'The Amazing Race: Unfinished Business' Season 18 Finale Recap

['The Amazing Race' - 'This Is Where It Ends (Brazil and Florida)']Last night was the two-hour finale of 'The Amazing Race: Unfinished Business.' In that span we went from four contestants to one winner, but who would it be? Based on your votes in our poll last week, you gave the edge to the likable Gary & Mallory, followed by Zev & Justin and Flight Time & Big Easy. These three teams were within 100 votes of each other.
Apparently, none of you thought Kisha and Jen stood a chance, giving them barely a third of the votes the other teams got. It doesn't look like the sisters were very popular.

In a two-hour finale spectacular, 'The Amazing Race' (Sun., 8PM ET on CBS) the game took the remaining four teams to Rio do Janeiro and then, ultimately, to Miami where the final three raced for the million-dollar prize. For the most part, these four teams have worked pretty well together this season, so this was the first time we had to see them try to outmaneuver one another and use strategy. It's not really a strong suit for any of them.
In other words, it was kind of a toss-up as to who was going to win 'The Amazing Race' this season. Our poll last week ranked the teams as following: Gary & Mallory in first, followed by Zev & Justin, Flight Time & Big Easy and then Kisha & Jen in a distant last place. Were you right?
Who Will Win 'The Amazing Race: Unfinished Business'? Host Phil Keoghan Weighs In
by Jean Bentley, posted May 6th 2011 3:15PM
The stakes are even higher than normal for the final four teams on this season of 'The Amazing Race.' Considering each pair has competed on the Race once before -- and failed -- they've all had a lot to prove."Who's more motivated to come back and redeem themselves for stupid mistakes, for really bad luck, for penalties at the wrong time, for getting lost, for taking the most untimely pee break in the history of 'The Amazing Race,'" asked host Phil Keoghan when AOL TV chatted with him earlier this week. "Who's been living with that unfinished business, and who would make for an interesting comeback?"
On Sunday night (8PM ET on CBS), a pair of Harlem Globetrotters, two sisters, a father and a daughter and two best friends will cross the finish line of 'The Amazing Race: Unfinished Business' in Miami. AOL TV asked Phil to help handicap the strengths and weaknesses of the remaining teams. After the jump, find out which team Phil says is the one to beat.

['The Amazing Race' - 'Too Many Cooks in the Kitchen (Switzerland)']Next week is the two-hour finale! Of the five remaining teams, I can safely admit that the team I want gone the most right now is Kent and Vyxsin. If I have to listen to one more leg of Kent whining and them fighting, I might go find them wherever they're at right now and show them what it feels like.
In their previous race, I was pretty frustrated with Kisha and Jen as I thought they showed some poor sportsmanship, but they've been much more low-key this time around. The same can be said for the Globetrotters, but maybe those two things are related. There seems to be an obvious attraction there.

['The Amazing Race: Unfinished Business' - 'We're Good American People (Switzerland)']Welcome to the friendliest edition of 'The Amazing Race' yet. With six teams remaining in the competition, everybody decided to hold hands and sing 'Kumbaya' across Lichtenstein. Where's that competitive drive?
It's as if one contestant would say, "I had a hard time with this one. Do you know the answer?"
"Well, we are racing for a million dollars, but why not," they'd get in response "Let me just tell you the answer to save you the trouble."
Really? Only one team got left out of the lovefest throughout this leg of the race, and I'll give you one hint. They've spent a good portion of the last two legs competing completely by themselves.
Zev and Justin Take a Big Risk With a Food Challenge on 'Amazing Race' (VIDEO)

The last time contestants faced a food-based Road Block on 'The Amazing Race' (Sun., 8PM ET on CBS), it proved to be too much for everyone that tried it and they had to switch tasks. Perhaps it was because they were in first place at the point they reached it, but Zev and Justin decided again to tackle one.!!SPOILER ALERT!!
They arrived at the challenge with Kisha and Jen hot on their heels. They had to eat a huge pot of fondue cheese, but the big difference between this and the last food challenge was there was no time limit and because of that Zev was confident they could finish.

['The Amazing Race: Unfinished Business' - 'I Cannot Deal With Your Psycho Behavior (Austria)']After a couple of weeks in India, 'TAR' shifted gears and climates by taking the teams to the snowy streets of Austria. But before they could get there, we had to be introduced to the book-end blatant product placement of the week, which also happened to be the prize for the team who won this leg of the race: a 2012 Ford Focus.
In fact, it was so integrated into the show, Phil Keoghan even gave them one of their clues from within the MyFord Touch System. It seemed like a pretty straightforward clue, but that didn't stop Gary and Mallory from missing the gist of it completely.

