Kimmel Pays Speidi a Backhanded Compliment on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' (VIDEO)
by Donald Deane, posted Nov 20th 2009 1:25PM
Jimmy Kimmel delivered a compliment of sorts to Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live,' playing to the popular notion that Speidi's fame might not be warranted."The thing that really seems to upset people is, they say you're famous for no reason," Kimmel said. "To me, that's more impressive because a guy like Justin Timberlake, he sings, he dances, he acts. You guys made it with none of that stuff."

Heidi and Spencer Plotting Their Own Reality Series: Do They Need a Reality Check?
by Michael D. Ayers, posted Nov 17th 2009 11:50AM
Like 'em or not, Heidi and Spencer Pratt are here to stay -- that is, if they get their wishes fulfilled. In an interview with the Associated Press, 'The Hills' stars revealed their desires to stay in the reality game, and are currently shopping a new series. The concept: Instead of just showing the narrow version of the Pratts that we get on 'The Hills,' it would dig into the nether regions of their everyday lives and show ... everything!
"You don't get to see our everyday lives and what we do," Heidi Pratt said in reference to 'The Hills.' Still, should the couple get a green light, they'd still want to continue "working" on 'The Hills,' too.
Currently, they're promoting a tongue-and-cheek advice book, 'How to be Famous: Our Guide to Looking the Part, Playing the Press, and Becoming a Tabloid Fixture.' But the advice that TV fans may soon give them: go away. While they've found some sort of fan base on MTV, their major network experiment on NBC's 'I'm A Celebrity ... Get Me Out of Here!' didn't exactly go very well. Negative press flooded in, with the general consensus being that these two might be a wee bit spoiled and, um, clueless.

Taylor Jacobson Leaving Rachel Zoe: Who Should Replace Her?
by Rebecca Paiement, posted Nov 9th 2009 1:00PM
If and when the 'Rachel Zoe Project' resumes on Bravo, it will have to be without assistant Taylor Jacobson.PEOPLE is reporting that Zoe has fired Jacobson, effective immediately. Zoe's rep, Carrie Gordon, has since confirmed the news.
Why Jacobson was let go remains to be seen, although, given how often she complained about her job on the show, many would say she had it coming.
Still, Jacobson insists that the decision was solely her own. Hoping to begin her own fashion styling business, Jacobson's Twitter account and emails to colleagues, leaked to Fashionista, reflect her enthusiasm to get out on her own. "I am saddened and exhilarated at the same time to announce my departure," she wrote. "After much thought and consideration, I have decided to take the challenging leap and go off and style on my own."
How to Boost 'The Hills'' Ratings
by Andrew Scott, posted Oct 23rd 2009 3:00PM
The bitch is back, but so far 'The Hills'' audience is nowhere to be found.According to Media Life Magazine, the show's ratings have seen a steady decline over three episodes this season. The Sept. 29 premiere (2.4 million viewers) fell 30 percent from April; this week's episode (1.7 million) was down over 50 percent from 2007 in the 18-34 demo.
'The Hills' recently underwent a number of changes following the departure of its star, Lauren Conrad. 'Laguna Beach' frenemy Kristin Cavallari was brought in to fill her shoes, but already it appears that her feet may not be big enough for the job.
Will the show ever regain its momentum? It's possible. But based on its sinking ratings, it's going to need some help -- which is where we come in (yes, it's a "reality" show, but it's really scripted, right?)
Here now are four ways -- two serious, two not so much -- to boost 'The Hills'' ratings.
What to Watch: October 19 - 25
by Stephanie Earp, posted Oct 19th 2009 2:02AM

Peak Season (October 19, 10 pm, MTV)
This new doc series premieres tonight, with an introduction to most of the major players in the snowy soap. Cameras follow a group of kids - in their early 20s, as is the case up in Whistler - who work the slopes and bars in Whistler as they get together and break up. It's like 'The Hills' on ice.
Which Show Do You Like Better: 'The Hills' or 'The City'?
by Patricia Chui, posted Oct 8th 2009 12:02PM
Ladies and gentlemen, in this corner (Hollywood) you have 'The Hills,' which lost original star Lauren Conrad but still boasts endless drama as well of two of the biggest villains on reality TV, Heidi and Spencer. In the other corner (New York City), you have 'Hills' offshoot 'The City,' starring LC pal Whitney Port, who's learning to make it on her own in the big, bad ... well, city. Two sibling shows, two different scenes ... which one do you prefer?
'The Hills' Premiere Preview: Watch Out for Kristin Cavallari
by Kelly Woo, posted Sep 29th 2009 4:30PM
The bitch is back! That's how MTV's been promoting the new season of 'The Hills,' which premieres tonight. "The bitch" refers to Kristin Cavallari, formerly of 'Laguna Beach,' who is replacing Lauren Conrad as the reality series' lead character.
'Laguna' fans will remember Kristin as the vixenish foil who "stole" good girl Lauren's boyfriend, Stephen Colletti. But Cavallari begs to differ, saying she cried about her portrayal when that show premiered ...
Audrina Patridge Leaving 'The Hills' & More TV News

