'Kimmel': Are the Other 'X Factor' Judges Ganging Up on Simon Cowell? (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Dec 13th 2011 3:00AM
'The X Factor' judges, 'Jimmy Kimmel Live'In the past two weeks, Simon Cowell has gone from three to one act on 'The X Factor.' In both instances, it came down to the women on the panel to decide. The first week, they eliminated Drew. This week, Nicole Scherzinger threw it to the public vote and Rachel Crow was out.

"Do you guys feel like you ganged up on Simon's contestants specifically because you wanted to win this competition?" Jimmy Kimmel asked the other three judges on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' (Weeknights, 12AM ET on ABC). All of them, of course, vehemently denied it.

Rachel Crow Reflects on Her Emotional 'X Factor' Elimination (VIDEO)

by Stephanie Opella, posted Dec 9th 2011 6:20PM
After Rachel Crow was eliminated on Thursday night's 'X Factor,' the 13-year-old singer dropped to the floor and sobbed in a dramatic, heart-breaking reality TV moment. After spending a night recovering from the disappointment, Crow put on her game-face for an interview with 'Good Day LA' (weekdays, 9AM PT on Fox). She showed up looking re-juvenated, and flashed the infectious smile that helped keep her in the competition for so long.

Crow reflected on her emotional reaction to getting eliminated. "It wasn't surprise, it was like, 'What am I going to do now?' You know? This was everything."

'The X Factor' Recap: Top 4 Revealed - Who Was Eliminated? (VIDEO)

The X FactorFor one blissful moment around the ten minute mark, I almost fooled myself into thinking that this week's 'X Factor' results show was only a half hour long. Surely, I thought, they couldn't stretch the announcement of the final four over an hour. (Do I even go here?)

Sadly, thanks to musical performances from Lenny Kravitz -- with no probing questions about 'The Hunger Games,' for shame, Steve Jones -- and Mary J. Blige, plus an inane video introducing us to the tireless backstage crew, the producers just about managed to pad the episode. And what a shocking episode it turned out to be.

The act sent home this week was ...

'X Factor' Contestants Explain Their Personal Song Choices (VIDEO)

by Stephanie Opella, posted Dec 8th 2011 7:10PM

Wednesday night's 'X Factor' was something of a let-down after Michael Jackson night, but the Top 5 contestants performed a dance song and got to showcase their personalities with a self-selected song, which they only had 24 hours to prepare for.

'Good Day LA' correspondent Courtney Friel talked to the contestants as they reflected on the evening. Melanie Amaro, who sang Adele's 'Someone Like You' for the dance competition, chose Whitney Houston's 'When You Believe' for her next song. "After practicing this one song for so long, to be able to have to switch it around was a task," she told Frield. Although L.A. Reid called the choice safe, Simon pointed out the ridiculousness of thinking that any Whitney Houston song was safe to perform.

'The X Factor' Recap: The Top 5 Perform Dance and Self-Selected Songs (VIDEO)

Melanie AmaroAfter last week's stunning (and in some quarters, highly divisive) elimination, this week's 'X Factor' performance show felt a little anticlimactic -- especially since we didn't have Blanket Jackson in the front row showing us how not to emote.

The theme was a little vague this week, promising popular songs sung in a dance style (as you can imagine, Josh Krajcik was somewhat perturbed by this development). And, because of a vaguely-explained technical glitch that prevented the contestants from singing Pepsi Challenge songs, we were also treated to tunes of the contestants' choosing, which were all put together in under 24 hours. (It showed.)

Hit the jump for our take on the final five's double performances, and place your bets on who is most likely to go home.

Astro, 'X Factor' Rapper, Pushes Back Against Criticism That He's Arrogant (VIDEO)

by Alex Moaba, posted Dec 7th 2011 2:15PM
Astro emerged as an undeniably talented MC on 'The X Factor', but also took criticism from viewers and judges alike for being immature and arrogant. On Wednesday, he stopped by 'The Wendy Williams Show' (weekdays, syndicated on Fox) where pushed back against the perception that he's too cocky to make it in the music business.

"Basically, where I'm from, Brooklyn New York, every day is a battle," he explained. "Sometimes I display myself wrong to people at home, to the world, and I could have handled situations better, but I don't consider myself arrogant or nothing."

Astro Puts 'X Factor' in the Past, Says He Won't Be Writing Raps About Simon (VIDEO)

by Alex Moaba, posted Dec 6th 2011 1:00PM
Astro may have been eliminated from 'The X Factor' last week, but the 14-year-old rap phenom isn't exactly bummed about it. Tuesday on 'Good Day New York,' (weekdays, syndicated on Fox) Astro insisted that he's put the talent competition in his rear-view mirror, and is now focused on writing his own new music. "I'm just ready to work on some music honestly ... my mind was focused on writing as soon as I was eliminated," he said.

He declined to reflect on his temper-tantrum that went viral after he refused to perform after being put in the Bottom Two. "That's the past ... I'm not even on the show anymore, I don't even find a reason to talk about it. Not to seem like a jerk or anything, but that's the past ... I'm good. I'm on 'Good Day New York' right now because of what happened," he said.

Drew and Astro Reflect on Their 'X Factor' Eliminations (VIDEO)

by Stephanie Opella, posted Dec 2nd 2011 5:30PM
Astro and Drew were eliminated from 'The X Factor' on Thursday night, but before heading home, they stopped by 'Good Day LA' (weekdays, 9AM PT on Fox). Drew, who Simon coached to sit in a chair and deliver a slow version of 'Billy Jean' for Michael Jackson Week, blamed the chair for her elimination, but not her coach. "I think that overall I should have ... said exactly what I wanted if I wanted Simon to understand me," she explained.

