The Colbert Report's The Word - iPhone app review

by Brad Trechak, posted Oct 24th 2009 5:05PM
The Colbert Report's The WordThe Colbert Report's The Word is one of those iPhone applications that takes advantage of that sort of portable player. The Word is one of those segments that doesn't translate well to a book, unlike Letterman's Top Ten Lists. Video clips better convey the emotion of the segment.

Basically, the application is all the clips of Colbert's most famous segment, and I mean all of them. The app requires a WiFi or data connection to work (because you don't want all those clips taking up memory) but they're constantly updated. I'm not sure if this will be forever or until they get bored with it and figure out another way to make money.

What You Missed Last Night: Colbert and the giant cross

by Bob Sassone, posted Oct 14th 2009 2:35PM
The Word is one of the best segments of The Colbert Report, and last night Colbert ranted about a large cross in the Mojave Desert that is causing some controversy.

Oh, and if you're wondering why Colbert is wearing a blond wig at the start of this segment, you can watch the entire episode at Slashcontrol.

The Best of the Colbert Report - DVD review

by Annie Wu, posted Oct 28th 2007 12:04PM
Stephen ColbertThe whole DVD is extremely straightforward. I mean, really straightforward. It is the Best of The Colbert Report and only the best of the Colbert Report. No special features, no commentary. As soon as the one DVD is popped in, after some Comedy Central ads, a list of clips comes up, and that's it. Even the Daily Show Indecision 2004 DVD had a wonderfully weird intro with Stephen Colbert and some fun, albeit slightly frustrating, interactive menus. I think this DVD could have benefited from some extra pizazz, perhaps in the form of a little Colbert-licious pretentiousness. I should be so blinded by patriotism and bears that I have to struggle to navigate. Or something like that.

Best of Colbert Report DVD coming in November

by Bob Sassone, posted Sep 18th 2007 4:21PM

Best of Colbert ReportI've been waiting for a "Best Of" DVD set for The Daily Show for a while now. Sure, they released that Indecision 2004 set a few years ago, and that was fine, but the best stuff on the show is seen on the everyday episodes and not just the special political coverage. I'm sure there's one coming down the road at some point.

In the meantime, we have a Best of The Colbert Report DVD coming in November. All the great bits will be on the disc, including several The Word segments (including the first one, "truthiness"), "Better Know A District," "Cooking with Feminists," "Meta-Free-Phor-All," and the "Green Screen Challenge." It will also include Bill O'Reilly's appearance on the show.

Colbert also has a new book coming in October, I Am America (And So Can You!).
