Get ready to see a lot more movies in the Weather Channel's forecast.Variety is reporting that the channel, now under the direction of president and CEO Michael Kelly, will air a number of weather-themed movies, starting at the end of this month.
First up will be the George Clooney vehicle 'The Perfect Storm' on Fri., Oct. 30. The channel will then roll out an additional three movies in November, including 'March of the Penguins' (Nov. 6), 'Misery' (Nov. 13) and 'Deep Blue Sea' (Nov. 20), co-starring 'NCIS: Los Angeles'' LL Cool J.
Hosted by meteorologist Jennifer Carfagno, this will be another opportunity for the Weather Channel to provide a wider variety of content. Other recent examples of this have included the July launch of 'Wake Up With Al,' a morning news program hosted by 'Today''s Al Roker.
The Weather Channel is about to become The Weather Movie Channel

Looks like TV Land isn't the only cable channel going away from their original programming model and getting into movies. The Weather Channel has announced that it is adding movies to its schedule. The movies would have a scroll at the bottom that would keep viewers informed of the weather and other weather-related news and information, and each movie will be hosted by a meteorologist. The movies they've chosen so far all have a weather or a nature theme to them, including The Perfect Storm, March of the Penguins, Deep Blue Sea, and Misery. I'm guessing they picked Misery not for the crazy-woman-holds-a-writer-hostage angle but for the fact that the story takes places during a snowstorm.
Criminal Minds: The Perfect Storm

(S02E03) Numerous times when I've written about this show in the past I've stated that it's nothing special. It's just consistently good (I love it for that reason) and this episode was a prime example. The story wasn't all that intricate and most people with half a wit of sense probably figured out what the big twist was about ten minutes before it was revealed. I thought about that for a second though. Tons of episodes in the first season of Criminal Minds followed a similar formula. Well not really a formula, but a loose storyline with a predictable twist that just about anybody can deduce. But do you change the channel after you crack it? No! You still watch the last ten or fifteen minutes to get that satisfaction of being right. That's what Criminal Minds is. It's the ultimate "HA! I knew it!" show.TV Squad Hot Topics
