by Chris Harnick, posted Jul 22nd 2010 10:00AM
Aaron Douglas, The BridgeEverybody, it's time to say goodbye to 'The Bridge.' Wait, what do you mean you weren't one of the 2.8 million viewers watching the Canadian import that aired Saturdays on CBS?

Vulture is reporting the low-rated cop drama has gotten the boot from CBS after just three episodes. Its replacement? Repeats of CBS's canceled crime procedural 'Cold Case.'

Aaron Douglas, Chief Tyrol to 'Battlestar Galactica' fans, headlined 'The Bridge,' a series about a police union head cleaning up the corrupt force.

A New Leader on 'The Bridge' (VIDEO)

by Oliver Miller, posted Jul 12th 2010 1:55AM
A New Leader on 'The Bridge'Aaron Douglas stars on the series premiere of 'The Bridge' (Sat., 8PM on CBS). You may remember Douglas as Chief Tyrol of 'Battlestar Galactica' fame.

[Spoiler alert.]

Douglas plays street cop Frank Leo, who becomes angry when he learns there will be no funeral for a fellow officer who he served with. So the cop starts a walkout, and suddenly becomes the new leader of the police union. This puts him in direct conflict with the people in charge.

Anyway, that's all very exciting. But here's a more important question. 'The Bridge' is now approximately the 10,000th cop-based drama that is currently on TV. And it's being buried on Saturday nights.

Will anyone care about the story of Frank Leo? Did you watch the show? Did you find it intriguing enough that you would stick with it over all the other police-drama-based competition?

Aaron Douglas Talks 'The Bridge'

by Chris Jancelewicz, posted Jul 9th 2010 2:30PM
Aaron DouglasLast time we saw Aaron Douglas, he was walking off into the unknown as Chief Tyrol on 'Battlestar Galactica.' We may have thought that the Canadian actor disappeared, but he's been working -- a lot, by the sounds of it -- on 'The Bridge,' where he plays cop-turned-union-leader Frank Leo.

Just in case you haven't seen the promotional ad (which was played mercilessly throughout the 2010 Olympics), 'The Bridge' follows a young, troubled cop who grows more and more disillusioned with the corrupt police force. As he tries to right the wrongs going on around him, Leo becomes enmeshed in the complications of power. Executive-produced by Craig Bromell (who served as president of the Metro Toronto Police Association from 1997-2003), and set on the streets of Toronto, 'The Bridge' is a raw look behind the Blue Curtain.

TV Squad talked with Douglas about what it's like to play a police officer, how it feels to drive a hot car (really fast) and if he misses 'Battlestar' at all.

Getting to Know... Aaron Douglas

by Chris Jancelewicz, posted Mar 12th 2010 4:15PM
Aaron Douglas has gone from relative obscurity to TV fame in a matter of years, a feat that isn't repeated very often by Canadian actors. Starting with 'Battlestar Galactica', Douglas became a household name for nerds and sci-fi fanatics alike. Now he's playing a union leader in 'The Bridge', which isn't too big a stretch, considering he played a union leader on 'BSG' for almost three years.

New life for Spielberg on SciFi

by Anna Johns, posted Jan 13th 2006 1:37PM
Steven Spielberg is once again bringing original programming to the Sci Fi Channel. This time, it's a 12-hour miniseries called Nine Lives. The drama features nine characters who are mourning loved ones, and discover they can reunite with the dead through near-death experiences. Sounds pretty freaky, eh? Sci Fi's deal with Spielberg follows the wildly successful collaboration that spawned the series, Taken, in 2003. Les Bohem, the guy who wrote the Taken series, will also write Nine Lives.

Also picked up by SciFi:

  • Who wants to be a Superhero?, a reality series that follows Stan Lee as he puts contestants through challenges to help them find their super strength;
  • Medium at Large, a reality series that features psychic Char Margolis;
  • The Gift, reality series that follows people in boot camp for intuitives;
  • The Bridge, a comedy-drama about a group of cynical souls trapped in purgatory and the good deeds they must do to get out.