As for Astro, he said things will be better for him now that he's off the show. "I had fun," he said, "but now, you know I get to go home and release music, mix tapes daily like I actually want to." When Dorothy Lucy mentioned that he had already had his chance to be upset, Atro replied, "I had my tantrum; I didn't want to do it again."

'The X Factor' Recap: Top 5 Revealed - Who Was Double-Eliminated?

by Laura Prudom, posted Dec 1st 2011 9:10PM
X FactorIt was Michael Jackson week on 'X Factor,' and, for reasons probably known only to Simon Cowell, another excuse for a double elimination.

Thankfully, the poor Jackson clan weren't subjected to the results show as well as the performances (Blanket thanks you, Fox) and we're not about to prevaricate either. The remaining contestants sang 'Man in the Mirror,' with Marcus and Melanie acquitting themselves well while Chris Rene missed more notes than he hit.

Despite Steve Jones' hyperbole, only Melanie turned in a performance really worthy of the artist they were celebrating, meaning that many of the acts should've been in danger of elimination. The two artists who were sent home were ...

'The X Factor' Recap: The Top 7 Perform Michael Jackson Songs (VIDEO)

by Laura Prudom, posted Nov 30th 2011 11:10PM
X Factor judgesCan you feel it, 'X Factor' fans? I'm not so sure that Michael Jackson's kids did -- the poor moppets were trapped front row center as the contestants cycled through some of their father's greatest hits, but it seemed like Blanket was not at all amused by their shenanigans. (Grandma Katherine Jackson, on the other hand, seems to be the series' biggest fan).

Thankfully, now that we've trimmed a few of the extraneous acts -- and thirty minutes of the show's airtime -- I was feeling it, for the most part (except for the part with 'Can You Feel It,' I wasn't feeling that). The M.J. love was infectious, and though some of the acts hit a few sour notes, by the time we reached the end of Melanie's powerhouse performance, it was hard to be grumpy; even L.A. found complimentary things to say this week.

Hit the jump for our verdict on the Top 7, and weigh in with your own reactions in the comments.

The Kardashians Make Barbara Walters' 'Most Fascinating People of 2011'

by Crystal Bell, posted Nov 30th 2011 12:40PM
the kardashians It's that time of the year again. Seasonal snow is on its way and the holiday lights are making their big debut, but most importantly, it's time for Barbara Walters to unveil her annual 10 Most Fascinating People list.

And it looks like the first family of reality TV -- the Kardashians -- made the cut. The 'Keeping Up With the Kardashians' stars Kris Jenner, Kim Kardashian and sisters Kourtney and Khloe all made Walters' list.

After raking in a reported $65 million in 2010, launching a new clothing line for Sears, airing a four-hour wedding special, having one of the most talked about divorce scandals of the year and making headlines on a daily basis, it looks like the Kardashians not only fascinate Walters, but they also fascinate the public.

The Kardashians will have a bit of reality TV company. Music mogul and 'The X Factor' judge Simon Cowell made the list, as well as businessman -- and 'The Apprentice' star -- Donald Trump.

Could 'X Factor' Judges Nicole Scherzinger and Kelly Rowland Swap Shows?

by Laura Prudom, posted Nov 29th 2011 7:20AM
Nicole ScherzingerOn this side of the pond, 'X Factor' judge Nicole Scherzinger has become known for her questionable song choices, rambling critiques and the ability to make every comment she gives to contestants somehow relate to her own career.

Needless to say, there are some viewers who would be glad to see her gone from the judges' table.

According to British tabloid Now, they may soon get their wish, with rumors swirling that Simon Cowell is considering a job switch between Scherzinger and former Destiny's Child member Kelly Rowland. Rowland joined the judging panel on the UK version of the show this season, but audiences have failed to connect with her the way they embraced the exiled Cheryl Cole.

X FactorWhat better way to cap off a week of giving thanks than with a double elimination?

'The X Factor'
found an excellent way to make the hour of filler pass more speedily this week, fitting in performances from Kelly Clarkson and Bruno Mars as well as two "save me" songs and two remarkably drama-free exits.

Without further adieu, the two acts eliminated this week were ...

Stacy Francis and Wendy Williams Bond Over Wigs and Get Emotional (VIDEO)

by Stephanie Opella, posted Nov 23rd 2011 9:00AM
Stacy Francis' chance at a music career took a major blow when Simon Cowell sent her home from 'The X Factor' last week. On Thursday, she came on 'The Wendy Williams Show' (weekdays, syndicated on Fox) show to talk about things, but inevtiable, the conversation was sidetracked by wigs.

Wasting no time, Wendy asked, "So what is this first, before we talk?" Stacy was wearing her side-swoop bangs, and Wendy definitely approved. But that hasn't always been the case: Wendy showed a photo from 'The X-Factor' when Stacy wore a bangs-less wig, showing off her rather large forehead. Stacy explained the choice, saying that she chose the wig because of its color, which was a few shades lighter than normal. "I had to go back to the swoop because people were tearing me up!" she said. "I didn't realize me forehead was that big." And Wendy agreed, responding "Yeah, it's huge."

'The X Factor' Recap: The Top 9 Perform Songs That Give Thanks (VIDEO)

by Laura Prudom, posted Nov 23rd 2011 12:45AM
Josh KrajcikIt seemed as though the 'X Factor' mentors had a far better grasp of this week's nebulous theme of "songs that give thanks" than they did of "rock" or "songs from movies," but were you thankful for the performances?

Paula spent two hours in a perpetual state of teary-eyed incoherence (no change there), Astro was ... vaguely repentant over last week's "incident," and were it not for Paula and Nicole, I think Simon and L.A. would've started a slap-fight over Drew's performance. Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

Hit the jump for our verdict on this week's especially tearful thankful installment, and weigh in on your favorite performances.
