'The Kids in the Hall' Return to TV (VIDEO)
by Oliver Miller, posted Aug 22nd 2010 11:46PM
'The Kids in the Hall' haven't appeared on network television since 1995. Which means that -- unless you're as old as this particular 'TV Squad' writer -- you might not even remember them. Yes, an entire generation has grown up without the 'Kids' uniquely bizarre brand of sketch-comedy. And that's sad!But no need to fret: the 'Kids' are back. And what's more, the 'Kids' are all right! (Sorry, we were sort of contractually obligated to make that joke.)
The Kids In the Hall On Murder-Mystery Miniseries 'Death Comes To Town' (VIDEO)

It doesn't matter how old you are, you've probably squished a head or two in your lifetime.
Chalk up that childish and passive-aggressively satisfying finger action to The Kids In the Hall, the Canadian sketch group who brought us their hit eponymous show and awesomely ridiculous movies like 'Brain Candy.'

I sat down with the group's founders Kevin McDonald and Dave Foley to hear all about their new murder mystery miniseries, 'Death Comes to Town,' which is their first show in over 15 years. What's the show all about, how much are they in drag and how does it feel returning to TV? Plus, will they ever try another movie? It's all right here ...

The Show Girl Talks 'Head Rush,' 'Thintervention' & Kids In the Hall's Latest (VIDEO)

Love 'MythBusters'? Can't get enough of Kari Byron's endearing fearlessness? Then definitely check out her new show, 'Head Rush.' Yes, the after-school science show isn't exactly made for adults, but whose physics and biology knowledge couldn't use a little brushing up?I also preview Jackie Warner's new weight loss show 'Thintervention,' which she says is designed to target her clients' bodies, minds and souls. So which celeb does she want to help rehab? I see a spinoff, Bravo! Then I catch up with the Kids In the Hall to talk about their new murder mystery miniseries 'Death Comes to Town' ... and squishing heads.

A twisted preview of the Kids in the Hall's twisted new miniseries
by Danny Gallagher, posted Dec 8th 2009 5:32PM
The Kids in the Hall's official page at FunnyorDie.com has a preview of their mystery murder mini-series called Death Comes to Town.
The trailer is very promising that we'll get some good ol' fashioned classic KITH, the way Mom used to make it. So far, it's only scheduled for air in Canada next month and even though I'm a big KITH fan, I'm not willing to endure a minute of Canadian winter to watch it. So they better get their collective asses to the U.S. in a hurry.

The Kids in the Hall Bring Death to CBC
by Annette Bourdeau, posted Nov 26th 2009 2:07AM

Canada's favourite cross-dressers are back for a new eight-part mini-series set to air on the CBC this winter. 'Kids in the Hall: Death Comes to Town' is a comic murder mystery based in the fictional small town of Shuckton, Ontario. All five Kids – Scott Thompson, Dave Foley, Kevin McDonald, Mark McKinney and Bruce McCulloch – play multiple characters, including, yes, the ladyfolk. McCulloch came up with the concept and took on the role of lead producer.
We caught up with Scott, Dave and almost Kevin (who dashed off for a bathroom break before the interview and never returned) and had a very random conversation about everything from the new mini-series to Kevin's toes to Agatha Christie.
Remember "Blinded by the Light"? Not the song, the sketch
by Danny Gallagher, posted Oct 12th 2009 7:08PM
For some reason, Showtime's original series have been attempting to reference every major song on the Billboard '70s and '80s rock chart in their episode titles. Last night's Dexter titled "Blinded by the Light" kept sticking in my head and then I remembered why.
Just as the Kids in the Hall were coming to a close in Canada, Lorne Michaels brought a lesser known comedy troupe called The Vacant Lot to the CBC and Comedy Central. It only lasted one season, but one of their very funny inaugural sketches "Blinded by the Light" got stuck in my brain. Thankfully YouTube is required to save every memory ever recorded, and that includes the Vacant Lot's sketches. Enjoy.

The Kids in the Hall reunite for a murder-mystery miniseries

Just imagine how much fun Harper's Island could have been if it had been written by and starred The Kids in the Hall. If you live in Canada, you don't have to imagine it, because the Kids are creating just that.Death Comes to Town is to be an eight-part comedy where the Kids (Scott Thompson, Dave Foley, Mark McKinney, Bruce McCulloch and Kevin McDonald) will each play multiple roles, possibly including some of the characters made famous on The Kids in the Hall sketch comedy show. I'm hoping the murderer kills people by crushing their heads.
Canada's laugh reserves running dangerously low
by Danny Gallagher, posted May 4th 2009 8:14PM
Americans might be running out of money, steady jobs and patience, but Canadians are dealing with an equally depressing depletion. And no, it's not beer. A shortage of Canadian beer would be a blessing, not a curse.
Variety reports that the land of milk and hockey is low on laughs because the CTV network hasn't produced a new hit sitcom that has won the nation's maple syrup pumping hearts.

Bruce McCulloch of Carpoolers: The TV Squad Interview - AUDIO
by Joel Keller, posted Oct 2nd 2007 11:28AM

When I wrapped up my interview with Bruce McCulloch -- executive producer of ABC's Carpoolers and a member of the legendary comedy troupe Kids In The Hall -- I asked him if there was anything else he might be working on. "Yeah, I'm going to have a heart attack next March, and I wanted people to know about that," he joked. For a guy who has worn a lot of hats in his career, nothing has kept him busier than being the boss.
Carpoolers, a single-camera comedy premiering on ABC tonight at 8:30 PM ET, is about four guys who use their carpool to explore what's going on in each other's lives. The show is McCulloch's brainchild, which means he's involved with everything from the writing to how many donuts will be on the craft services table. Yet he still has time to write and perform his own surreal works, as well as perform occasionally with the Kids, who have been together for almost a quarter-century.
I got a chance to speak to McCulloch last week, and we talked about what it's like to premiere after the season's most lambasted new show (Cavemen), what parts of himself he sees in each of his main characters, what it's like to work with Fred Goss and Jerry O'Connell (who spoke to our friends at AOL last week), and why the Kids have managed to stay together for so long. Highlights are after the jump, as well as an audio embed of the interview (35 minutes).
