Tim Meadows and Craig Ferguson Attempt to Talk Football (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Sep 9th 2011 5:30PM
Tim Meadows and Craig Ferguson discuss football on 'The Late Late Show'In one of his more famous routines, George Carlin compared football to baseball. Thursday night on 'The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson' (weeknights, 12:35AM on CBS), Ferguson and Tim Meadows compared football and football, or rather, American football and what we call soccer here in the New World.

Ferguson started the show by having Sid, his white rabbit puppet, talk about how he was looking forward to the new football season, especially his favorite team, the Detroit Lions. "This season," he said, "this is the season for us, the Detroit Lions," before laughing and disappearing from the camera view.

Craig Ferguson and Eddie Izzard Are Not Talking About a Bike Pump (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Jul 20th 2011 6:38AM
Eddie Izzard, 'The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson'Craig Ferguson has a dirty mind, but the guests on 'The Late Late Show' (Weeknights, 12:37AM ET on CBS) aren't always so quick to catch on. When Ferguson asked Eddie Izzard if he was going to have an orchestra at an upcoming show, Izzard cracked a joke about it being a tiny little inflatable orchestra.

Ferguson immediately started thinking of something else you can pump up, and started suggesting it toward Izzard. But a pump and self pleasure are two different things, and Izzard assumed Ferguson was referring to the latter.

"That is not how you masturbate, I tell you," Izzard said. "That is a bicycle pump."

Elizabeth Banks Is a Tri Delta, Met Her Husband on a Frat House Lawn (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Jul 19th 2011 6:45AM
Elizabeth Banks, 'The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson'When you see Elizabeth Banks, do you think of sororities? When Craig Ferguson found out she was in one on 'The Late Late Show' (Weeknights, 12:37AM ET on CBS), he defaulted to the 'SNL' skit with the sorority girls.

"Delta Delta Delta, can I help ya, help ya, help ya?" he asked, and he was actually right. In fact, her college experience was so great that she met her husband there, though she never did get to the story we really wanted to hear.

"I met him on the lawn of a frat house," is how the story began. But then she started talking about how he tried to play it all cool for the new girl but we're with Ferguson. This isn't the story we want.

Craig Ferguson's Robot Geoff Does a Great Impersonation of Morgan Freeman (VIDEO)

Morgan Freeman and Criag FergusonMorgan Freeman met his vocal doppelganger when he stopped by 'The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson' (Weeknights, 12:37AM ET on CBS).

Now lots of people love Morgan Freeman's voice, and many have tried -- and failed -- to impersonate it. However, Craig Ferguson's robot sidekick Geoff Peterson's impersonation was so dead-on that Freeman was astonished.

"See, when I open my mouth it makes everything sound smart," said Geoff. Freeman really was astounded and said it was the first time he'd heard himself "from the outside."

Michael Clarke Duncan on Going Down vs. 'Going Down' (VIDEO)

by Oliver Miller, posted Dec 23rd 2010 11:00AM
Michael Clarke Duncan on Going Down vs. 'Going Down'Double entendres can be fun! And we got lots of them on the new 'Late Late Show' (weeknights, 12:35AM ET on CBS), as Craig Ferguson welcomed actor Michael Clarke Duncan. While Mike was on the show, he told a story about having to meet his girlfriend in the lobby of a hotel. Sadly, the story involved an absurdly frequent use of the the phrase "go down."

Here is what Michael said. Try to keep track. There will be a test in a second. Seriously; we're not kidding. Okay. This is what he said about the whole meeting his girlfriend in the lobby thing: "She's like, 'Are you coming down? Are you coming down?' I'm like, 'I'm coming down.' So ... I reluctantly go down. But I go down, and she's --"

... Right. And at this point, Craig interrupted the conversation: "Stop saying 'I go down,' man!" And then, Craig started freaking out. But was the host's freaked-out-ness excessive? And were you paying attention to what the actor said?

'The Late Late Show' Takes on 'Star Wars' (VIDEO)

'The Late Late Show' Takes on 'Star Wars'A long time ago ... in a galaxy far, far away -- well, you know the rest. And not that long ago -- but still, you know, about three years ago -- Seth Green began making animated specials mocking 'Star Wars.' And so, on the new 'Late Late Show' (weeknights, 12:37AM ET on CBS), Craig Ferguson and Mr. Green took on the Star Wars saga.