['The Amazing Race: Unfinished Business' - 'You Don't Get Paid Unless You Win' (Varanasi, India)]The game kept 'The Amazing Race' teams in India for one more leg, but moved them into a more spiritual realm with the shift in scenery from Kolkata to Varanasi. Along the Ganges River, Varanasi is a city where people live and come for religious and spiritual enlightenment.
It's also just as crowded, if not more so, than Kolkata, which made Zev incredibly uncomfortable. Not a lot is made of Zev's Asberger's Syndrome, but you know it has to have an impact on him in some of these situations. Nevertheless, he never really falters because of it. Mallory helped him out at one point with some earplugs to drown out the crowds.

['The Amazing Race: Unfinished Business' - 'I Feel Like a Monkey in a Circus Parade (Kolkata, India)']Perhaps Ron and Christina felt comfortable in China, but no team ever feels familiar with the hustle and bustle of Kolkata, India. The entire city is always a sensory overload, as well as a population overload, when the teams from 'The Amazing Race' run through it.
The chaos of traffic and people make midtown Manhattan at rush hour look almost rural. If China was a culture shock for the teams, India was going to be a culture explosion. How did the teams fare? Read on.
'Amazing Race': Luke Breaks Down During a Tea-Tasting Challenge (VIDEO)
by Aimee Deeken, posted Mar 28th 2011 6:00AM
On 'The Amazing Race' (Sun, 8PM ET on CBS), the ancient Indian art of tea-tasting provided a severe Roadblock that challenged all the contestants, especially mother-son duo Margie and Luke Adams."It's not too hard. You can finish this," she assured him. "I know how you'll feel if you don't finish ... Please just finish."
With renewed determination, Luke continued. Finally he found the right cup. The poor guy will never want to taste, smell or even glimpse another cup of tea ever again.

['The Amazing Race: Unfinished Business' - 'Don't Ruin the Basketball Game (Kunming, China)']"Wait ... what do dinosaurs have to do with ruining basketball games?" you ask.
Well, if you were running 'The Amazing Race' with a couple of Harlem Globetrotters, it might be to your advantage to have a dinosaur take your place in a quick pick-up game. Right? That's what it was all about tonight -- dinosaurs on the basketball court. Or, I could be leading you all astray. Read on!

It's been a tough leg of 'The Amazing Race: Unfinished Business' (Sun., 8PM ET on CBS) for dating goth couple Kent and Vyxsin. Last week, they missed the only approved flight and then lost their passports. The flight snafu caused them to incur a 30-minute penalty at the next check-in.Luckily, a train proved an equalizer and everyone caught back up. But with that penalty looming over them, the pair knew they had to consider the Double U-Turn coming up. And they had to deal with their bonehead move the last time they raced when they U-Turned a team that was ahead of them, rendering the move pointless.
Kent and Vyxsin Struggle in China, Lose a Critical Item on 'The Amazing Race' (VIDEO)

To be successful on 'The Amazing Race' (Sun., 8PM ET on CBS), we always hear about the importance of hard work, focus and luck. But we never hear enough about the importance of paying attention to the details. That crucial facet of the game seemed to be completely lost on dating Goth couple Kent and Vyxsin from the moment the most recent leg kicked off. They immediately got lost on their way to the airport, missing a crucial flight. From that point on, they were playing catch-up.
They pulled to within one team, Zev and Justin, but another mishap has them on the brink of destruction. Headed to the next point on their trek, the pair realized they were missing their fanny pack after boarding a bus on a winding, narrow road.

['The Amazing Race: Unfinished Business' - 'We Had a Lot of Evil Spirits Apparently (Japan)']What's the absolute best thing about 'The Amazing Race'? Sure, there's the adrenalin rush as the teams race around the world. Yes, there's Phil's infamous eyebrow raise. You can cheer on your favorite teams and jeer at the ones who irk you.
But the best thing about the race is learning odd trivia about other countries as we peek into their cultures and traditions. Yep, now we can add the Frog of Luck into our everyday conversations. Life is good.
A Man Suffers a Heart Attack on the First Flight of 'The Amazing Race: Unfinished Business' (VIDEO)
by Jason Hughes, posted Feb 21st 2011 2:15AM
No matter how hard you prepare for 'The Amazing Race' (Sun., 8PM ET on CBS), you simply can't prepare for the unknown. And nowhere does the unknown seem to rear its ugly head more than when it comes to the myriad flights contestants must take.At the beginning of this season, which features contestants who've raced before but never won, host Phil Keoghan said that second chances don't come easy. A few short hours later on their very first flight, that proved to be even more true than they might have imagined.
After an opening challenge saw eight of the eleven teams secure a position on an earlier flight to Australia -- with a 90-minute lead on the second plane -- the unexpected occurred. A man on the lead plane had a heart attack mid-flight, causing it to make an emergency landing in Honolulu.
