially coming after the news of the previous week when Michaels had an emergency appendectomy performed on him.