Seth previewed his new 'Robot Chicken'-based Star Wars special; while Craig -- well, Craig mainly asked some questions. Questions such as this one: What is Darth Vader doing struggling with his suit in a bathroom?

Craig Ferguson Introduces the New 'Early Show' Team, Complete With Awkward Pauses (VIDEO)

by Oliver Miller, posted Dec 14th 2010 9:01AM
Craig Ferguson Introduces the New 'Early Show' Team, Complete With Awkward Pauses Well, tomorrow is another day. Unless you're the hosts of 'The Early Show,' that is. Two weeks ago, CBS fired every single member of the perennially-last-place morning talk show. 'Early Show' hosts Harry Smith and Maggie Rodriguez are out. CBS even fired weatherman Dave Price. (Which seems a little unfair to us. What did the weatherman do wrong? Did he miss predicting a tsunami or something?)

In place of the former team, CBS brought in an entirely new crew. Shockingly, they are a bunch of good-looking young people -- the guys wear suits, the women wear short skirts. (Unexpected!) But who are these young kids? On 'The Late Late Show' (weeknights, 12:37AM ET on CBS), Craig Ferguson tried to figure it all out.

They are: Erica Hill, co-anchor; Marysol Castro, weather anchor; Jeff Glor, news-reader; and Chris Ragge, co-anchor. Nifty! Next, Craig tries to puzzle out how this actually changes anything for the show. "So what new stuff is gonna be happening?" he asks. "Are you gonna have new weather?"

Yes
, says Marysol. "Somewhere, it's be gonna sunny; and somewhere, it's gonna be ... not sunny." Fantastic. Please, say no more.

Katie Couric Went on a Blind Date With ... Bob SagetIn the annals of "unexpected blind dates," Katie Couric plus Bob Saget is about as unexpected as Jon Stewart and Jennifer Aniston. But both of these things actually really happened. It just goes to show that romance can bloom anywhere. (Well, sort of.)

On 'The Late Late Show' (weeknights, 12:37AM ET on CBS), Ms. Couric discussed her first date with Mr. Bob Saget -- famous for being the star of 'Full House,' the host of 'America's Funniest Home Videos' -- as well as for being a surprisingly dirty stand-up comedian. Host Craig Ferguson was intrigued. Did things work out on the date?

Regis Philbin and Craig Ferguson Compare Tattoos (Sort of) (VIDEO)

by Oliver Miller, posted Dec 2nd 2010 10:50AM
Regis Philbin and Craig Ferguson Compare TatttoosTalk show host Regis Philbin has been acting pretty "sassy" of late. It's probably because his show is currently filming in Las Vegas. People are always getting into trouble in that town. During his brief time in Vegas, Regis has already managed to spank a female guest and tell a dirty joke on the air.

On the new 'Late Late Show' (weeknights, 12:37AM ET on CBS), Regis revealed that he's also gotten a tattoo -- well, sort of. Previously, in a Vegas-related montage, the 79-year-old acquired a huge tattoo with co-host Kelly Ripa's name on it. In addition, he did shots at an ice bar, took drugs, and partied with the greatest celebrity of all ... prop-comic Carrot Top! Then, he ended up with a massive hangover. Vegas, baby! Vegas.

Craig Ferguson Feuds With the French Version of ... 'Craig Ferguson' (VIDEO)

Craig Ferguson Feuds With the French Version of ... 'Craig Ferguson'Previously on 'The Late Late Show' (weeknights, 12:37AM ET on CBS), Craig Ferguson encountered the evil twin version of himself; the "Bizarro" Craig, if you will. The man's name is Arthur Essebag, and -- cue ominous dramatic music -- he's French. Yes, yes, an evil Frenchman. Somehow, we are unsurprised.

Arthur hosts the French talk show 'Ce Soir Avec Arthur,' which is cool. What's less cool is that he's ripped off Craig's opening credit sequence, down to the last detail. (Compare them here and here.) When Craig learned that Essebag had stolen his show's intro, he was outraged. But tonight, Arthur showed up on the 'Late Late Show' set, and we experienced round two: Real Craig Ferguson versus fake "Craig Ferguson."

What would that be like, when Craig met his evil doppelgänger? ... Well, it was a little weird. Luckily, Arthur employed all his smooth Gallic charm, leaving Ferguson to sputter impotently.

