Jerry Seinfeld Slaps Jon Stewart to Stop Him Telling Marcus Bachmann Jokes (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Jul 14th 2011 4:39AM
Jerry Seinfeld, 'The Daily Show with Jon Stewart'Just like Republican presidential candidate Michele Bachmann's husband, Dr. Marcus Bachmann, reportedly used therapy to encourage gay people to go straight, Jerry Seinfeld came on 'The Daily Show' (Weeknights, 11PM ET on Comedy Central) to use therapy to help Jon Stewart not crack jokes at Bachmann's more effeminate traits.

And he used the most abrupt and startling therapy methods known to modern medicine ... and barbaric medicine as well. He slapped sense into Stewart when he couldn't control his urges to crack jokes about Bachmann's dance moves or his speaking voice.

Kid Rock Outed as 'Nerd Rock,' Sheryl Crow's On-Tour Antics on 'Daily Show' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Jul 13th 2011 3:19AM
Kid Rock, 'The Daily Show with Jon Stewart'Kid Rock's hard-rock reputation took quite the beating on 'The Daily Show' (Weeknights, 11PM ET on Comedy Central). So, in order to make up for it, he threw his tour-mate Sheryl Crow under the bus a little bit.

Jon Stewart started the trouble by declaring Rock "a professional."

"Man, don't blow my street cred," Rock laughed. They talked about how easy it was to coordinate Rock's involvement in Stewart's recent rally, but then Stewart dug that knife a little deeper.

"He would call me and be like, 'Uh, you're gonna need to put this on a DX format with a 550,'" Stewart said. "You're not Kid Rock, you're Nerd Rock."

'The Daily Show' vs. 'The Tonight Show' Ratings Battle

by PopEater Staff, posted Jul 4th 2011 7:30AM
Is Jon Stewart now more popular than Jay Leno? It seems that the latest battle in the late night ratings wars sees 'The Tonight Show' up against 'The Daily Show,' as a surprise ratings report has NBC and Comedy Central clashing over who's on top.

For the first time 'The Daily Show With Jon Stewart' has bested Leno's 'Tonight Show' in a key segment of viewers. However, NBC execs, ever stubborn when it comes to defending Leno, aren't taking the news lying down.

According to EW.com, while Leno's 'Tonight Show' viewership still tops the ratings in overall viewers, as it has for years, Comedy Central is celebrating the fact that during the most recent quarter, Stewart drew a few thousand more people than Leno in the crucial "Adults 18-49" demographic.

Jon Stewart Can't Believe Violent Video Game Supreme Court Ruling (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Jul 1st 2011 4:42AM
'The Daily Show with Jon Stewart'Jon Stewart was absolutely stunned on 'The Daily Show' (Weeknights, 11PM ET on Comedy Central) after the Supreme Court ruling struck down a California law that would fine retailers for selling violent video games to minors. But the wrinkle to the ruling adds to the ongoing debate between sex and violence in this country.

It was this additional quote that left him perhaps the most confused. "Government might be able to restrict sexual materials, but not violent and other materials."

Stewart then proceeded to warn his audience to vacate the room if they're squeamish as he played a clip from 'Mortal Kombat 2011' of a woman literally being torn in half. This is the kind of game protected under this law.

Tom Hanks Declares Kevin Bacon the Best Smelling Actor (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Jun 30th 2011 3:13AM
Tom Hanks, 'The Daily Show with Jon Stewart'When you talk to celebrities multiple times as the host of your own late night show, sometimes it's fun to just ask the most inane questions you can think of. Craig Ferguson has built a whole show around it.

But it was Jon Stewart on 'The Daily Show' (Weeknights, 11PM ET on Comedy Central) who asked Tom Hanks the following question.

"In your experience, and I think this is very important, the best smelling actor that you've worked with?"

It was Hanks' own fault for saying that Julia Roberts smelled great in their current project, 'Larry Crowne.' But it wasn't Roberts he declared the best smelling.

Louis C.K. Can't Wait to Be Fat and Gross After He's 'Driven Everyone Away' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Jun 29th 2011 9:30AM
Louis C.K., 'The Daily Show with Jon Stewart'Louis C.K. was on fire when he appeared on 'The Daily Show' (Weeknights, 11PM ET on Comedy Central). It was all Jon Stewart could do to get two words in edgewise, he was so busy laughing at C.K.'s gut-wrenching hilarity. It was as if C.K. had prepared a few minutes of his best material and just decided to treat Stewart's audience to a killer set.

