'The Amazing Race' Season Finale -- Who Are the Winners? (VIDEO)

'The Amazing Race' Season Finale -- Who Are the Winners? Well, everything must come to an end. After four continents and 30 different countries, this season of 'The Amazing Race' (Sun., 8PM ET on CBS) came to a halt. To reach the finish line, the teams had to cover over 32,000 miles. (For comparison's sake, circling the entire globe is only a 22,000-mile journey.)

The last three teams consisted of home-shopping hosts Brook and Claire, doctors Nat and Kat, and boyfriend/girlfriend couple Thomas and Jill. For the final episode, the teams left South Korea, and headed to Los Angeles. And our winners were ...

I'm surrounded by ninjas! Want a kiss?['The Amazing Race' - 'I'm Surrounded by Ninjas!']

If the moon is truly in the seventh house and Jupiter is definitely aligned with Mars, if all that is good is right with the world ... then we all know that it's time for Nick and Vicki to leave 'The Amazing Race.' If Vicki could switch out partners at this late date, that would be fine, but Nick must go.

But, this show isn't always that predictable. Reality shows often don't go quite the way the fans want them to go. True, it would take a miracle for Nick and Vicki to overcome both a six-hour penalty and a Speed Bump, but you never know.

Want some cheese with that whine, Nick?['The Amazing Race' - 'I Hate Chinese Food']

It's hard to believe that we're down to the final four on 'The Amazing Race.' While it seems like just a few weeks have gone by, already the teams ousted early are fading in my mind. Two all-female teams are still in contention for the big win and both of them are pretty dang tough, wouldn't you say?

Then there's Nick and Vicki. Despite tough appearances, they're not so tough. Well, at least Nick isn't. On the other hand, even though she lacks a lot of savvy, Vicki is one determined woman. But will it do her any good when she's saddled herself with Nick? Read on.

A double U-turn for the first time on 'The Amazing Race'['The Amazing Race' - 'There's a Lot of Nuts and Bullets']

Every few seasons, 'The Amazing Race' tosses something new into the mix to challenge the teams. Initially, the main obstacles were Detours and Roadblocks. Since then we've had Yields, U-Turns and Speed Bumps, all of which have the sole aim of impeding team progress.

Tonight's introduction of the Double U-Turn, while not entirely a new concept, certainly had an impact on this leg. Using something like this is also very telling about the teams who employ it and who's considered a threat in the race.

An 'Amazing Race' Ends for Which Team? (VIDEO)

Phil Keoghan Announces Last Team on 'Amazing Race'On 'The Amazing Race' (Sun., 8PM ET on CBS), Team Kat/Nat were neck-and-neck with Chad and Stephanie. Nat and Kat reached the U-turn first and naturally chose their direct competitors to do the U-turn, forcing Chad and Stephanie to go back and complete the other Detour task.

[Spoiler alert.]

Once they'd carried 100 bricks in a basket on their heads to a shop owner, the couple -- who became engaged in Oman in last week's episode -- were the last team to arrive at the pit stop in Bangladesh. Their amazing race was over.

"Even though we didn't win the million, I still feel like a very, very rich man. I really did get the greatest prize of all," said Chad. "I'm getting to come out of this engaged to a wonderful, wonderful woman." And don't forget about that free trip honeymoon to Belize.

Rappelling into the ['The Amazing Race 17' - 'Ali Baba in a Suit']

Tonight we boldly went to where no reality show (or just a rare few) has gone before -- the Middle East. For some odd reason I just can't see 'The Real Housewives of New Jersey' filming there. Yet it was a perfect location for a leg of 'The Amazing Race.'

Not only is the countryside simply amazing, but the teams were well-received by the locals. With all of the problems in today's world, this leg was a fresh air journey into the country of Oman as well as a glance at the people who live there.

Chad Proposes to Stephanie on 'The Amazing Race' (VIDEO)

Chad Proposes to Stephanie on 'The Amazing Race'Chad decided about a month ago that girlfriend Stephanie was "the one." With a ring he'd been carrying across the world in 'The Amazing Race' (Sun., 8PM ET on CBS) competition, Chad popped the question in Oman.

"You've come into my life and done so many amazing things and taught me so much. I couldn't see spending my life with anybody else other than you," Chad told her. He knelt down, asked Stephanie to marry him, and she gave a hearty, "I will!"

But that wasn't all their good news. The couple later nabbed first place at the Al Alam Palace pit stop and won a trip to Belize -- honeymoon destination solved!

