Mary Steenburgen to Visit '30 Rock,' Elisabeth Moss Eyeing BBC Miniseries Lead and More Casting News

Mary SteenburgenWe're still not sure when NBC's '30 Rock' will return to our screens (fingers crossed for early midseason), but when it comes back, expect an extra injection of hilarity from Mary Steenburgen.

According to EW, Steenburgen will guest-star as Charlotte, the "highly spirited and attractive" mother of Elizabeth Banks' character, Avery.

In her multi-episode arc, expect to see WASP-ish Charlotte going head to head with Jack (Alec Baldwin).

According to Deadline, Rhea Perlman will co-star opposite Alley on 'The Manzanis.'

The new show sees Alley star as Angela Manzani, a very opinionated mother whose family clashes with their new neighbors. Perlman will play Angela's mother-in-law, Camille Manzani.

After 'Cheers' Perlman and Alley shared the screen one other time, in an episode of Alley's Showtime series 'Fat Actress.'

Kirstie Alley Gets ABC Sitcom Pilot

Kirstie AlleyAfter charming audiences with her cha cha cha on 'Dancing With the Stars,' Kirstie Alley is poised to waltz her way into a new ABC sitcom.

AOL TV first reported Alley's desire to return to comedies -- she told us about possible projects with TV Land and HBO -- but Deadline reports she's landed a multi-camera sitcom called 'The Manzanis.'

Described as a new take on 'Roseanne,' the project follows a family, led by Alley's opinionated wife and mother character, as they move to a "repressed country club town."

The project is written by Marco Pennette ('Caroline in the City') and Dave Flebotte ('Ellen'), with the duo also executive producing. Alley's manager Jason Weinberg and Aaron Kaplan ('Good Christian Belles') are also expected to join the project as executive producers.