In response to a clip Stewart showed from 'Louie,' C.K. opened by talking about how his physique is actually as good as he can get it, because he still has people in his life and he's on TV. So he still cares a little.

"When I've driven everyone away and I'm not on TV anymore," C.K. said, "I'm gonna be -- and I'm excited for it -- that guy with the second belly, the crotch belly."

Jon Stewart Says Fox News Told the Truth, and Then Took it Back (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Jun 28th 2011 5:11AM
Jon Stewart, 'The Daily Show with Jon Stewart'We have a feeling that this little television "conversation" between Jon Stewart and Chris Wallace isn't going to end any time soon. Unless Wallace just backs down and stops talking about it altogether. It seems every time Wallace goes to defend himself, 'The Daily Show' (Weeknights, 11PM ET on Comedy Central) is ready to volley the ball right back into their court.

When Jon Stewart was on Wallace' show a few weeks, the host said: "I think we're the counterpoint [of NBC News]. I think that they have a liberal agenda and I think we tell the other side of the story."

Stewart jumped on that "other side" statement as an admission, by Wallace, of a conservative agenda, but Wallace has rebutted that by clarifying his intention.

Cameron Diaz Removes Jon Stewart's Stitches on 'The Daily Show' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Jun 22nd 2011 6:05AM
Cameron Diaz, 'The Daily Show with Jon Stewart'Hopefully Cameron Diaz scrubbed up before her appearance on 'The Daily Show' (Weeknights, 11PM ET on Comedy Central). She may not have known about it before she showed up on set, but Jon Stewart was looking for Dr. Diaz this day.

See, it was time to get those pesky stitches out from when he slashed his wrist open mocking Anthony Wiener's press conference. Who needs doctors when you have celebrities? And Diaz was pretty excited about the task as well.

"My mouth is salivating," she told Stewart. "I'm frothing at the mouth, I'm so excited."

The procedure wound up taking up her entire segment, but she did manage to squeeze a few words in about her new film, 'Bad Teacher.' And now she's ready for the sequel, 'Bad Doctor.'

Looking at the Smoking Ban in NYC Parks on 'The Daily Show' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Jun 21st 2011 3:31AM
Samantha Bee, 'The Daily Show with Jon Stewart'Samantha Bee, a correspondent for 'The Daily Show' (Weeknights, 11PM ET on Comedy Central) went on the streets to talk about the passing of legislation in New York banning cigarette smoking from public parks.

We don't know how she did it, but she found the most amazing section of a public park we've ever seen to illustrate her point. Surrounded by tweaked-out drug addicts, alcoholics and homeless people, she talked to one woman who said the law was to ensure parks were "a place where people could go to relax and to have fun."

We particularly loved the bit, though, when Bee found out that not only can you not light up a cigarette in this park filled with such colorful members of society, but you can't go on the grass either. So this park is apparently just for looking at from behind the ropes and chains, like a grass-and-tree zoo.

Trey Parker and Matt Stone Talk Tony Wins and Broadway, on 'The Daily Show' (VIDEO)

by Catherine Lawson, posted Jun 16th 2011 7:50AM
Trey Parker'South Park' creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone are no strangers to controversy, having offended just about everyone by now. But now that they're more mature in years, are they in danger of becoming the kind of Establishment figures that they used to mock so mercilessly?

The pair have written a Broadway musical, 'The Book of Mormon,' which has not only been well received by critics, it also picked up nine Tony Awards.

You'd think this would make the Broadway newbies targets of venom in the famously bitchy, backstabbing world of musical theater, but as they told Jon Stewart on 'The Daily Show' (Weeknights, 11PM ET on Comedy Central), nothing could be further from the truth.

They say that the Broadway community welcomed them with open arms and has been nothing but lovely to them.

Which is more than can be said for their assessment of a rival show. Stone told Stewart about how when they were prepping 'Book' for the stage all everyone else was talking about was 'Spider-Man,' "but that was before anyone had seen what a train wreck it was." Oh, me-ow.

Jon Stewart Wants J.J. Abrams' Wife, on 'The Daily Show' (VIDEO)

by Catherine Lawson, posted Jun 15th 2011 9:33AM
J.J. AbramsJ.J. Abrams stopped by 'The Daily Show' (Weeknights, 11PM ET on Comedy Central) to talk about his new movie, 'Super 8.'

