As Long As Congress Is Wasting Time, Stewart Has Some New Motto Suggestions (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Nov 4th 2011 4:45AM
'The Daily Show with Jon Stewart'Jon Stewart spends much of his time on 'The Daily Show' (Weeknights, 11PM ET on Comedy Central) marveling at government waste and the ridiculousness of what's going on, both in Washington and in the media.

When politicians get a camera thrust in their face or a crowd of people around them, they're pounding the gavel that Congress and the American government need to get focused on finding a way to create jobs for American people. But what is Congress doing? Reaffirming 'In God We Trust' as our national motto.

Stewart Responds to Trump's Claim That He Was Racist on 'The Daily Show' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Nov 3rd 2011 4:00AM
'The Daily Show with Jon Stewart'Donald Trump thinks Jon Stewart should be taken off the air "for a while" based on a supposed impression he did of Herman Cain on Tuesday night's 'The Daily Show' (Weeknights, 11PM ET on Comedy Central). Stewart spoke in Cain's voice as a continuation of Cain's response when asked if he'd ever paid anyone in regards to sexual harassment claims.

It wasn't one of Stewart's more clear ethnic accents, but Trump was incensed and took to the web to rant about it. Stewart got wind of it and decided that Trump was actually in "a unique position" to pass judgment.

Condoleezza Rice Talks About Gadhafi's Obsession With Her on 'Daily Show' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Nov 2nd 2011 3:00AM
Condoleezza Rice, 'The Daily Show with Jon Stewart'One of the more bizarre details to come to light after the death of Moammar Gadhafi was that he had a particular fascination with former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. On 'The Daily Show' (Weeknights, 11PM ET on Comedy Central), she admitted that she knew about his stalker-like fixation when she was in office, and how it colored diplomatic meetings with him.

For the most part, she just tried to keep it professional, focusing on the task at hand. But on one visit, he told her he had a video he wanted her to see. This understandably had her quite concerned, but it turned out to be a much more innocent gesture.

Sexual Harrassment Claims Change How Jon Stewart Sees Herman Cain (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Nov 1st 2011 5:45AM
'The Daily Show with Jon Stewart'Thanks to recent allegations that Herman Cain may have acted inappropriately towards two female subordinates at the National Restaurant Association in the mid-1990s, suddenly Jon Stewart is seeing everything he does and says on camera in a new light. He showed a few examples on 'The Daily Show' (Weeknights, 11PM ET on Comedy Central).

Particularly, Cain taking about black walnut flavored ice cream tasting good all the time, and that weird, slow smile he does at the end of his political campaign commercials. Stephen Colbert already challenged him to a slow-smile-off, but now Stewart is speculating that people will be hearing a very different kind of music in their heads when they see that self-satisfied look on his face.

Jon Stewart Struggles to Keep Up (And Down) With the Stock Market (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Oct 28th 2011 5:15AM
'The Daily Show with Jon Stewart'Jon Stewart learned a valuable lesson on 'The Daily Show' (Weeknights, 11PM ET on Comedy Central). For the past week, the stock market has been fluctuating wildly, each time a new report came out regarding the economic conditions in Europe.

But as the markets vary, it should not be used as a barometer of how the economy is doing, and certainly now how you should be feeling. Unfortunately, Stewart was apparently celebrating the highs with certain drugs and the lows with others. It was party followed by gut-wrenching depression only to party it up again the next night.

'The Daily Show with Jon Stewart'Jon Stewart decided to check in on how the nationwide Occupy Wall Street movement has been going on 'The Daily Show' (Weeknights, 11PM ET on Comedy Central). While most of the cities feature the same kind of peaceful protests we've become used to seeing, it's an entirely different picture in Oakland, California.

"The police saw the situation deteriorating in terms of a public safety threat," one report said. "They saw health conditions getting bad, so they decided to get rid of those protesters."

Walter Isaacson Sums Up the Difference Between Steve Jobs and Bill Gates (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Oct 26th 2011 3:45AM
Walter Isaacson, 'Steve Jobs' - 'The Daily Show with Jon Stewart'Walter Isaacson spent a lot of time with Steve Jobs in preparation for the biography he was writing of the Apple co-founder. As such, he came to intimately understand the man and the perception that people had of him. By that same token, he gained an understanding of Bill Gates as well, as he related on 'The Daily Show' (Weeknights, 11PM ET on Comedy Central).

Just as Apple and Microsoft have become these two opposite giants in the field of technology, so were Steve Jobs and Bill Gates, according to Isaacson. "Steve is very mystical, artistic, sort of comes from the counter-culture," he said. "Bill Gates is awesomely smart ... and makes a great business model for Microsoft, but he never makes the artistic products."

Kevin Clash on Being the Voice of 'Sesame Street's' Elmo on 'The Daily Show' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Oct 25th 2011 3:30AM
Kevin Clash ('Sesame Street' Elmo), 'The Daily Show with Jon Stewart'According to Kevin Clash, it was by default that he wound up as the voice of Elmo on 'Sesame Street.' But it was his performance that turned the character into an icon, though most people are still surprised when they see him and discover what he does.