Mark Ruffalo Lied About His Horseback Riding Skills to Get an Acting Job, Nearly Died as a Result (VIDEO)

by Oliver Miller, posted Nov 24th 2010 6:31AM
Mark Ruffalo Lied About His Horseback Riding Skills to Get an Acting Job, Nearly Died as a ResultWe've all exaggerated our resumes a bit to get a job. But actor Mark Ruffalo took this bad habit way too far -- and nearly paid the price with his life. On 'Late Late Show' (weeknights, 12:37AM ET on CBS), Ruffalo revealed that he lied to director Ang Lee, to get a part in the film 'Ride With the Devil.' The name of the movie gives a clue as to what happened next.

The film was a Western drama set during the Civil War. As such, it involved horseback riding. Lots of horseback riding. Lots of dangerous horseback riding. Hence -- 'Ride With the Devil.' Unfortunately, Mark lied about knowing how to ride a horse. He doesn't know how to do that. At all.

During his first attempt at horseback-related acting, Ruffalo took things too far again. He jumped into the saddle, kicked the sides of the horse and yelled "Yaaaah!" Bad idea.

Craig Ferguson Considers Suing a French 'Late Late Show' Rip-Off (VIDEO)

by Oliver Miller, posted Nov 23rd 2010 8:05AM
Craig Ferguson Considers Suing a French 'Late Late Show' Rip-Off Look at the photo to your right. Do you see how angry Craig Ferguson is? He's usually so calm! But on 'The Late Late Show' (weeknights, 12:37PM ET on CBS), we learned an important lesson. DO NOT MESS WITH CRAIG FERGUSON. Otherwise, he'll get mad ... for five seconds or so.

Why is Ferguson so steamed? It's because of 'Ce Soir Avec Arthur' -- a French talk show, of all things! 'Ce Soir' has stolen Craig's opening credits -- down to the fountain, the microphone, and everything else: Compare them for yourself.

Craig is enraged: "You can't steal from us!" he screams. "We don't [EXPLETIVE DELETED] have anything!!" Okay, he's (mildly) enraged, but still being jokey and self-effacing about his own show.

Russell Crowe Has an Idea -- Add Naked Women to Everything! (VIDEO)

Russell Crowe Has an Idea -- Add Naked Women to Everything!Craig Ferguson is a weird guy. And like so many weird guys from the United Kingdom, he's a big fan of the insanely complicated sci-fi series 'Doctor Who.' (If you're saying 'Doctor Who?" to yourself right now, that's because the show has never become as popular here as it is in the U.K. Here's a brief guide to the show should you need it.)

But Russell Crowe is from Australia, which is like a tougher version of the U.K., so it stands to reason that he doesn't share Craig's geeky sci-fi enthusiasm. On 'Late Late Show' (weeknights, 12:37AM ET on CBS), Russell makes a simple recommendation: Add naked women to get him interested in stuff!

Cheryl Hines Talks About Her All-Girl, Semi-Nude Vacation (VIDEO)

Cheryl Hines Talks About Her All-Girl, Semi-Nude VacationActress Cheryl Hines has been starring on 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' for eleven seasons now. So it stands to reason that she could use a little time off. On 'Late Late Show' (weeknights, 12:37AM ET on CBS), she discussed a highly sexy all-girl trip to Mexico, much to Craig Ferguson's consternation.

Cheryl went to the beach, accompanied by a group of female friends. Here's a quick list of what their trip involved:

1) Tequila shots.
2) Semi-naked 'Slip 'n Slide.'
3) Skinny-dipping.
4) Eating at a restaurant with two naked girls, whose breasts were only covered with "corn tortillas." (A nice touch, in that it's kind of a nod to Mexican cuisine.)

'Glee' Star Jayma Mays Is So 'Not Cool' (VIDEO)

by Oliver Miller, posted Nov 4th 2010 6:08AM
'Glee' Star Jayma Mays Is So 'Not Cool'The musical drama 'Glee' is pretty hip right now. But does that coolness transfer over to one of the show's stars?

On 'The Late Late Show' (weeknights, 12:37AM ET on CBS), Craig Ferguson talked with Jayma Mays -- who plays the OCD-afflicted guidance counselor on 'Glee.' While asking Jayma about her odd first name, Craig learned that Jayma's parents were wannabe hippies who simply made the name up. The hippie thing was strike one against Ms. Mays (the host isn't a fan of them). "Not cool," he said.

Craig gave Jayma another chance to show she was "cool." He placed a dollar bill on his desk and told the actress not to steal it. Unfortunately, Jayma failed this test as well.