He and host Jon Stewart were discussing the trials and tribulations of working in Hollywood, and Abrams said that the weirdest thing about making a movie is that during the post-production process he's with "like, eight people ... all working together for months, in this cave."

After that isolated working experience Abrams then finds it hard to adjust when the movie's been released and total strangers try to talk to him about it. Ever the pragmatist, Stewart has a solution to the problem: Don't work in a cave. "I don't know how things work out there, but how about a grotto?"

Abrams then raised another problem with working in Hollywood -- shallowness. Luckily for him, he's married to a fantastic woman who tells it like it is, so he knows he can trust her.

Jon Stewart Marvels at the Creative Editing in Sarah Palin's Vacation Video (VIDEO)

by Catherine Lawson, posted Jun 14th 2011 7:50AM
Sarah Palin Vacation VideoSarah Palin described her hugely publicized One Nation bus tour of the northeast as a "family vacation," not a campaign trail, so it seems logical that she's made a video of her vacation as a souvenir. Unlike most family vacation videos, however, this one's publicly available, and Jon Stewart has watched it.

After Palin seemed a bit confused about Paul Revere and his role in the American Revolution, her supporters were accused of trying to rewrite history to back up her theories. Now 'The Daily Show' (Weeknights, 11PM ET on Comedy Central) host wonders if they've also been indulging in some creative video editing.

Talking about what he called "the propagand-ie" video, Stewart was astonished by the way that the video's editors had managed to put together a collection of soundbites from reporters "while smoothly editing out any signs of their bewilderment or contempt. ... I guarantee you there's an editing floor littered with phrases like 'for some reason' and 'why?'"

After playing a clip in which reporters sound like they're finishing each other's sentences, Stewart wracked his brains trying to remember where he'd come across that technique before.

Jon Stewart Says Herman Cain Does Not Like to Read (VIDEO)

by Catherine Lawson, posted Jun 10th 2011 8:45AM
New Herman Cain slogan?Herman Cain, successful businessman and candidate for the Republican Presidential nomination, has an interesting suggestion for speeding up the legislative process: "Small bills." In his opinion, only bills of three pages or less should be allowed.

'The Daily Show' (Weeknights, 11PM ET on Comedy Central) host Jon Stewart took this to mean that Cain is anti-reading. Having chastised him for offering "real solutions to fictional issues," Stewart played a clip in which Cain advanced his idea for short bills.

Referring to a bill that was allegedly 2,700 pages long, Cain said "You and I didn't have time to read it. We're too busy trying to live." Stewart carried on with the theme, saying that if Cain's elected as President everything will have to be shorter: "Treaties will have to fit on the back of a cereal box ... The State of the Union Address will be delivered in the form of a fortune cookie."

Jon Stewart Can't Believe People Use His Show to Set an Amorous Mood (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Jun 9th 2011 5:18AM
Jon Stewart, 'The Daily Show'Thanks to this ongoing Weiner scandal, Jon Stewart might just make the radical decision to quit doing 'The Daily Show' (Weeknights, 11PM ET on Comedy Central). Now, before you get up in arms, he didn't say anything like that, but if his reaction to learning what it is that some of us are apparently doing during his show is any indication, the man is traumatized to say the least.

RadarOnline.com released hundreds of texts between Rep. Anthony Weiner and a woman from Las Vegas that were very sexual in nature. But one exchange in particular singled out the 'Daily Show/Colbert' hour on Comedy Central.

When the girl suggested they either watch the shows or "have mad, passionate sex," Weiner countered with a compromise.

Jon Stewart Injures Himself on 'Daily Show' Fake Press Conference (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Jun 8th 2011 5:16AM
'The Daily Show with Jon Stewart'A very funny bit got even funnier on 'The Daily Show' (Weeknights, 11PM ET on Comedy Central) when reality invaded fiction. In a send-up of Rep. Anthony Weiner's press-conference about his Twitter photo scandal, Jon Stewart cut himself making a frozen cocktail drink.

Yes, it's a completely absurd scenario, but the result was a somewhat serious cut that certainly was bleeding well. Ever the professional -- or not willing to do it over again -- Stewart muscled through, chastising himself for not being harder on Weiner, and then ultimately resigned from 'The Daily Show.'

When John Oliver came out to announce he was taking over, even he had to acknowledge the injury. "That's a genuine problem," he admitted.
