Julie Chen and Holly Robinson Peete Handle the Showcase Showdown on 'The Price Is Right' (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Apr 6th 2011 6:15PM
Julie Chen and Holly Robinson Peete on 'The Price Is Right''The Price Is Right' (weekdays, syndicated on CBS) got a couple of new spokesmodels today as Julie Chen and Holly Robinson Peete moonlighted from 'The Talk' to introduce the Showcase Showdown. It was a bit of network cross-promotion -- both shows are on CBS.

"Whenever Rodney and I get the chance, we head out for a weekend getaway to someplace romantic," said Peete, referring to her husband, a former NFL quarterback. Peete introduced prizes of a trip to the Napa Valley and an SUV. Chen introduced a shopping spree in New York City, complete with a personal shopping assistant, plus a BMW convertible. They ended together with the traditional "It's all yours if ... the price is right."

Don't get used to Chen and Peete on 'The Price Is Right.' 'The Talk' was renewed earlier this year, and the show is doing well. Then again, it never hurts to have your resume on file somewhere else.

by Jason Hughes, posted Apr 6th 2011 6:59AM
Drew Carey is a man of his word. It was proven on 'Lopez Tonight' (Weeknights, 12AM ET on TBS) when George Lopez reminded him of a bet the two of them made the last time Carey was a guest. To give you an idea of the bet, it was before LeBron James had announced he was leaving Cleveland for Miami.

"I'll bet you $1,000 I think LeBron's staying in Cleveland," Carey said at the time. "And if he leaves, I'll let you come on 'The Price Is Right' and present a Showcase of your choice."

But that was then, and this is now. "Can I present a Showcase?" Lopez asked tonight.

Suddenly he's belting out (in falsetto) Madonna's 'Ray of Light' and, like her, dancing in front of a fast-paced background. "And I feeeeeeel..."

He then utilizes his new energy on 'The Price Is Right.' Everything's going well, until he spins the famous wheel so hard it flies off its axis and plows through the studio audience, leaving crushed attendees in its wake.

Contestant Beats the Rat Race and Takes Home a Classic Car on 'The Price is Right' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Dec 30th 2010 2:18PM
'The Price is Right'One of the great things about 'The Price Is Right' (Weekdays, Syndicated on CBS) is that you never know what you're going to face, or what you're going to be playing for. Sometimes you have to know stuff and other times it's just luck.

Today, Jacqueline faced a trifecta of prizes, capped off by a classic 1955 cherry red Ford Thunderbird. In order to take home all three prizes, she had to pick the top three finishers in the 'Rat Race' challenge.

Jacqueline settled on the middle three of the five mechanical rats. It's a game of blind luck and faith, and apparently Jacqueline had plenty of both.

The Prizes Floor a Contestant on 'The Price Is Right' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Sep 27th 2010 4:12PM
'The Price Is Right'Maybe it was the excitement about host Drew Carey's dramatic weight loss that had this contestant light on her feet. More likely, this contestant on 'The Price Is Right' (Weekdays, syndicated on CBS) was beside herself over the chance to walk away with a brand new car. It's one of the show's most popular prizes.

But why stop there. Carey motioned Gwenda over toward him. "Have a seat," he said. "You're gonna want to stay down." At this, she discovered that she wasn't competing for just one car, but one by one, three new cars were revealed. By the end of the reveals, she could barely talk, much less compete.

A lot of fans already knew that Drew had lost several pounds off his frame, but it's a whole different thing to see it in the 'Price is Right' setting. My first reaction when Drew came out from behind the door at the start of the show was "wow, he looks...odd." That's not a dig at Drew -- he looks great -- but it's just the shock of seeing someone who's looked a certain way for 20 years appear a lot thinner. Took me a moment to get my mind wrapped around it.

Who Should Be The New Announcer on 'The Price is Right'?

by Bob Sassone, posted Jul 25th 2010 12:00PM
Rich FieldsAs Gary told you the other day, Rich Fields has been let go from his position as the announcer on 'The Price is Right.' This is too bad. Fields has done a fine job since taking over the role in 2004, having a good rapport with both Bob Barker and now Drew Carey.

There's a lot of talk about what they're going to do. Fields himself said in a statement on his site that they're going to be auditioning stand-up comics. Alex at BuzzerBlog says that besides former 'Shop 'Til You Drop' host J.D. Roberto announcing an episode this week (the show has started taping new episodes for the fall this week), comics Jeff Davis and Brad Sherwood will try out too.
