Jerry Seinfeld Gives His Opinion on Tiger Woods, Jay and Conan (VIDEO)
by Harley W. Lond, posted Mar 1st 2010 7:05PM
Oprah Winfrey wanted to dish celebrity dirt with Jerry Seinfeld on Monday's 'The Oprah Winfrey Show' (weekdays, syndicated), but Seinfeld waxed philosophic. First she asked his opinion on Tiger Woods' marital disaster. Seinfeld's response: "That proves that golf is boring." Then Oprah primed Seinfeld for his take on "the whole Jay-Conan thing." "I loved it," Seinfeld said. "It was the most entertaining thing ... stupid is the most entertaining thing we have in our culture .. whenever people we know act stupid, that's a show for us." Jerry, we've really missed you. Watch the video after the jump.

by Harley W. Lond, posted Feb 26th 2010 8:13PM
Oprah Winfrey asked Jimmy Fallon for his take on the NBC late-night wars on Friday's 'The Oprah Winfrey Show' (weekdays, syndicated). "I never heard what you had to say about Jay vs. Conan. Where were you in all that?" Winfrey asked. "We had a show to do while all that was going on," Fallon said in a satellite feed from Vancouver. "So I just concentrated on being funny and keeping my head down. I'm just happy to have a job." And how's Conan doing? "Horrible, horrible, he has a beard now," Fallon cracked. "No, really, he's going to figure it all out." We certainly hope so -- O'Brien has the time ... and the money. Watch the video after the jump.

Roger Ebert to Appear on 'Oprah' March 2
by Joel Keller, posted Feb 26th 2010 5:31PM
It's interesting how quickly the wonderful Esquire profile of Roger Ebert, written by Chris Jones, rocketed around the interwebs last week. It speaks to the power of two things: a) Ebert's endearing popularity, almost four years after he stopped being an on-camera movie critic, and b) that a well-written magazine profile can give a reader more insight into a person than sometimes talking to the person himself can even do.But the article, and the stark pictures of Ebert that accompanied it, has led Ebert in some interesting directions. For instance, he'll be going on Oprah Winfrey's show on March 2 to do his first interview since various cancer surgeries robbed him of his voice, most of his jaw, and his ability to eat and drink. Ebert will speak through the use of a computer.
The two Chicago titans have a long history together; five years ago, Ebert revealed that the two of them even went out on a couple of dates in the 1980s, where Ebert gave Oprah the idea to syndicate her talk show rather than take it to the network level.
Kirstie Alley Has 'Bleepin' Words for Her Detractors (VIDEO)
by Harley W. Lond, posted Feb 25th 2010 6:17PM
Kirstie Alley's feathers were ruffled on 'The Oprah Winfrey Show' (weekdays, syndicated) when Winfrey asked her about her resolve to lose weight. "Is this time going to be different because the cameras are following you?" Winfrey asked."I know we can't say the F-word on 'Oprah,'" Alley said, but I don't give a 'bleep' anymore." Alley went on to explain that once she realized that she was happy with her career, her kids, her friends and family, she decided to say "screw all those 'bleep' who try to bring me down."
Kirstie, we love you no matter what.

Oprah Winfrey Does Her Show on a Chocolate Set (VIDEO)
by Harley W. Lond, posted Feb 22nd 2010 9:17PM
Does Oprah Winfrey have a sweet tooth? You be the judge. The enire set for Monday's 'The Oprah Winfrey Show' (weekdays, syndicated) was made out of 100 percent pure Godiva chocolate. Everything. The walls, the fireplace, the chandelier, the books, the frames, and the painting of the Chicago skyline. "The only thing that's not edible is Oprah," Winfrey said. And when the show's over? "We're gonna have a chocolate good time ... and then everyone will be so high."