Clowning around on 'The Amazing Race'['The Amazing Race' - 'I Want to Be in the Circus, That's Where I Belong']

No clowning around here, it's high time to change this show's Sunday night time-slot to another night where it won't constantly be delayed by football! Here on the East Coast the show was delayed by more than an hour. DVRs get confused and writers get antsy.

It could be worse. We could be David Caruso fans.

Tonight's episode of 'The Amazing Race' was perplexing and not just because of the delay. Sure, it was entertaining. Don't get me wrong. It's never not entertaining. Read on for the skinny!

Congratulations On Not Losing 'The Amazing Race' Yet, Nick and Vicki!

Nick and Vicki, 'The Amazing Race'Against all odds -- a fundamental misunderstanding of the rules, the inability to locate Ghana on a map, not realizing the Arctic Circle isn't located in Africa -- Nick and Vicki have managed to stay alive on 'The Amazing Race' for five weeks now.

That truly amazing feat deserves a heartfelt congratulations because, although this is the 17th iteration of the CBS reality series, Nick and Vicki have distinguished themselves as the most clueless team to ever appear.

It's off to the Arctic Circle for the teams!['The Amazing Race' - 'We Should Have Brought Gloves and Butt Pads']

Ice, ice baby. The teams went from the extreme heat of Ghana to the Arctic Circle for this leg. Sure, it's a drastic change of cultures. But they might find themselves wishing for just a bit of heat once again.

They should have realized that you always need to be careful what you wish for. And, on 'The Amazing Race' you're never quite sure where you'll be and what challenges lie ahead. I don't know about "butt pads" but gloves are always a good idea.

'The Amazing Race': Trapped in a Hotel Made Entirely of IceTonight on 'The Amazing Race' (Sun., 8PM ET on CBS), the teams had to travel from the Equator to the Arctic Circle. That's a really long trip! But when they arrived in the arctic, two of the contestants got a very "chilly" reception. (And we won't do any more cold-related puns, we promise.)

The players left Ghana, Africa and headed to the Swedish/Norwegian border. As there are no direct flights from Ghana to the Swedish border, the teams faced a circuitous journey. The obstacles along the way included a sled dog race and a stop at a hotel made entirely of ice.

Uh-oh, a geography quiz on 'The Amazing Race'['The Amazing Race' - 'In Phil We Trust']

OK, teams ... who's ready for a geography quiz? Not just any old quiz, but one on African geography. Any takers? After all, you are on the continent. The very least we'd expect is that you have an inkling about where you might be.

No, don't try to turn this on us. We're not on the show. If we're totally ignorant regarding what country is where on the African continent, the world won't see our epic failure and mock us. For the price of a map, perhaps the kingdom will be lost.

Chaos and Confusion Over Language Puzzle on 'The Amazing Race' (VIDEO)

'The Amazing Race': Language Barrier for Brook and ClaireThe teams on 'The Amazing Race' ( Sun., 8PM ET on CBS) have a language task, translating eight phrases in a poem into Ghanaian symbols. Claire thinks she has a moment of genius, seeing some children holding chalk and playing nearby. "I see there's a group of eight of 'em," says Claire. "I think we have to circle small African children."

As stupid as this is, the other teams follow suit. Then she and Brook spy a wall of symbols. "Oh, maybe the small African children don't have anything to do with this," she admits sheepishly.

At least Thomas knows there's a decoder key provided. But where is it? The teams scurry around the area hunting through kids' homework for the elusive key to the puzzle. It has nothing to do with the children: the translated symbols are emblazoned on a nearby wall just around the corner. Brilliant.

Last week we dipped our toes in to feel how the water was in the latest season of 'The Amazing Race.' It was our first look at the teams and the last glance we'd have of one team. While the new "Express Pass" was introduced, we didn't see the standard Roadblock and Detour.

This week we cannonballed right into the action. We're talking Roadblock, Detour, crazy cabbies and locals galore! The pressure is on the teams. Who will be eliminated next?

'The Amazing Race' Season 17 Teams Announced

by Scott Harris, posted Sep 1st 2010 3:20PM
It's been a week of ups and downs for fans of CBS's long-running hit reality competition 'The Amazing Race.' The down? On Sunday night, the show failed to win the Outstanding Reality Program Emmy for the first time in eight years. The up? Today CBS finally announced the new cast members for the upcoming 17th season.

We have to say that, as per usual with 'The Amazing Race,' the good far outweighs the bad.

Now that the teams are announced, we can begin the speculation. Who will suit up this year for a chance at one million dollars and memories of a lifetime? Will an all-female team finally take first place? Will the token old couple last past the first episode? Are we in store for any more shocking relationship meltdowns on the finish mat this year?
