Forest Whitaker Talks About Helping Child Soldiers in Africa and His Documentary 'A Place of Peace' (VIDEO)
by Nick Zaino, posted Jun 23rd 2011 5:20PM
In 2007, Forest Whitaker played Ugandan dictator Idi Amin in 'The Last King of Scotland.' It was an important film for Whitaker -- he won an Oscar for his performance. While he was filming, he got a firsthand look at the child soldiers fighting Uganda's civil war. Whitaker got involved in their cause through friend on 'Last King' who ran an orphanage for child soldiers. He spoke about his experience Thursday on 'The Early Show' (weekdays, 7AM on CBS)."I knew about the historical issues around the war with the LRA and stuff, the Lord's Resistance Army," Whitaker said. "But this was the first time that I had real deep contact where I spent real time with the children soldiers and raised money for them and helped them to build their dormitories and their schools."
Whitaker was recently named a goodwill ambassador by UNESCO for his work with child soldiers in Uganda and has made a documentary on the subject called "A Place of Peace."
'The Middle' - 'The Fun House' Recap
by Jason Hughes, posted Mar 25th 2010 4:53AM
(S01E18) I had no idea Amy Sedaris was going to show up on 'The Middle' this week. They did a pretty good job of keeping her true purpose a secret, too. We got to see two sides of Sedaris in the episode, both of which were a little disconcerting, but awesome at the same time. While Frankie was dealing with new stresses at work, Mike was finding out that it's not all it's cracked up to be when you're the cool house on the block. It's expensive, a lot of work, and most distressingly, it fills your house with kids you don't know. I have nice stuff in my house. I sure as hell don't want strangers walking in and out of it.
That said, I wouldn't mind stopping by the Heck house for a quick game before we go any further in this.
Press Kits Unwrapped: The Prisoner
by Jason Hughes, posted Nov 11th 2009 5:01PM

AMC is certainly pulling out all the stops to promote their re-imagining of The Prisoner. The new mini-series airs for three nights straight, starting Sunday November 15 at 8/7 Central. The network was kind enough to send out a press kit in anticipation of the new series, and right off I have to give them credit for sticking to their theme.
Some press kits seem to have random objects thrown in that have little or nothing to do with the show they're promoting. Everything that I found within this little box worked toward establishing the feeling of paranoia that pervades the world of The Prisoner. Even better, aside from the DVDs themselves, I could imagine this being the propaganda kit I would receive were I to ever wake up in the village.
