The Witch Stirs Up a Lot of Trouble for Herself With the Vampires of 'The Gates' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Sep 20th 2010 5:02AM
'The Gates'Throughout this first season of 'The Gates' (Sun., 10PM on ABC), local witch Devon (Chandra West) had been stirring up trouble with just about everyone. Her misdeeds came back to haunt her in the finale, as the vampires decided it was time to do away with her for good.

Dylan (Luke Mably) and Claire Radcliffe (Rhona Mitra) arrived at her house to take care of the situation, but Chief Nick Monahan (Frank Grillo) stayed the execution. "My son is dying. She's the only one who can save him," he pleaded. But it proved only a temporary stay of execution, as the four were surrounded by vampires en route.

Nick and Dylan tried to use reason with the leader of the vampire group that stopped them, arguing that it doesn't have to be this way. Unfortunately, he proves less sympathetic to Nick's plight. "And unfortunately for you," he said to Dylan. It's not just the witch we're after now. You've breached our trust."

'The Gates': Chief Monahan Is Haunted by His Past -- Literally (VIDEO)

by Aimee Deeken, posted Sep 13th 2010 8:35AM
Ghost Haunts Police Chief on 'The Gates'A ghost is haunting the chief of police on 'The Gates' (Sun., 10PM ET on ABC). Nick Monahan killed a man years ago, and now the victim's sister's ghost wants revenge.

Nick discovers (too late) that the ghost has possessed his wife Sarah. When she swiftly kills another cop, Nick almost shoots her -- but he'd be killing his wife in the process. He starts to break down.

"I never stopped thinking about your brother ... It's haunted me ever since I did it," Nick pleads. "He didn't deserve to die -- not by my hand ... I'm sorry I did it. And I'm sorry that he died. I'm sorry you lost your life because of it."

The ghost/Sarah is crying. Nick points the gun at his own head. Does he pull the trigger?

FBI Agent Is a Vampire on 'The Gates'On 'The Gates' (Sun., 10PM ET on ABC), Chief Monohan gets arrested by FBI agent Cat Russo when she finds him trying to tamper with a list of "every vampire Robert Jessops has ever worked with."

However, a fellow officer discovers that apparently Russo's been dead for two years. Something's fishy. The agent returns to confront Monohan -- and bears her fangs as explanation. Turns out, she wants the list: It's revenge.

She was killed in the line of duty, and Jessops turned her into a vampire, against her will. As far as she's concerned, "The sooner the rest of this list is exterminated, the better for everyone."

Will Monohan hand it over?

Vampire Defends His Love with a Creative Killing on 'The Gates' (VIDEO)

by Aimee Deeken, posted Aug 16th 2010 8:55AM
Creative Vampire Murder on 'The Gates'If anyone would know the best way to kill a vampire, it'd be another vampire. Dylan offers a method on 'The Gates' (Sun., 10PM ET on ABC) that is really very simple. No blood, no stakes, no mess: just some ropes.

Fellow vampire Christian confesses his love to Claire. But she rejects him for Dylan. He responds, well, badly ... by attacking her. Sensing that something's happened to Claire, Dylan wakes up and hunts down Christian.

He then ties him to a tree trunk in direct line with the rising sun, and drives off. Add some morning rays to the recipe, and viola. Dead vampire.

Dylan Threatens the Sheriff on 'The Gates' (VIDEO)

by Aimee Deeken, posted Jul 26th 2010 8:30AM
Dylan Threatens Nick on 'The Gates'On 'The Gates' (Sun., 10PM ET on ABC), Sheriff Nick Monohan returns to the scene of the crime that he witnessed: The night of the father-daughter dance, Dylan turned into a vampire and killed Teresa -- just as she was about to shoot Nick.

As Nick is about to leave, Dylan breaks his car window, pulls him out and pushes him against the police car. "Why are you even here? What are you looking for?" asks Dylan. Nick says, "I wanted to make sure you didn't leave anything behind."

Dylan's anger turns him dangerously close to full-on vampire mode; but he restrains himself. "What more do I have to do to convince you this is taken care of? ... I want this investigation to end now," says Dylan. And instead of killing him, he merely throws Nick against the vehicle, threatens him and disappears.

But someone else -- who isn't on the police force -- has the whole crime on tape.

It's a Vampire Weekend for Nick on 'The Gates' (VIDEO)

by Aimee Deeken, posted Jul 19th 2010 4:30AM
Sheriff Gets Vampire Introduction on 'The Gates'On 'The Gates' (Sun., 10PM ET on ABC), Teresa corners Sheriff Nick Monohan outside a father/daughter dance and pulls a gun. Turns out her name's not really Teresa, and Nick "murdered" her brother years ago. Time for some revenge.

Just as she's about to pull the trigger, and then go after his family, she's whisked away by Dylan. He pulls her to the ground, attacks her neck, and her screams come to an abrupt halt. Then he stands up with blood dripping from his mouth.

Nick's gun is (pointlessly) aimed at Dylan. "Nick, we don't have time for this," says Dylan. "Emily and Dana -- they're going come looking for us soon. You have to go inside, get our daughters and bring them to your house."

Nick stands there in shock, trying to register what he just saw. "What are you?" he asks over and over.

"You know exactly what I am," says the vampire.
Yeah, dude. Duh.

A Strict Werewolf Dad on 'The Gates' (VIDEO)

Strict Werewolf Dad on 'The Gates'You might think that if your dad's a werewolf, and you inherited the condition, he wouldn't care about a little vandalism. But not when it leads the new chief of police to drop by the house, snoop around and ask questions.

On 'The Gates' (Sun., 10PM ET on ABC), Lukas and his father engage in a vicious werewolf hunt, and then have a father-son lesson on skinning a deer. The cop -- new to the supernatural community -- starts inquiring about an old police report.

"I can assure you that if my son was into any kind of trouble, I'd know about it. And he'd be dealt with accordingly," the father tells the officer. But after the police chief leaves, daddy gets a little angry.

An Angry Wolf on 'The Gates' (VIDEO)

The GatesIn case you haven't heard, wolves are big right now. They're big in 'Twilight.' They're big on 'True Blood.' And now they're big on 'The Gates' (Sun., 10PM ET on ABC).

And, apparently, they're really angry, too – or at least Andie's boyfriend Brett is, when he sees her getting chummy with Charlie. Chances are good he's not going to get any less angry as the show goes on, because what fun would that be?

Rhona Mitra Talks Favorite Vampires & Life Behind 'The Gates' (VIDEO)

by Maggie Furlong, posted Jun 18th 2010 10:00AM
Rhona Mitra, 'The Gates'Let's face it: Vampires aren't going anywhere. Between 'Twilight,' 'True Blood' and 'The Vampire Diaries,' those bloodusuckers have turned America into a fang-loving nation.

Now we've got suburban spellbinders to enjoy on 'The Gates.' Think of it like 'Desperate Housewives' ... if the ladies never aged, all their dinner parties ended in death and the car pool line looked more like a criminal line-up. Because behind the gates, there's more than just beautiful homes and wealthy families -- there are also secret corners and dark forests, perfect for feasting on human blood.

I caught up with sexy star Rhona Mitra to find out how she's adjusting to the sharp-toothed lifestyle, what we can expect from the show and who her favorite pop culture vampires are.
