Robin Roberts Visits 'The Great Food Truck Race' (VIDEO)
by Nick Zaino, posted May 24th 2011 2:00PM
Gourmet food trucks is a newish trend, so naturally there's a reality TV series devoted to it, the Food Network's 'Great Food Truck Race.' Today on 'Good Morning America' (weekdays, 7AM on ABC), Robin Roberts got a behind-the-scenes look at the show, the trucks and the food. She got to be part-cheerleader, part–food tester, but said she was glad she didn't have to judge."It's fast food meets gourmet kitchen," said Roberts, "and the flavors are enough to make you faint." 'Food Truck Race' host Tyler Florence acknowledged the gourmet food truck trend has been getting national attention, and said that's why Roberts was there.
Roberts got to prod the chefs a bit when time was running out for their challenge and taste their quick cuisine. But she ended the clip with a bit of a cliffhanger. If you want to find out who won the challenge, you'll have to watch the show.
Four Questions About 'The Great Food Truck Race' Finale
by Joel Keller, posted Sep 20th 2010 3:30PM
If you've been following the new Food Network series 'The Great Food Truck Race,' you know that the fun summer show had its finale last night. I won't mention who won it until after the jump, but as I watched the finale unfold, something about it didn't seem right to me.I didn't think I'd like the 'Food Truck Race' when it started, even though I like new trend of gourmet food being served out of trucks that used to only dispense hamburgers and hot dogs. But the personalities of the people on the various trucks sold me on the show, as did the fact that the twee and robotic members of the Nom Nom banh mi truck won every challenge leading up to the finale.
In the finale, they were pitted against the always-scraping-by heavy-metal gourmet burger guys from Grill 'Em All. And the contest was looking like a blowout until midway through the episode, which lead me to my aforementioned head scratching. Read on to see some of the questions I have about the finale that I'd ask the producers if I had a chance.
Tyler Florence Talks 'The Great Food Truck Race'

I'm a picky eater, and I honestly never thought I'd eat anything from a mobile restaurant so lovingly dubbed "roach coach." But today's food trucks are far from cheap eats on wheels -- there are some seriously gourmet offerings on four wheels.Food Network has pounced on the food truck craze with their fun new show 'The Great Food Truck Race' (premieres Sun., Aug. 15, 10PM ET). With chef and Food Network fixture Tyler Florence hosting, the show follows seven trucks from across the country as they prove their ingenuity and business savvy to try to win the $50,000 grand prize.
I caught up with Florence to hear all about this new wave of food competitions on TV and what kinds of trucks we'll see on the show. Then came the kicker -- he loves the trucks so much, he's getting in on it, too. Sign me up.