Shaun White and Lindsey Vonn Dish on Gold Medals (VIDEO)
by Jane Boursaw, posted Feb 21st 2010 10:25PM
Gold medal winners Shaun White and Lindsey Vonn appeared on 'Oprah Winfrey' (weekdays, syndicated) to talk about their victories at the 'XXI Winter Olympics.' Both brought home gold medals for the U.S., and each went through their own journeys to achieve it.White had the gold locked up even without his signature move, but decided to go for it anyway, even though he'd suffered an injury with it previously. "In my mind, it wasn't really an option ... I don't quit too easily."
For Vonn, the reality is still sinking in. "I can't believe I have a gold medal. It's just surreal to me ... everything that I've worked for my whole life is finally coming true. I've dreamed about that moment since I was a little girl."

From Crass to Class: Mother of Two Gets a Makeover on 'Oprah' (VIDEO)
by Harley W. Lond, posted Feb 16th 2010 9:38PM
Talk about a "before and after."A mother of two -- who dressed more like a porn star than a mom -- got a makeover on 'The Oprah Winfrey Show' (weekdays, syndicated), transforming her into a classier version of herself.
"I don't think my kids are very happy with what they see," Dawn said in the introduction to the segment, which showed her in a very revealing outfit. Next thing we know, Dawn is walking out on the show in a very dignified blue dress, not necessarily prim but very proper.
"Oh my gosh, [the makeover] was so hard" she told Winfrey. "I was so used to people looking at me and asking me if I was a celebrity." "You're used to leading with your boobs," Winfrey said. "Is this now who you really are inside?" "Yes," dawn said, "I feel beautiful, I feel pretty, I feel classy."
And the audience -- and her kids -- went wild.

Oprah's Oops Moment with Drew Brees
by Allison Waldman, posted Feb 16th 2010 10:00AM
Oh, my. This is embarrassing... for Oprah. Apparently, she didn't see New Orleans Saints quarterback and Super Bowl MVP ever before in her life. How else can you explain what happened when Drew Brees was a guest on 'The Oprah Winfrey Show'? Before we go to the tape, a few thoughts. First, what does it say about the staff research on 'The Oprah Winfrey Show' that something as big as Drew Brees' birthmark, clearly visible on his right cheek didn't make it into the notes?
Nobody ran a little tape on the guy? There were no football cards or an 8x10 glossy? It makes you think that somebody simply handed Oprah a set of cards and said, "Here you go. His team won the Super Bowl. He throws the ball. Go get him, O."
'Ellen' to Stay on NBC Stations; Won't Replace 'Oprah'
by Danny Gallagher, posted Feb 12th 2010 9:05AM
It looks like Ellen won't be the new Oprah after all. If I were Oprah, I'd be very relieved. I wouldn't want someone taking over my soul and inhabiting my body solely for "ratings." Ellen DeGeneres has re-upped her daytime talk show for four more years and will stay on NBC's affiliates through the remainder of her current contract.
This ends speculation that Ellen would "become the new Oprah" in the wake of Oprah announcing she will end her show in September of 2011. If she did take Oprah's place though, it would have been interesting to see if Stedman came with the deal.
Leno refuses to admit to Oprah that he's culpable in Conan mess
by Joel Keller, posted Jan 28th 2010 5:55PM

When you look at the surface, it seemed like Jay Leno was quite revealing during his interview with Oprah Winfrey today. He said that he was "devastated" when NBC came to him in 2004 and told him that they wanted to give Conan O'Brien The Tonight Show. He claimed he was "embarrassed" by what he called "a big mess," and that NBC would have handled it better if "they came in and shot everyone. Then it would have only been a two-day story."
But when Oprah repeatedly tried to get Leno to react to how most of the public is reacting to this story -- that Jay should have stepped aside to give Conan a chance to succeed, and that he is unfairly taking back Conan's dream job -- Leno refused to play along. Not sure if he did so because he's truly not self-aware of what this whole mess looks like or he just doesn't care. But as far as Jay's concerned, this was all just business, and his decision to take back Tonight and Conan's departure are mutually exclusive events.

by Donald Deane, posted Jan 25th 2010 9:45AM
Oprah Winfrey questioned Bristol Palin's statement in a recent In Touch magazine interview where she vowed not have sex again until married, challenging whether such a goal is realistic and offering Palin a chance to retract her statement."But when you make the statement ... you don't think you're setting yourself up?