On 'The Daily Show' (Weeknights, 11PM ET on Comedy Central), he shared a fun story about being asked by a flight attendant to speak to the children over the microphone on an airplane as it was landing. The best bit was that when he was finished, he said he saw people peeking into the aisles to see who it was. When he came through, they shook their heads in disbelief.

Jon Stewart Offers Advice to Dictators in Hiding on 'The Daily Show' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Oct 21st 2011 3:45AM
'The Daily Show with Jon Stewart'It's not easy being a dictator on the run. In light of the recent developments that saw former Libyan ruler Muammar Gaddafi captured and killed, Jon Stewart took a moment on 'The Daily Show' (Weeknights, 11PM ET on Comedy Central) to offer some advice to other dictators who may find themselves in similar circumstances.

Gaddafi was found hiding out in what basically amounted to a hole in the ground, similar to the type of accommodation we found Saddam Hussein hunkering down in when he was captured.

"I would resist hidey-holing," he advised. "'Cause at some point, the angry guys with the guns -- they're checking the holes."

Al Sharpton, 'The Daily Show with Jon Stewart'While talking with Rev. Al Sharpton about the current political landscape on 'The Daily Show' (Weeknights, 11PM ET on Comedy Central), Jon Stewart marveled at the possibility of Herman Cain winning the Republican nomination, and how significant that might be. Cain is the current Republican front-runner.

"The idea of a possible presidential race -- two African Americans squaring off against each other -- has to feel like an achievement for people who worked in the civil rights movement," Stewart said.

Stewart: Who Do Republicans Want Americans to Take America Back From? (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Oct 19th 2011 4:15AM
'The Daily Show with Jon Stewart'Jon Stewart found himself very confused by the rhetoric coming from the right on 'The Daily Show' (Weeknights, 11PM ET on Comedy Central). Particularly, he couldn't understand why they're so upset about this Occupy Wall Street protest movement.

He had clips of several Republican leaders denouncing the actions of these people and saying Americans shouldn't be standing up against fellow Americans.

And yet he had clips from just a couple of years ago of these same Republican leaders telling American leaders to stand up against the likes of teacher's unions, liberals, the media, and Planned Parenthood, among others.

Jon Stewart Has a Cautionary Message for One 'Occupy Wall Street' Protestor (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Oct 18th 2011 4:15AM
'The Daily Show with Jon Stewart'Jon Stewart checked in on the "Occupy Wall Street" movement that's expanded globally since he left for vacation from 'The Daily Show' (Weeknights, 11PM ET on Comedy Central). For the most part, he appreciated that people have been able to demonstrate peacefully and get their message of dissatisfaction with the status quo across.

But all it takes is one person to derail that message.

"For all their popularity, for their participants with thoughtful critiques of our power structure, there's also this," he said throwing up a photo and then explaining. "A guy taking a s*** on a police car."

Jason Sudeikis Loves Seeing Famous Musicians Roll Through 'SNL' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Oct 7th 2011 4:00AM
Jason Sudeikis, 'The Daily Show with Jon Stewart'Jason Sudeikis came on 'The Daily Show' (Weeknights, 11PM ET on Comedy Central) to talk about the new season of 'Saturday Night Live.' He promises that this week's show is great right now, though he figures they'll screw it up pretty good by Saturday night.

He got to talking about how exciting it is to see some of the musical acts come through, and how the cast often sits on on their rehearsals. He has particularly fond, and funny, memories of watching Paul McCartney rehearse one of his favorite songs.

"You forget that it's Paul McCartney until you try to take a picture of him and a big black guy slaps your hand," Sudeikis said of how mesmerized he was watching McCartney perform.

Hugh Jackman Got Sucker-Punched by Sugar Ray Leonard (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Oct 6th 2011 4:15AM
Hugh Jackman, 'The Daily Show with Jon Stewart'While training for the film 'Real Steel,' the producers asked Hugh Jackman if he'd be okay with having Sugar Ray Leonard come in and help him train up a bit so he can be more convincing as a former boxer. What kind of question was that, Jackman wondered on 'The Daily Show' (Weeknights, 11PM ET on Comedy Central)?

Of course, he'd want to live that experience. And he said that Leonard is the real deal. And apparently, at 55 years old, Sugar Ray Leonard still packs a pretty mean punch. Especially when it's coming for your stomach and you're not ready.

Michael Lewis Thought 'Moneyball' Would Be a Terrible Movie (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Oct 5th 2011 3:15AM
Michael Lewis, 'The Daily Show with Jon Stewart'Michael Lewis has found himself in an awkward position. His book 'Moneyball' has been adapted into a critically acclaimed box office success, and yet he was a little late to the party. On 'The Daily Show' (Weeknights, 11PM ET on Comedy Central), he admitted, "I thought it was gonna suck."

He just didn't think his book was the kind of thing that could be adapted into a quality film. So he was perhaps more surprised than anyone when the final product was coming together and it turned out to be a great film. But what does he do now after backing away from it for so long?