by Jason Hughes, posted Aug 31st 2009 3:38PM
Audrina Patridge is the latest "cast" member to leave The Hills, following on the heels of Lauren Conrad and Whitney Port. To this news I ask: Can the rest of the cast leave so they can just cancel the show? We could only be so lucky. No, reality television's favorite couple of prats, Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt remain. You know, that could explain why everybody else is running from The Hills. The producers are hoping an injection of Kristin Cavallari, formerly of Laguna Beach will help. Personally, I'd be thrilled with the addition of some of the fine folks from the MMA to kick Speidi's ass. I'd watch that week after week.
Don't worry about Patridge, though. She says she's leaving The Hills to focus on that acting career she went to LA for. Which means starring in another reality show for MTV, apparently. The Audrina Show, produced by Survivor's Mark Burnett, will hit the airwaves 2010. Can somebody tell me what Burnett is doing attached to this project?
Vampire Diaries' cross promotion could inspire more TV charities
by Danny Gallagher, posted Aug 26th 2009 6:31PM

Cross promotions are not a new concept to TV heads, but this one cooked up by the folks behind the CW's Vampire Diaries deserves a Peabody Award. As Brad mentioned earlier today, The Vampire Diaries is being cross-promoted with the American Red Cross in which the show is hosting its own blood drive.
What a great idea and a great cause! Just think of the other charitable promotions this will inspire other shows to tackle.

EW declares the all-time best and worst of reality television
by Jason Hughes, posted Jun 11th 2009 3:00PM
Considering how prevalent reality television is these days, it's got to be a pretty daunting task to try and put together a comprehensive list of the best and worst of all time. But Entertainment Weekly thinks they've done just that. They've compiled the top 20 reality shows of all time, but also the ten worst reality shows of all time. All in all, they did a pretty damned good job. I completely agree with the top six, but they lose me with Jackass at number seven. I have never understood the appeal of filming morons doing stupid things on purpose just to be stupid. But there were some shows missing from the list completely, like Little People Big World, So You Think You Can Dance and Beauty and the Geek. Surely those shows are better than The Hills and The Real Housewives of Sesame Street, or whatever franchise they're spinning now.
Heidi Pratt tortured on reality TV show
by Brad Trechak, posted Jun 8th 2009 8:17AM
It's a dream come true for everybody like myself that utterly, utterly hates reality television. Heidi Pratt had to be rushed to the hospital for being "tortured" on the reality television show I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here.First, who decided that Spencer and Heidi Pratt would be called "Speidi?" It sounds like the nickname for Spider-Man, only misspelled. Most likely it's the working of a really bad publicist who wants them to be the next "Brangelina" or "Bennifer" or something like that.
Second, given the problems the couple has already had with NBC regarding this show (like quitting and then coming back), this sounds like a ploy to not actually do anything while collecting a paycheck (something they got ample practice with in The Hills).
I would also like to add that it's probably even worse torture for the viewer to simply watch them on television than anything NBC put Heidi through.
'The Hills' Finale: Kristin Cavallari's Back!
by Kim Potts, posted Jun 1st 2009 12:00PM

It's a good thing Spencer Pratt claims he's turning over a new leaf, because last night's episode of 'The Hills' hinted there's a new villain in town, and she's actually a baddie blast from the past: Kristin Cavallari.
As Lauren Conrad made her final appearance as a regular cast member when she made a surprise (OK, not really) pop-in to Spencer and Heidi's wedding, Kristin, L.C.'s old nemesis from 'Laguna Beach,' made a surprise pop-in herself, turning up at the wedding and plopping herself down next to Justin Bobby.
