EXCLUSIVE: 'Secret Circle' Preview Clip: Something Wicked This Way Comes in 2012

by Laura Prudom, posted Nov 10th 2011 8:00PM
Secret Circle castWhen 'The Secret Circle' began, we all assumed that Cassie Blake (Britt Robertson) was as sweet and wholesome as warm apple pie, but lately, we're starting to have our doubts.

In recent weeks, we've seen her display a disturbing penchant for pyromania -- even burning a would-be witch-killer alive -- and supposedly, it's all because of her absentee father, John Blackwell. Daddy dearest apparently had a bit of a dark side, and now it seems like everyone in Chance Harbor is wondering if Cassie's going to head down a similar path.

Tonight's midseason finale will shed a little more light on Cassie's twisted family tree, but AOL TV has an exclusive preview of the episodes coming up after 'The Secret Circle' returns from winter hiatus on January 5th. Watch out for black magic ...

'Secret Circle' Guest Star Chris Zylka on Chemistry with Cassie, Rivalry with Adam and Being a Witch-Killing Witch

by Laura Prudom, posted Oct 27th 2011 10:30AM
Chris Zylka and Britt RobertsonAs one door closes on 'The Secret Circle,' another door opens, and though Chance Harbor is currently down one hunky blond Armstrong brother, a replacement has already blown into town to fill the void.

Chris Zylka plays Jake, an enigmatic bad boy who outwardly seems to want nothing to do with his dead brother's circle, but whose presence in their lives is far from coincidental. As we discovered at the end of last week's episode, Jake is in cahoots with a ruthless group of witch hunters, and seems determined to exact revenge on the town's witches for the death of his parents. Drama!

Despite his thirst for vengeance, Jake seems undeniably drawn to a member of the circle he's targeting, and when we spoke to Zylka, we couldn't resist asking about his character's connection to the seemingly irresistible Cassie, as well as Jake's tumultuous past with Adam and Phoebe. Hit the jump for more.

Spoilers ahead.

'The Secret Circle' EP Andrew Miller Talks Overwhelming Fan Reaction, Cassie's Father & Nick's Bad Boy Brother

by Laura Prudom, posted Oct 19th 2011 4:15PM
Andrew MillerLast week's shocking episode of 'The Secret Circle' (Thursdays, 9PM ET on The CW) elevated the supernatural drama series to a whole new level, proving that it's not afraid of killing off a beloved character to drive the story forward. Since then, fans have taken to message boards and Twitter to react to Nick's demise -- both positively and negatively (and loudly) -- and their passion has obviously taken the producers by surprise.

Earlier this week, I spoke to executive producer Andrew Miller to gauge his reaction to the outpouring of online opinion -- suffice it to say, he's pleased. During our chat, Miller also touched on the ever-evolving love triangles that populate the show, discussed the arrival of Nick's troublemaking brother Jake (Chris Zylka), and teased a little more about the role Cassie's father will play in the ongoing story.

We also have an exclusive preview clip from this week's episode to whet your appetite for tomorrow night, so hit the jump for the video and our conversation with Miller. Warning: Spoilers ahead.

'The Secret Circle' Cast Talks Character Deaths, New Romance and Truth or Dare

by Laura Prudom, posted Oct 13th 2011 3:30PM
The Secret Circle castOne murky Vancouver evening in early October, a sodden group of out-of-towners stumbled through the densely-knit woods, seeking shelter from a sudden, brutal downpour that had caught them unprepared. The mud was caked up to their knees, the ground was treacherously slick, and the only solid structure in sight was a lake house belonging to a dead man.

Unaware of the building's sinister history, the shivering procession snuck past cameramen, grips, PAs and boom operators to find refuge in the drafty basement, above which an oblivious coven of witches was engrossed in an alcohol-fueled game of Truth or Dare.

Just a typical night on the set of 'The Secret Circle.'

AOL TV (along with an intrepid band of fellow reporters) braved the rain -- both real and man-made -- to talk to the cast of the supernatural drama (which just received a full season pick up) while they shot on location at an atmospheric lakeside property. We grilled them on the show's ever-evolving love triangles, upcoming deaths, and the truth about Cassie's father. Spoilers ahead.

'The Secret Circle' Premiere: Intriguing Mysteries, Cliché Characters (VIDEO)

'The Secret Circle' - 'Pilot'['The Secret Circle' Season 1, Episode 1 - 'Pilot']

When looking for a companion series for 'The Vampire Diaries' on Thursday nights, The CW didn't have to go very far. They simply looked at the bibliography of books by 'VD' book series author L.J. Smith. There they found 'The Secret Circle' (Thu., 9PM ET on The CW), a trilogy of books featuring the same teen romance, only this time with witches.

Britt Robertson was transplanted from the just-cancelled 'Life Unexpected,' taking the lead as Cassie Blake. In typical fashion for these types of young adult stories, she finds herself an orphan at the beginning of the series when her mother dies in a house fire.

Review: 'The Secret Circle' Casts an Efficient Spell

by Maureen Ryan, posted Sep 14th 2011 12:30PM
'The Secret Circle' (9PM Thursday, the CW) does exactly what you expect it to do, yet that efficiency ends up being refreshing rather than maddening.

Slightly refreshing, mind you. 'The Secret Circle' will not redefine your idea of what a supernatural drama can be, what a CW show can be or what a program about witches and warlocks can be. All the pieces laid out here eventually end up in the exact places that you expect them to occupy.

Young woman discovering previously untapped abilities? Check. Dreamy guy to whom she is strangely drawn? Check. Bad girl determined to stir up trouble? Check. Layers of conspiracy and secrets in a small town with a dangerous history? Check. (Don't forget the poppy-yet-emo-ish soundtrack, which is also present and accounted for.)

Yet from its opening scenes, 'The Secret Circle' demonstrates an admirable confidence in its pace and destination, and it also has the excellent Britt Robertson ('Life Unexpected') giving the journey of Cassie Blake an emotional grounding that is likely to make the whole affair satisfying to genre fans and 'Vampire Diaries' devotees.

Photos of The CW's Hottest Guys. You're Welcome.

by Jean Bentley, posted Sep 9th 2011 12:00PM
The Vampire Diaries, 90210, Hart of DixieWhile The CW has made its name producing wonderfully addictive, soapy dramas, the network is also known for the incredible attractiveness of all the PYTs it casts. Think about it: Have you ever seen an un-hot person on that channel? (That's our new PC term for ugly.) The answer is no, you have not.

Therefore, in the interest of journalism -- obviously we do this for you, readers -- we perused the photo galleries on the network's press site to for photo evidence of the aforementioned hypothesis. In other words, we found the drool-worthiest snapshots of The CW's many muscle-bound men and put them in a gallery for us you to enjoy.

It's a hard job, but somebody's gotta do it. Again, you're welcome.
